  1. I have dined at Nickys and had good food . Is 99 baht todays price cos when I looked it was 2023 . Our breakfast is similar but we have large pork sausages and thick fresh home made thick bread / toast . Most of our customers go for our small b/f cos cannot eat all of the larger one . We have only compliments and no complaints . At such a low price I cannot see Nickys making much profit . It must be a loss leader cos I know they have a varied menu with more realistic prices . Nickys is my number one eaterie in Pattaya.
  2. My lady runs a restaurant up in Issan . 99 Baht breakfast ? What's that ? cornflakes ? Our English breakfasts are 150 or 200 baht . We have many 5 star reviews . Running a restaurant in Thailand is not easy to make money . Most go bust . A lot of competition around . Employing good reliable honest staff is a challenge . You have to pay staff , no matter if you have customers or not . So on a bad day you lose money by being open . Electric bills can be high , especially if you have air-con as we have .Not to mention the rent . Buying good quality food is a mine field . Working in a kitchen in Thailand is far too hot for me , especially in the Thai hot months , My ladies business has been going for nearly 20 years and she has some good customers but that did not happen overnight . Are you prepared to lose money in the first year ? cos that is what almost certainly happen .
  3. me too plus I am happy to pay using my Bangkok Bank transfer app
  4. Thailand does discriminate against non-Thais / foreigners . Following recent legislation by the government, public hospitals in Thailand are now legally permitted to charge expats higher rates for treatment. With four tiers of rates, the new pricing system means working expats on non-immigrant visas and retirees will pay more for public healthcare services – up to double the costs charged to Thai nationals. The four tiers are as follows: Band 1: Thai nationals Band 2: ASEAN nationals (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) Band 3: Expatriates on non-immigrant visas Band 4: Tourists and retirees A pal recently had a hernia operation in a Thai gov; hospital at 50,000 baht which he was told was 25,000 baht for Thais but I could not understand that because I thought that Thais were covered under the 30 baht scheme . Also there is a set fee for every procedure /operation across the country in Thai government hospitals .
  5. Yeah , I guess once bitten twice shy . I have had 2 refunds paid to me by P/P within 1 day of complaining about the seller . Using a Q/R code to pay is ok and doing a payment by bank transfer too . But giving your card details to an unknown company is dangerous . Similarly , I have heard of some restaurants that take your card , for payment , to their cash till area and copy / clone the card . Having your card details , including the 3 digit security number on the back of the card , gives them access to illegally use your card . Also card details are sold to third parties online . Also I never use an outside wifi without using my VPN .
  6. When making an online purchase , are you happy to pay with your credit / debit card ? Especially if buying from a seller that you have never used before . When doing online banking I always use my VPN , do you ? If making a purchase from a new seller I always use Paypal as it has decent security . What protection do you use when making purchases online ? ?
  7. My ISP has subcontracted from 3BB . I spoke to 3BB who confirmed that they did not control the service to my house and that I must deal with the local business that uses their cables . Paranoid ? No , just aware and careful . PayPal do provide financial protection greater than that of banks . Secondly , giving card details to an online business , particularly if unknown to you , is taking a chance . There are many scams on the internet where folks have given card details to internet sellers . Finally many IPTV companies vanish overnight and no chance of getting your money back .
  8. Thanks , I had a look and a low price compared to other IPTV companies . My only concern is the payment method . I always shy away from giving bank card details on line . My preference is Paypal that does not use the family and friends method . ( No security )
  9. Not using a VPN . When I get buffering it will be on all the IPTV channels . However , if I do a speed test , the results are plenty enough to do streaming . Strange thing is that the buffering can even happen at 04 00 am morning time . So not much demand for Internet at that time . My one suspicion is that my ISP is a small business subcontractor who I believe is using his own servers which may be low quality .
  10. I have seen cars parked on a crossing . If a crossing has not got traffic light controls , vehicles will not stop , even if you are half way across . Nearly got run down on a Thai crossing when I first came to Thailand . My assumption was that Thais treated crossings in the same way as the UK . Little if any highway driving law enforcement in Thailand . Only road block check points for tea money .
  11. The Peace Treaty Deal . Problems . Zelensky wants all land that has been annexed by Russia , since the 2022 invasion , to be returned to Ukraine and also the return of Crimea . To date 20% of Ukraine is under Russian control . Zelensky wants the Ukraine borders to be restored to those of the pre 2014 year . The U.S.A. will not support this . Zelensky wants Putin to be tried for war crimes . The mineral deal will be signed by Zelensky if Trump agrees to have the USA border security .Trump says no way . So Trump promised to end the war in 1 day . How naive ? Trump decided to pick on the weakest link , hoping Zelensky would collapse and comply to Trumps wishes . This tactic has failed and has left Trump in a defeatist mode and is now in the making of U.S .A. global isolation . Europe must go it alone . Starmers invitation letter to Trump from king Charles for a state visit ,was made purely to encourage trade deals and not apply tariffs to UK imports and Trump will know that . It was a finger down the throat job . Real cringe moment . Amateurish .
  12. Starmer has just made 2 more contributions to Ukraine totaling 3.8 billion pounds . WFA withdrawal has left many elderly struggling to pay heating bills . The rubber boats continue to invade with no defense made to stop them . UK economy looks to be at an incline . Starmer & Macron have aspirations of being the bosses of Europe . Starmer trying to be liked by the E.U in order to get some sort of reverse Brexit done . Trumps meeting with Putin was behind closed doors and the extent of the whole discussions have not been told . The ambush of Zelensky at the Oval was premeditated . When Zelensky arrived and got out of the limo he was immediately hit by Trumps derogatory remarks about his dress . Same from Valance and also a news reporter who asked why he was not wearing a suit . The reporter was given a wink from Trump to ask start talking and ask the question . Is Trump in collusion with Putin ? Why did Putin invade Ukraine ? Quite involved but in the early 1990s the U.S.A. & NATO promised not to expand the alliance into the former Soviet Union bloc . That promise was reneged on . Areas of Ukraine still have many Russians living there who want Russian control . No doubt that Putin wants Ukraine back to re-form the Soviet Union . Ukraine's massive rare mineral stocks could have been secured by Trump on Friday but he engineered the meeting to be a destructive shouting row and leave that deal in abeyance . Why ? I think that Putin told Trump that Zelensky must go and Ukraine will be back in the Soviet Union . Then a cease fire and the U.S.A. can have a deal with Putin over the minerals .
  13. Can someone explain why IPTV buffers / freezes say for 1 minute but then starts again from where it stopped ? Is it the IPTV companies server or my set up ? 400 Mbps download and same upload
  14. UK emigration is happening , not only going to work in other countries . Unlike the UK , these new motherlands only accept applications from those who have skills or high levels of educational qualifications . So while the UK loses talent they are being replaced by uneducated , unskilled , uncivilized persons who are adding to the burden of the public purse . Brain drain . This Labour government are changing the British way of life , for the worse . They have only just started and there will be much worse to come . The Spring Statement on March 26th , rumored , a rise in income tax , a means test on pensioners triple lock state pension increase . Up to 100,00 foreign workers brought into the UK to build the 1.5 million new homes ( needed for the 3 million immigrants already here ? ) , an amnesty for 350,000 illegal immigrants . Is there no control or regulation on how governments perform ? This bunch of Labour muppets need to be kicked out asap . The UK now almost beyond recognition .
  15. She will give a Spring statement on March 26 and is expected to increase personal income tax and other taxes . All forecasts from industrialists and the financial sectors are gloom and doom . The scary thing is , how much damage could she do if allowed to run the full term ? About to happen is a battle with the farmers , unless she does a U turn . Labour is changing the planning laws to allow easy planning for the building of 1.5 million new homes . These new homes are needed by the first time buyers but there is hearsay that the majority will go to immigrants . The UK building industry stated that they are 100,000 builders short at the moment which means that the people to build these homes will be recruited from abroad . In order to achieve this Starmer is negotiating with the E.U. to allow free movement of labour . Homes ? In order to hit the 1.500000 target there will be many blocks of flats in rural areas . You ain't seen nothing yet . Just because a political party is elected , it should not give them a free hand to destroy the country . You would think that there would be laws in place to oversee the governments questionable actions that may cause damage to the country and secondly to ensure that election pledges are kept and not statements to win votes .
  16. As he has been out of the UK for a long period , he may not be entitled to free NHS treatment ? Unfair I think but I seem to recall that does happen . Ironically there are many invaders jumping into rubber dinghies in France to cross the channel to the welcoming arms of the UK authorities , put into hotels where they are taken good care of and get free hospital treatment . Sorry to digress but this is typical of how some real Brits are treated .
  17. I escorted an English man back to the UK because of dementia .I had been helping him because he could not get money from the A.T.M. I spent an afternoon on the phone to his UK bank asking them to confirm his PIN number because he could not get any money . The bank were loathe to give any info but finally after much pleading by me , they said that the PIN was correct but there was no money in his account . He was being ripped off by his Thai lady . She was an aggressive woman who was against his return to the UK but when I told her he was going back to sell his house and then return to Thailand , she agreed . A further complication was he had not renewed his retirement visa and was 1 year overdue . At Suvarnibhum I had to explain his dementia and paid the 20,000 baht fine . I was in contact with his son who was unable to fly to Thailand because of business commitments . The son paid for the flights . After arriving in the UK I kept in touch with his son who told me that the doctors believed he had been drugged over some time and was now in a better health . Care homes waiting times in the UK can be as much as 5 months and longer under social care .
  18. What have you got against man-bags ? I like my man-bag for carrying my 2 telephones , my wallet ,passport , bank book ,cigarettes , tissues , condoms , spectacles in protective case , etc etc . I am a 100% heterosexual man , maybe you are fighting against your feminine traits ?
  19. The beach side walkway is ok but not on the shops side
  20. In a nut shell , Thai walkways are acceptable to Thai folks . They know no better . Walkway tiling around shopping malls may look nice but come the rain it turns into a slippery surface because non slip tiles were not used . Below are extracts from the Tourism authority of Thailand . The vast majority of physically challenged Thai people live in rural areas. Generally, it is the responsibility of families to care for and provide for their disabled relatives, and there is very little government help available. This includes a lack of services for physically challenged travelers, such as wheelchair ramps and elevators, and consequently, those who attempt to travel with disabilities in Thailand can have a challenging time Travel & Getting Around Thailand is not an easy place to visit for people with reduced mobility or other physical challenges. The larger resorts and tourist attractions provide facilities for disabled people, but in rural areas public transport is limited and often inaccessible to wheelchair users. Moving around the city can be extremely difficult for disabled people. The streets and pavements are uneven and few buildings provide ramps and handrails to aid disabled access. Guide dogs are rare and there are few audio signals for the blind at traffic crossings. Nonetheless, a project has been announced by the Bangkok governor along with the Disabled People International Asia-Pacific Region to ensure that Bangkok pavements are easily navigable for those with reduced mobility. A commitment has also been made to make public transport more accessible. So by their own admission they are aware of the hazards for pedestrians but as yet I have not heard of any plans to make improvements . Maybe the TAT should conduct a survey of tourists opinions of Thailand to include questions on health & safety .
  21. Cos many crimes have been declassified . Police no longer attend shoplifting incidents as an example . Knife crime is rife , phone thefts have doubled in the last 5 years , 80,000 + per year . You need to get out more or buy a TV to keep up to speed with the latest news .
  22. This forum has spoken about the dangers of using Pattaya's footpaths many times . Certainly should carry a health warning . Not suitable for infants push chairs , invalids wheelchairs or elderly folks who have a mobility problem . Not to mention after having a few beers etc . Vendors taking up walkway areas . Drop down kerbs of 1 foot . Compared with other popular holiday destinations Pattaya's walkways are a disgrace but not the only venue in Thailand with such low standards . During Covid when there were very few visitors , there were opportunities to make decent , safe walking for pedestrians . Example , Beach road could have been made into a much wider walkway or promenade and still room for traffic . Pattaya needs re-modelling and made visitor friendly . Shame on the city bosses .
  23. No need to be pedantic . OK , for your benefit I will call it causation and you know its true that the UK crime rates have soared over the last few years because of the uncontrolled immigration that brings with it many criminals . Or do you have evidence to prove me wrong ? Why does the English coastguard pick up these invaders , once they reach the English section of the English channel ? No wonder there are so many rubber boat trips . It's welcoming / encouraging illegal invaders . The British navy should make a blockade and tow the rubber boats back to France .
  24. and many for " cash in hand " , many worked within the agency of " Check a trade . com " , plus the crime rate soared and continues to do so to this day because of unvetted , criminal immigrants . Is there a correlation between the huge spike in UK immigration and the escalating crime rate ? Not rocket science is it ?
  25. I believe that the views of Eloquent Pilgrim are held by the majority of the indigenous UK public . Starmer is running scared to the extent of messing with local councils , thus delaying many by elections in May , knowing full well Labour would lose many at the expense of the Reform party . Changing the local councils way of running is to gain control of planning which will result in massive uproar and opposition from the UK population . Rayner is promising 1.5 million new homes within the 5 year tenure of this unpopular government . These homes will be built in not only in towns but also rural villages . These homes will be a mix of houses and flats that will also be used to house many immigrants .
