Ultimately it is the fault of the Thai government that have failed to make any enforceable laws regarding dog attacks and soi dog packs . Owners of dogs that cause injury to people should be penalized ( jailed and fined ) . Dog owners should keep their dogs within their property and not allowed to roam the streets . Thailand needs a dog cull and that includes any dog on the streets , be it owned or not . Cambodia , another Buddhist country does not suffer from uncontrolled dogs .

Smoke signal: Suvarnabhumi sparks smoking rooms outrage
superal replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I was in a bar at swampy airport about 2 years ago, after security . I heard someone ask if there was somewhere to smoke , because all smoking rooms had been closed . The barman said walk about 40 meters to another bar and pay 400 baht and they will let you smoke 2 cigarettes in their back room . -
Rachel Reeves Dodges Key Question on Living Standards Under Labour

One UK newspaper today speculates that Starmer is considering replacing Reeves with E. Cooper . Out of the frying pan into the fire ? Starmers muppet show cabinet are out of their depth . -
Trying to speak to Wizz c/s is not easy . They often tell me to turn off my VPN which is already off . When I do get to their home page the chat facility is sometimes not available . Wizz did send out emails stating the use of their service and the restrictions of sharing . I know they read this forum so it would be good if they could repeat the email so as to clarify their rules .

The 18,600 is for a married couple . A single mans state pension would be about 11,000 . So no chance of sponsoring a partner . Also am I correct that " The Old Git " said that the state pension is classed as a benefit and was not admissible as income ?

Smoke signal: Suvarnabhumi sparks smoking rooms outrage
superal replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
At Suvarnabhumi near gate 30 ish there was once a smoke room on the floor below . When I used it there were mostly airport workers and flight crews in them . Having a couple of beers and a smoke were relaxing before the long haul flights to the UK Heathrow where there are no smoke rooms . I know of someone who vapes on the long haul flights . He vapes under his blanket . Also some guys smoke in the aircraft toilet by exhaling the smoke down the toilet when flushing it . Many smokers choose to check in at the airports as late as possible because of no smoking facilities inside airports . I can understand banning smoking on board but why ban smoking rooms in airports ? I reckon it is because too many airport staff are using them too much . Some middle eastern smoke rooms are bad , hardly ventilated , I have a couple of puffs then leave . -
Thanks for correcting me , good info . I misunderstood their brief .

I don't have Netflix but if I have my Surfshark VPN on , my speed test drops from 380 Mbps download to 40 Mbps . I am in contact with S/S at the moment and they are trying to rectify it . My contract ends in 1 month and I may change the VPN to Nord . Do you regularly clear your cache and turn off your router for 30 minutes ? Does your router get hot ? My speed tests are always low at the week ends and evenings , popular times for surfing . You may be paying for 1 Gbps but your ISP will state that in busier times you will not get that . You may get up to 1 Gbps ( best case scenario ) . The mysteries of the internet . I get buffering often on Wizz TV but others not far away do not and same ISP . It seems that Thai internet techs have limited skills up here in Issan . YouTube never a problem because they have many quality servers globally .

Bangkokians Dub State Efforts to Combat PM2.5 as Ineffective: Poll
superal replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Further more , most private cars in Bangkok carry the driver only but to be generous lets say 2 passengers . A Bangkok bus can take 60 to 120 passengers . So 90 on an average . Given 2 passengers to a car that would take 45 cars off the road . Bangkok runs 3000 buses . Of course there would have to be " Park & Ride facilities " . -
My apologies for my error .

Bangkokians Dub State Efforts to Combat PM2.5 as Ineffective: Poll
superal replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
I do not live in Bangkok but I have been there many times and been stuck in traffic jams often . Nepotism and corruption will have to take a back seat if there is to be a remedy of air pollution and too many vehicles . Parking is also an issue and even large shopping mall car parks can be full . There must be businesses that suffer because of the lack of parking . There is no doubt that Bangkok is a toxic city at a dangerous level . The authorities are aware of the vehicles spewing out black smoke but do nothing about it . Electric buses and taxis use to be promoted and a levy on other vehicles wanting to enter the city . ULEZ does work , as proven in many countries and various cities in the UK . -
Rachel Reeves Dodges Key Question on Living Standards Under Labour

He got elected on B/S and blatant lies . This should be taken into account , pursued in the courts to make the last election null and void . He needs to be stopped now because of the damage his party has caused in 7 months will be multiplied if he is allowed to serve his full term . Indeed , any such pledges made by electioneering politicians , that are compromised / not fulfilled , should be classed as perjury or treason and carry a prison sentence along with a substantial fine . When you consider the recent jail sentences handed out by Starmer to folk who have only spoken about their social views , then accused of being far right antagonists , it makes a mockery of the laws . Starmer is a dictator , with little or no care for the general public . How can he justify paying the train drivers a hefty pay raise and then taking the WFP from pensioners . It should be recognized that Starmer is doing damage to the UK and he must be relieved of his PM duties . I am not sure if the UK can be saved now . It needs a Trump type man ? -
Sad emoji because UK pensioners are supposed to exist on less than half of that . Sorry to gatecrash the topic but who comes up with these required income levels ? Love to see their workings . Best bet is to go to France and board a rubber dingy . Zero monetary requirements , passport / visa not needed and free accommodation , food etc . Another case of the government not taking care of their own first , assuming you are from N.I.

Bangkokians Dub State Efforts to Combat PM2.5 as Ineffective: Poll

ULEZ is not totally popular because of the restrictions on non compliant vehicle use . However the idea has been adopted in various countries , including the following , Spain , Italy . Sweden , Greece , Norway , China , Mexico and many cities in the UK because it has a real effect of reducing pollution . Electric vehicles and traffic reduction have shown that without doubt their are major health benefits . South East Asian crop burning is not the only way to prepare the ground for the next planting . Ploughing in crop stubble is a Western way but more costly because the use of machinery , man power and fuel need to be factored in but this needs to be put in place with possible government subsidies . However enforcement is the problem with local backhanders paid for the enforcement officers to turn a bling eye . Also other nearby countries would have to agree to stop crop burning too . It's not rocket science , all the answers are there but if no actions are taken , pollution matters will only increase to a level that will cause serious health hazards that will make living in Bangkok or even visiting Bangkok , a no go zone . Visiting Bangkok may well have a globally notified health warning this summer . -
Rachel Reeves Dodges Key Question on Living Standards Under Labour
superal replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Starmer is desperate to create growth ,at any cost or concession , as growth was his election pledge . His attempts to make UK growth are being undermined by Reeves whose badly thought out Budget actions are reducing growth . Sticking to the topic , living standards have declined for many pensioners because of the withdrawal of the WFP . Trying to appease by saying that the triple lock will enhance the pension has enraged many folks . Workers losing their jobs because of increased costs of N.I. etc to companies . Not forgetting the farmers and that stupid budget inclusion could prove to be the downfall of Starmer , Reeves & Raynor . Given that the Labour stated that they had all their costed plans in place prior to the election , they have made zero positive gains for the nation and done sweet F.A. about the illegal immigration that is increasing under the Labour tenure . BTW , yesterdays latest poll shows Farage and Reform are now the most popular UK political party . -

Are you advocating a return to the EU , reversing Brexit , supporting Starmers clandestine actions ? If he is opposing the referendum and the will of the people then maybe on a similar parallel a new general election should be approved . What's good for the goose is good for the gander . -

Rachel Reeves Dodges Key Question on Living Standards Under Labour
superal replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Trading with Europe could be beneficial for the UK but at what cost ? fishing concessions ? I think their is little doubt that the EC would welcome back the UK under EU rules only . I cannot understand how Starmer can re-negotiate a new relationship with Europe when the nation voted for Brexit . Any U turn , no matter how you want to spin it , would be acting against the nations referendum . Free movement of labour should be a no go and also any political alliance . -

Or copy the London ways to control air pollution using ULEZ ( ultra low emission zone ) whereby vehicles that do not meet the low exhaust emissions , have to pay a hefty charge to enter the city . This encourages people to leave their cars at home and use public transport . Even if your vehicle meets the emission laws you will have to pay a congestion charge . But could ULEZ work in Bangkok ? and a congestion levy ? Considering the many vehicles in poor maintained condition in Bangkok , there would be a huge reduction of pollution levels if a ULEZ / congestion charges were introduced . -
Alexa asks me if I want to sign up for 5.99 a month for premium Amazon music , even though Amazon have left Thailand . However Alexa can still play other stations for free .
-
All of a sudden my reliable Alexa Dot Echo stopped working . When playing a chosen song it stops after 30 seconds and says " I am having trouble playing songs from your library " . Spoke to Amazon c/s who could not resolve the problems but said they would pass it to their technical dept . No answer from last week but I have just read that there are others who are having the same problem and one of them contacted Amazon c/s who were well informed and said that Amazon are no longer available in Thailand due to country restrictions . However using a VPN to say the U.S. or U.K. will work . Alexa will also play other radio stations without using a VPN .
-
To change servers you need to log in again with your username and password . However I have lost them and I contacted Wizz to send me the info but no reply . Their c/s is not easy to access and access to their site is denied with them saying that I am using a VPN and turn it off but I was not using a VPN

Me too in Prasat and same problems as you had . Do you mind sharing your new provider ?

Fire stick , I have the latest version . I pay for 500 Mbps internet . Works well in the daytime but come the evening , every Wizz channel buffers , unwatchable . A speed test shows only 1 , 2 , 3, or 4 Mbps download in the evening compared to 430 Mbps in the daytime . YouTube always plays well . I have a very good router , Archer t-p-link cat 6e . Strange thing is , if I wake in the small hours when there will be few internet users , Wizz does often buffer , despite having a good speed test . Trouble is that where I live up here in Issan , internet technicians are as rare as rocking horse poo . The tech who installed my router had never seen or heard of an Amazon fire stick ( he said I should upgrade to an Android box , ffksk .) Amazon , well my Amazon Alexa Dot Echo has stopped working this last week . It plays a song for 30 seconds , stops and says " I am having trouble playing songs from your library " . Contacted Amazon who said they will investigate but they have not got back to me . Alexa also asks me if I want to install their no adverts app for 5.99 pounds a month ( suspicious ) . Where did you hear that Amazon was blocked in Thailand ?
