  1. A is line from well pump
B goes from buffer tank to pump
    C pressurised water to house
D E F lines to different locations in your house
If you have pressure problems probably the pump in the alu housing needs to be replaced.
It would also be good to see where the pump is located which feed your A line? Deepwell pump? Submersible pump?

  2. Many years ago on a holiday (staying with a Western relative who had lived here a few years), a Big C or Tesco Lotus cashier 'waied' me as I was leaving the checkout.  I returned the wai, and the cashier was definitely taken aback.  Her look combined confusion/amusement/embarrassment - which left me confused !

Fortunately my relative was there and later explained why returning the wai confused her, and made me look like an amiable idiot.

Having now lived here a few years, its far easier to bow my head in response to a wai.  The only exceptions are when someone has helped me out or have been particularly nice in some way (particularly if they are elderly) - in which case I'll give a 'high' wai to express my gratitude.

Maybe her confusion had nothing to do with your wai?

  3. Why wai?  A proper 'farang' wai is no wai at all.  A head nod will suffice.

However, if you live here and interact with many Thais on a daily basis, it is worth knowing how to wai properly.  If you don't know how to wai proper, don't: you simply end up looking like an idiot, e.g., extending a high wai to a 5 year old.  Which is why if you don't know how to properly wai, default to a nod.

Again, returning a way will never make you look like an idiot. Of course children is a different matter, normally you never wai to children unless it is part of a play..

  4. In general, I am under the impression that it's considered ridiculous to return a wai to someone who is paid to wai the customers all day long, i.e. a store cashier, hotel doorman, etc.  Certainly don't see Thai people doing it.

I agree many Thai will not return their wai, my point was that returning a wai is ok and will not be considered an embarrassment. The examples you give are relevant and I have to agree that also for me this is borderline.

  5. I am talking about "returning" a wai, so how can this be inappropriate? As far as I know, thai people will always appreciate this more than no wai at all. I work with Thai people every day during the last 20 years, I just wanted to share this experience.

  6. Depending on the situation it could seem silly or even cause them embarrassment or discomfort. It could even be seen as mocking although Thais generally realize that farang are just unaware of the faux pas and are not trying to cause offence (similar to someone who is mentally handicapped).

Please enlighten me how returning a wai could cause embarrassment or discomfort..just one example would make your case

  7. Red in Thailand does not always mean "don't" how many U turn signs are red? If U turn not allowed it is the same red plate but with diagonal black line. Normally at a red traffic light you can turn left unless there is a separate arrow on the traffic light which will indicate if you can turn or not. So this sign could be avoided... The thai language on the sign is clear but I agree the english translation could be better explained but at least they do an effort, in many countries there is no english translation at all.

  8. IMO more like 90% of the population will have nothing meaningful to do. Look at the chaos caused by a mere 5 or so % unemployed and extrapolate that.
Anyone fancy that the 1% will be helping out voluntarily?

It is worrisome, 90% is probably in reach to be replaced by machines. This part of the population has no use anymore for further evolution of mankind. In time they will just cease to exist. So there will be not much demand left for consumer goods. Our species is nearing the ultimate goal of evolution. To become even more advanced in all possible ways we will create androids with multiple times our own capacities which in turn will make us useless. Why continue with mortal and desease prone simple humans when a new robotic race with super intelligence is created. They won't need us anymore even not as slaves. THE END
