  1. Maybe it was held up by an anti-gravity device... Seriously, though... how is it possible this thing didn't collapse immediately? There's nothing holding it up...
  2. Vladimir Putin lands at Phuket and gets to immigration... but the officer is suspicious, so he wants to ask some additional questions... Immigration officer: Birthdate? Putin: 7 October 1952 Immiration officer: Birthplace? Putin: Leningrad Immigration officer: Occupation? Putin: No, no, only vacation...
  3. Someone has reminder set every 6 and a half years?
  4. True, but Malaysian manufactured panel to cover emergency exit is of identical design on Max 8, Max 9 and even the old 800 series. With 3/4 of United B737 Max of both variants having loose bolts on the panel when inspected following Alaska Airlines mishap, the confidence into entire B737 is shaky to say the least. And it doesn't help that Boeing employees are coming forward and admitting shoddy work due to lack of staff and unrealistic deadlines...
  5. I just snapped that from their homepage https://www.thaiairways.com
  6. Just realised THAI made it quite clear that you'll go to both Melbourne and Sydney... Even pic is from Sydney... So, passengers were warned!
  7. Not having KTC but have ROP card from Citi and AMEX. Both are the same so this may be relevant. First of all make sure that your ROP account number is updated with the bank. You can't get miles back if transferred to wrong account. Contact your bank (could be in mobile app or logged into their website or at the branch or by form (old style) or via the phone), and request to convert your reward points into miles. There will be a conversion ratio depending on the card you have - how many points for each mile. Once you have triggered this, it may take a couple of weeks before the miles appear inside your ROP account. The points will likely disappear from your credit card account immediately. Miles can be used for purchase of ticket (though you need to pay the taxes and surcharges) for X class seats, which usually there are only 2-4 seats available per flight. It becomes difficult to use them for upgrades and near impossible to use them on Star Alliance flights, which is result of TG bankruptcy, most likely. They can be purchased for up to 1 year in advance. So - contact bank, ask them to transfer them to your ROP account, wait a couple of weeks, check your status online (login to https://www.thaiairways.com/en_TH/rop/index.page ) and click on status on the left of the screen. Once miles are listed there, you can go to redeem miles menu and choose which flight to book. For you or any of your nominees. Hope this helps.
  8. It is not an easy decision for the captain to make to land at alternative airport. It is very costly for the airline (bussing passengers to their intended destination, additional airport fees, delayed or cancelled onward flights which often also mean hotel accommodation and wasting all the catering services costs). But at the same time, captain is there to ensure safety of passengers. It is his decision whether he believes he can safely land, or concludes that might be risky. Comparing with other airlines planes which have landed only gives the answer that technically it was possible to land. But what it doesn't answer is what was the condition of this aircraft. There are certain faults with which plane can take off, and pilots are just aware, and then there are faults that occur during the flights. There could be a mistake from get-go or something that has developed during flight, which could cause plane to be low on fuel, or have some instrument needed for ILS approach malfunctioning, which would make circling further, or landing into fog risky. The above, however, does not excuse Thai Airways' heavy handed approach in suing their passenger for complaining about flight he paid for, but got dumped off on the wrong airport, especially after he took down the post and apologised - despite being over the top inappropriate, which I can only guess the passenger also realised. Consequences of such news hitting global media could be a death blow to Thai Airways' recovery efforts and future business. It is unfortunate that THAI has started practicing one of most controversial and hated laws in this country to silence critics. I am willing to bet this will not avoid getting punished when they check their books 6 months or a year later.
  9. You just made her doctor lose face. Count yourself lucky he didn't prescribe both of you cyanide...
  10. The story only gets better after the part published in OP...
  11. The success of government's clean air act has left me breathless...
  12. Policeman walking a dog... a man passes them and asks "Where are you taking this buffalo?" Policeman gets angry and shouts back:"That's not a buffalo! That's a dog!" "I was asking the dog..."
  13. I used to take bus to Südbahnhof and then take train to Klagenfurt but... it takes some time, and stops very short time at each stop, maybe 2 minutes. Stopped taking them after tiring flight landing in the evening, in stroke of bad luck my train was from TrenItalia, which departed nearly 3 hours late. Fell asleep on the train and woke up in Villach... middle of the night... in December. At least on the plane someone wakes you up when you arrive. And that plane's actually nice now... after always broken Dash8 got replaced with a modern jet. Buying the VIE-KLU flight separately added nearly 20k baht to my flights with other airlines, so I've switched to Austrian since overall it was a lot faster and ended up cheaper. Depart 11.30 pm or so, arrive Vienna 5-6 am, depending on season, 3 hours later in another plane, and by 10.30 am at Klagenfurt. On return 6.30 or so pm plane to Vienna, 11.30 or so to Bangkok to arrive about 2:30 pm the next day. Convenient. Despite being packed like sardines, and all that Do&Co culinary delights gone, and food only eaten because you can't order anything else at 35k ft...
  14. I was usually continuing to KLU, so I took Austrian most of the time, but their price was higher than this a few months back, about 50k on promo, about 70k normally. Used to be about 35-40k before COVID.
  15. Let me add something to that full article - and the flight bought with miles, as the OP mentioned... I did the same - miles were expiring so what the heck, let's use them. Surcharges were more expensive than Air Asia's entire ticket price, yes, but at least time of flight was great, and would maximize the time there. Fast forward 2 months from booking and I've received SMS from THAI, telling me that morning flight has been rescheduled to evening and I'll arrive to Singapore at 8 pm. THANK YOU, THAI. I think I'll let the rest of miles lapse from now on, as it's just not worth it.
  16. Just for the record - I didn't intend to get infected. In fact, I was avoiding it quite successfully for 3 years. But now that I had it, I hope at least it provides some protection for some months to come. If I had a choice, i would have chosen not to get it. But now that I already did... I'll take that as a "booster", hopefully.
  17. I'm aware, obviously, but vaccine mimics the real virus infection, right? So if I got actual virus, that should be same or better than getting a vaccine, wouldn't it?
  18. Where were you on 19 and 20 Jan? Can anyone confirm your whereabouts? You're defending suicide theory too hard. Time for police to give you a visit...
  19. Had 2x AZ+1x Pfizer. But that was a long while back... Checking vaccine certificate: AZ (A1016)- 29 July 2021 AZ (A10061) - 21 October 2021 Comirnaty (FN7874) - Pfizer - 9 February 2022 This is my first time catching COVID.
  20. Some people get away with it easily and some others, not so much. I've managed to avoid it for 3 years but... seems you can run but you can't hide, and despite all precautions... I've still got 2 lines on the test for a week now, and it's not been a walk in a park. 40.5C fever, severely sore throat, running nose and sneezing, possibly reason for some of the worst headache/migraine I've ever had, aching all over the body, loss of taste and smell and totally exhausted the whole time. A couple of days into it, phlegm, cough, discomfort moving to lungs and having difficulty breathing at times. So while still having symptoms and 2 lines on the test - anyone above saying it's innocent cold - let's meet up in a small, poorly ventilated place, with no masks on. Come on, don't chicken out now.
  21. Wonder if sick man at Police hospital has any shares of TV station he started...
