  1. Make sure you don't collect them for too long as the coins now have expiry dates.
  2. Tried the Tawandang weizen tonight and it's only the second alcoholic drink I've ever thrown down the drain after one sip (the other was Sato). The carabao lager was drinkable but lacking flavour.
  3. According to my work permit I am, 365 days a year.
  4. I'd say based on the words they used maybe. Bignok is likely Australian as he uses bogans whereas I'd say scroats. He says utes and I say pick up. For info, I mentioned bignok just because I saw his name in this thread first and on one earlier today. It's nothing personal.
  5. I've never seen a poster pretend they are someone they are not on here apart from Yinn. Gender means nothing in this case to me. Many talk about ex sas etc on barstools but I haven't read people posting on here claiming to be that all. I'll admit I see quite a few oddments but I'm not exactly mr perfect either.
  6. If I were to give my votes though I'd go 3. KhunLa 2. Crossy 1. BritManToo BritManToo always seems to make me laugh as he never beats around the bush.
  7. I know Yinn won POTY but many were calling Yinn out before that point saying that it wasn't a Thai female. After winning POTY Yinn suddenly disappeared further adding to the fire. (too much hassle keeping up the charade). I gave Yinn the benefit of doubt to start with but also found it quite surreal how gullible many were protecting a poster that was probably a westerner with nothing better to do.
  8. But it is their culture, that's the thing. I'm not saying I agree with it but they wouldn't do it so often if it wasn't. As a driver I expect this to happen every day. My heart rate doesn't rise anymore for everyday occurrences like this. It's normal.
  9. To add to the others, driving with no lights at night, or they have a headlight but completely cover it with a carrier bag in the basket in front making the light useless. With so many heavily tinted car windscreens it's effectively suicide.
  10. That's what people say when they don't understand how culture works.
  11. I always assumed that road would be a nice relaxing drive with the 'slow life' in the north. It'll take me over 10hrs to get that far so I'll probably split the drive into two days if the last leg requires the eyes of a eagle.
  12. I thought Yinn caused a stir because members soon figured out it was a troll pretending to be a Thai woman.
  13. What speed were you driving? Are there no speed cameras on that stretch? I've never been north of Chiang Dao, but in the south I know the traffic starts to speed up as you get near Chumphon. I'd be going 140 in my eco car as everyone flies past me.
  14. 'Safety' implies that the country is not safe (just like Pattaya is a 'family resort'). 'Sandbox' refers back to the times of COVID-19 and implies you are being protected from the grown up world. All I see this doing is harming the country's image.
  15. I assume the child would require new helmets as they grow whereas the adult will wear theirs for years. It would be good to see a 'pass it on' type scheme in this case to help with the financial burden of helmets for those who really do have very little. Could their schools offer/buy them back from the parents or do a swap as children grow?
  16. I bought the lager and the dunkel yesterday as I was getting my Heineken zeros. At 60 baht each it shouldn't put the locals off. I'll try them when I'm off the wagon again.
  17. I wanted some chicken breast from the market so naturally I asked for nom gai. I knew that nom meant both breast and milk in Thai. The seller looked confused so I did the British thing and said again but louder, naturally that attracted others' attention. I then asked one more time while making the boobs hand gesture (to make it clear I didn't mean chicken milk). They looked at me like I was crazy and they were certainly not amused. That was the day I learned to ask for og gai.
  18. God forbid that the students actually smile! Ultimately though a bit of photo shop could sort the issues out
  19. Interesting. I went there for the dinosaur sites too and I loved it there. I found the people were very nice and friendly. I rarely go anywhere without my car though. After having a baht bus try to charge me 1,000 baht for a short journey in Had Yai and having to put up with taxis in Phuket, I decided driving was easier. For me the rudest Thai's are between Bang Kapi and Minburi. For westerners, I've not really seen enough of us here to say.
  20. I haven't really seen any petrol head discussions on here. The majority of threads are about EVs, EVs v's ICE, tax, driving licenses, tyres etc. Regarding repeating your explanations, you chose to enter those discussions. I frequently see people talking BS and choose not to respond as I expect there is usually a strong element of cognitive dissonance at play.
  21. I think it's enlightening people who don't want to be or are not ready to be yet. Some people accept change quickly whereas others fear or don't want it, which also comes down to the OP's point about political lines. I wonder what the EV threads would be like if the EV haters didn't comment. Would there actually be any content? I quite enjoy following the bickering as I actually learn quite a lot from it, more so than reading fact checking articles.
  22. I think a lot of the anti EV crowd just generally dislike the holier than though attitude of EV owners rather than EV itself. The preaching and superiority complex is akin to cyclists, vegans, and 'the left'.
  23. I wanted to trade in my previous Honda for a different model and was told they didn't accept part exchange. Rather than spending a million baht with Honda I traded it in with Ford instead. Maybe it was just the two garages I went to, but I was amazed Honda wouldn't accepted a car back that was in great condition.
