  1. It's not that bad. I drink it quite often. Sometimes I fancy a beer but don't want alcohol.
  2. It depends what you mean by talk to. A quick chat in the street or more? I hardly have time to see current small number of western friends, never mind meeting others. This is partly due to not mixing groups of people. I'll be doing some karaoke tonight with my Thai table tennis friends, last week I met my bowling team, the week before I met my German friend. As a popular guy, this means I have to say no to a lot to invitations. Some may think that I believe I'm better than them because of this, which is not the case. I simply don't have the energy.
  3. The violence against the first guy seemed fine to me. They went over the top on the dad, but the dad attacked (if you could call that pathetic slap an attack) the bouncer first. You could see the bouncers laughing away afterwards, showing their complete lack of professionalism. It reminds me of days past in my home country.
  4. I take reports such as this with a pinch of salt, but what I do know is that it was bustling around the Grand Palace yesterday. It was good to see some life there again. I wasn't really paying attention but I saw mostly westerners. The tuk tuk drivers and street sellers were all very polite too.
  5. Regarding PT boasting a landslide, I have no idea. I just know there were 10 seats difference. I do think its ridiculous though how BJT got so many seats with only 3% of the vote. Ultimately though, the zoning of districts has been known for a long time and it is meant to give a voice to the entire country, not just the city dwellers in Bangkok and Chiang Mai.
  6. An alcoholic would not be able to go a day without alcohol by definition. There were also two Buddhist days in a row. There was no beer on sale in my local restaurants over those two days, but we were told we could bring our own and drink there. As I'm not an alcoholic, I just drank water.
  7. Not necessarily. Move Forward only beat them by a couple of seats in the election. People make it out that it was a landslide victory when it wasn't. The voters of the military parties will never switch allegiance to Move Forward.
  8. I can't help feel that if one is strong enough to get a tattoo for life on their chest, they should be strong enough to say 'stop touching my tits' if necessary.
  9. I'd like the 4d cinema if the seats were more comfortable. I watched Jurassic Park in one and enjoyed it, apart from being booted around like a ragdoll for the sections where they were driving in a car over rough terrain. Having a curry and a few beers beforehand probably wasn't the best idea either.
  10. As an alternative to the Fortuner I'd say go for the Ford Everest. If you want something a bit smaller, the Honda HeV is a pretty good hybrid at around 1 million.
  11. So the Korean man got fined 1, 000baht too for quarrelling and being a public nuisance. Odd considering the police also confirmed it is legal to record there and some guys berated him for it. I really don't like how flexible the law can be at times. Get punched in the face twice and you get fined! Was most likely down to flipping the bird, which as far as I know is globally universal in meaning.
  12. It's entered my mind recently as my marriage is on the rocks. If I made the split and I was looking for another relationship, I'd go 15-20 years younger. Most likely though, I'd just play the field being honest that I don't want anything serious. I've had enough of nagging, I have no interest in having a kid, and I know I would live a relatively peaceful life being free, alone.
  13. My bank (natwest) know I live in Thailand, but I still use my family UK address. Every couple of years that I go back I pop into the bank and make a deposit and they've never said anything. The only issue I have is buying Christmas presents when they block payments and require me to call them. They then sometimes get arsey saying the transactions were blocked as I've been away from the UK too long.
  14. I've actually never been to the entertainment part of the town. My missus finds Hua Hin too much so there's no chance of taking her to Pattaya. Jomtien is fine though for the beech vibe and Sri Racha if we want to meet friends for food and drink.
  15. I think the concerns are valid regarding fires in underground/condo parking, albeit at present the risk of that happening appears very low. As with any new technology though, I wonder what their safety will be like in several years time. Maintenance isn't a strong point here. Neither is having a license, road tax and insurance. I foresee those without insurance could make it more dangerous for the rest of us if they've had a bump or too, driven over a curb, tree stump or whatever. Another concern is how the filthy floodwater affects these cars. After sitting in traffic jams on these days for hours at a time, would this still be safe when a car is no longer new?
  16. Take aside everything we know about this man and it's actually a very good picture of him. He's well dressed, looks smart and respectful. Talk about a wolf in sheep's clothing.
  17. Parking is pretty easy with all the cameras in modern pick ups. The biggest problem if you ask me is finding a space wide enough that allows you to open the doors. The Tesco lotus in my city has very narrow parking spaces in the undercover parking, but a more suitable size outside. Makro has better sized spaces. Stupidly, Thai Watsadu has the narrowest spaces. Its a good job no one ever really shops there, so the carpark is mostly empty.
  18. From what I see there's quiet a lot of bickering on this forum, but I rarely see it getting what I consider heated. What you call arguments, maybe i call talking things out, which is healthy if you ask me, especially in person. I haven't blocked anybody and not a single member pops into my head that I'd consider doing so to.
  19. Yeah, it's ridiculous if you use your phone, not so bad if you use the computer. I seem to be a sucker for punishment as I continue to use my phone. The screen space taken by adverts and the keyboard leaves me peeping through a tiny gap. I'll now try to post this by having to scroll past another video advert that appears in front of half of the reply button.
  20. If I find a local place on Google maps with no further details, I copy and paste the Thai name into Facebook and usually they are there. Alternatively use street view and look if there's a telephone number in front of the place. I really struggle understanding Thai over the phone though so require help from a friend at that point.
  21. Well done to you for succeeding in life financially. Unfortunately your judging of others means you have failed to attain true happiness in life emotionally, in my opinion of course.
