  1. Depending on .... LOCAL OFFICE POLICY.... You might have to file a NEW TM-30 since you were out of country - even returning to same address. As to 90 day reports, if YOU are PHYSICALLY in the country 90 straight days you must file the TM-47. Many offices will let you do up to 5 days early. You DID have a re-entry permit to keep your extension valid?
  2. """What connection does this have with the mission of the Tourist Police?""" Using your logic, 2 Thai's fighting in a bar should be ignored by Tourist Police on Pattaya Walking Street? ( Operative word POLICE) Since most folks do not understand, Tourist Police are a division of the RTP with full police authority / powers - ( HINT IMMIGRATION IS also division of the RTP ).
  3. Grab in Korat After 20:00 the taxi drivers at the bus station wanted 300bt ( Thai wife with me ) to take us home. We walked to the coffee shop, called GRAB, cost 120bt. The average ROUND TRIP to center city 260 to 270bt with Grab. ONE way travel with taxi IF meter IS USED, 230bt. For some reason most taxi's don't use GPS and you have to show them the way - where to turn.. With Grab, usuallly the only transport question is "which house".
  4. stitch-up British for being "set up" among OTHER uses.
  5. The bags weighed almost as much as she (100+pounds -US weight ) weighs. No way a person could NOT feel the weight difference even with a wheeled suitcase. Several bags on a short trip, yeah right!!! Too many things do not add up especially the stated reason of only a "short trip"
  6. DEPENDING on ""LOCAL"" OFFICE POLICY, you might have to also file a NEW TM-30 since you left the country. My "LOCAL" office requires - 1st hand knowledge as my TM-47 was refused until I filed a new TM-30 after my trip outside Thailand. Check with your LOCAL IO for THEIR policy
  7. Although IN THEORY, not a Democrat, but traveling the country with AOC, saying how bad the MAGA / REPUBLICANS are, and how they benefit ONLY the """rich"' a sample of his lifestyle is presented: https://share.newsbreak.com/d2mmg9ag
  8. You can also use a 2 SIM TABLET, but I use via WiFi. I get same price as using mobile. Its a lot easier to read a tablet. Buy a tablet, LAZADA under 1,500bt, and it is also a backup if your mobile gets broken.
  9. """So if you were not over 60 or disabled your S**T out of luck as far as your 10,000 goes...Which by the way means most of the Thai population...""" This says it all. Younger folks have the advantage of YOUTH and more employment opportunity. OLDER folks mostly live on a FIXED INCOME and, in my opinion, would be better served with the 'digital wallet" .... that could equal 2 months of food ( a major expense )
  10. ""they are implemented as two different data processing systems that are not interconnected and do not talk to each other."" It ALL depends on the LOCAL OFFICE POLICIES. At MY office, your TM-47 must match your TM-30. Also, if returning from OUT of country, you must file a NEW TM-30 even returning to same address. 1st hand knowledge. 90 day report a IMMIGRATION WEBSITE The way I read it, the offcer was wrong what was told you. https://uttaradit.immigration.go.th/en/notification-of-staying-in-the-kingdom-for-more-than-90-days/
  11. 90-day report (TM47) is due when one PHYSICALLY STAYS in Thailand for 90 consecutive days Day 1 is WHEN you pass immigration. Most offices will allow you to do a TM-47 up to 5 days early. ALL paperwork depends on LOCAL IO policy, ASK your LOCAL IO what their policy is, be safe.
  12. Had my "stache" 60+ years
  13. This should be a insight for those new x-pats that come here with notions of land ownership or company owership. Marry and have your wife own....if you can trust her.
  14. If I am not mistaken, if a AMERICAN accepts and uses a Royal title or becomes the head of a foreign government, they have given up their citizenship. I could be wrong, my school class was over 60 years ago.
  15. About 9 years ago when I was a FTPA member, I was stopped in BKK by 2 ""plain clothes officers"". I said " I'll show you mine, you show me yours" as I pulled out my ID case. If you have ever seen a road runner cartoon, the bird was slow motion compared to the way they disappeared.
  16. I know of one on 5 bus lines, near MEGA BANG NA mall, plenty of other transport CLEAN, FARANG FRIENDLY, HOT SHOWER, TV, FRIG and etc, CLOSE to restaurants, 7-11, bars, M&P stores, 500bt daily - monthly 7000bt plus utilities available. They exist!
  17. """Yes a holiday resort area catering to tourists should obviously be speaking English""" Why not CHINESE, Japanese, Spanish, German or another language. Why just English? .... The 2 most spoken languages in the world, and much business is conducted mostly in ENGLISH and CHINESE .... My landlord does NOT speak English ( landlord of 3 years and village headman ) hello GOOGLE TRANSLATE. Works for both of us.
  18. My niece ( via marriage ) and her boyfriend had a fabulous idea to take over a restaurant for 100,000bt. ( I am the only farang in family of 6 siblings ) I ask the niece: How much rent, How much utilities, How old is equipment, what inventory is included ....she couldn't answer.... Ok, so I decided to go to the restaurant and count customers. Located on a major soi, NO parking, Walked passed ...5... other restaurants to get to shop. From 11:30 to 13:30 ... 6 LUNCH TIME customers ( 2 were wife and me ) Our cost for our meal 120bt including 2 water bottles. Need I say more? I saw no future.
  19. """Why don't you simply get a new card?""" That solution is tooooooo simple and usually costs 100bt ... and a Service Desk trip.
  20. I use KRUNGSRI bank. I have used OTHER banks ATM's in BKK, PATTAYA, KORAT with no "using other banks ATM's" service charges. Also, no 'service charges" at a KRUNGSRI ATM anywhere in mentioned areas. Have made deposits and withdrawals at various KRUNGSRI bank branches in mentioned areas, no "service charges" Largest ATM withdraw 50,000bt, usually withdraw 5,000 to 30,000bt.
  21. """Except if the visitor is a non Thai the landlord is responsible for lodging the TM 30 is he not?""" In this case the person renting or in POSSESSION of the condo is 1) House Master, 2) Possessor, 3) Tenant IS responsible for the TM-30 The landlord is NOT responsible for the tenants visitors TM-30
  22. The person in physical control of the place ( the condo ) where the foreigner stays IS responsible for a TM-30 within 24 hours. Read the Immigration Act Sections 4 & 38 Let's look at my LOCAL IO POLICY: So I leave the country next month on holiday, I return and file the new """ELECTRONIC TM-6""" ( address where I will stay ) 3 days before entry, I return to my SAME ADDRESS of 4+ years - LOCAL POLICY says within 24 hours I have to file a new TM-30. === So we are talking 5 minutes out of my super busy retirement life === As I said many times, it ALL depends on LOCAL POLICY and LOCAL ENFORCEMENT
  23. """.....out and about in the wrong places or your....""" Well, the last place was at the Korat Immigration Office with a BRIT / THAI couple, before that at"The Mall" with a YANK / THAI couple at DIY. Yep, in all the wrong places You sure as hell do not know much about Thai women talking to each other, even if just meeting - they almost always compair their lifestyles when they have a farang as a partner.
  24. 63 baht !! 😆 Try 7-11, open 24 hours a day - where I got one.
