  1. My 2¢'s. The mistake was LEAVING without PAYING the bar bill. They have long memories, and if she see's you walking by the bar, and a cop is handy.....trouble!!! I would be staying away from that area...period.
  2. Having lived in Thailand 10 years, and spent 4 years as a FTPA member, I have seen and heard much. WE are guests in this country, and should behave as such. It doesn't matter what Thai's do or for that matter anyone in the country - citizen or foreigner does - you do not skirt / break any Thai rules or laws. The "computer crime" regulations / laws are strict, and especially strict on what is considered - by ANYONE that files a complaint - "obscene" material. Since he is a regular streamer from Thailand, he should know this. Other things he could have been charged with include no work permit ( he probably makes money streaming ), improper visa and etc, etc, and etc American or not, learn and obey regulations and laws in ANY country you visit, stay or live in. There ARE some regulations I don't like or agree with, but since Thailand allows me to live here, I will obey the regulations / rules.
  3. The simple answer is to find out the POLICY of your LOCAL IO Usually a TM-30 IS reqired when you MOVE to a NEW address within 24 IO open hours. I move on a Friday AFTER 18:00 so I have till the following Monday BEFORE the IO. closes to do a new TM-30 and I always file as possessor with related necessary documents. Your landlord ( property owner ) is requied to file ( MANY do not ) ...BUT REMEMBER...YOU are responsible that ALL your paperwork is up to date
  4. Korat Immigration really has their act together 1000%. 90 day report 2 to 5 minutes usually on a Tue or Wed, after 10AM TM-30 took 15 minutes to process 3 US visitors that stayed at my house, I signed as possessor. Can't say enough how fast and helpful they are.
  5. In 10 years I have never been asked to show a rental contract. Having said that, 9 years ago a Brit friend was told he had to produce his "ORIGINAL" rental contract while doing a 90 day report - same address 12 years. The landlord went to immigration with him straighten things out.
  6. IF you are a foreigner, the general rule is you can not OWN land ( lot? ). Maximum time you can own land if your spouce dies and spouce owns land ( tera firma ), and gives to you in a will, is 1 year, if I am not mistaken, Setting up a company, ...JUST... to own / buy / purchase land ( and build a house ), IF you are not Thai, is not a good idea at all..
  7. It amazzzzzes me how many men from India wear gold chains late at night ( early morn ) while they go for a stroll.
  8. I ALWAYS do a TM-30 when I move to NEW residence. I move on a Friday after 18:00 so I have till the following Monday at the LOCAL IO closing time to file. I do as POSSESSOR. Had family ( 2 adults 1 child ) visit me from the states, did their TM-30 in 15 minutes at loal IO with my PP, TM-30, Rental agment. People forget, ...YOU ARE.. responsible for ALL YOUR paperwork being up to DATE.
  9. The TM-30 requirements depend on YOUR LOCAI IO POLICY. I always file a TM-30 as POSSESSOR myself when I move, ( or if I was to leave Thailand ) and have documents to support the above - rental agreement / lease, utility deposits / bills, and etc. We had a family stay with us for a month, I filed a TM-30 in under 15 for 2 adults and 1 child. Find out your LOCAL IO POLICY to be on the safe side. YOU are responsible that ...ALL... YOUR PAPERWORK is in order.
  10. ""But what if his wife opens a business and he just wants to work for her?"" As a general rule, must have 4 Thai employee to 1 foreigner ( a wife generally would count as 1 employee ) Best advice, contact a good LAWYER. There ARE different circumstances depending on the business type and also ...YOUR... nationality
  11. I use TEXTNOW, a FREE service, unlimited text and voice calls. I have a US ( Kentucky by choice ) number that rings on my Thai mobile (apk) as long as I have a DATA or WiFi connection They also have a paid service - remove small ad's and a free sim service in US. I also use it for US banking. OTP and etc. IF you have a connection problem,=>>UPDATE<<= the apk< happened 1 time in 2 years
  12. If you have been here for some time you LEARN that """OFFICE POLICY RULES.""" I ALWAYS file a TM-30 as POSESSOR and have the necessary documents to prove - rental / lease, UTILITY bills and deposits. Sometimes the landlord files, sometimes not. YOU are ...RESPONSIBLE,,, that ALL Immigration docs are UP TO DATE period.
  13. ......"AIS do not do the fixed 12 month as add-on but you can get 30 day auto renew which may be an option if you want to use the same sim"....... Bought my AIS sim on line while living in USA. Called AIS and it was activated within 2 hours, bought "time" on line, no problem. Still using same sim 10 years later in Thailand but now under contract.
  14. I have been using THAI MILITARY hospitals for 9+ years. Most military dotcors are US or UK trained. My latest prescriptions ( 4 months 1@2x daily and 1@1xs daily ) and including Doctors visit and lab work was 1,200THB. In the US, 1 MONTHLY prescription with co-pay was $29.00US. When it comes to health, why not visit a MILITARY hospitals .. clinic ..for a checkup. HINT: you have to register 1st and get a (( FREE )) hospital ID card, passport needed You pay the same price Thai civilian's pay. I spent 5 days in a ARMY hospital, 4 days xrays, 5 days lab, discharged with 4 months meds. Paid about the same as a 5 day stay at a decent downtown hotel, 12,000THB
  15. I installedand registered while in Thailand WITHOUT a VPN. Has been working fine for 2 years except for 2 days - upgraded app, no problem after. You MUST use or LOOSE number without "locking" your number. Not aproblem for me, use 3-4 tmes a week. Usually to one person, have been on phone call OVER 1 hour.
  16. I have a US number ( Kentucky ) that rings on my mobile in Thailand via VOIP. It is a FREE NUMBER that works anywhere you can connect to WiFi or use your data. Voice AND text. It is a ....application.... that rings your mobile even if you are using your mobile TEXTNOW.COM I use it for my US BANKING and VOICE calls inboud / outbound - NO video. NOTE:There are several plans - free to paid. You can probably port your US number. HINT: CHECK for application updates especially.... IF ....you get a error when you call UPDATE!!!!
  17. Depending onthe hospital they can: Docuement you stay, Some are able to do immigration services for you If you are on your own, take ALL HOSPITAL receipts with you to immigration if you need to stay and plead your case. Some ( a few only ) have got a pass. Your chances are better with a supervisor ""SOMETIMES"". It all depends on the boffice
  18. If possible; Signed copy of landlords ID CARD and house book, rental agreement. Otherwise; Rental agreement, deposit receipts for utilities. I have done with these items TM-30 should be done within 24 open Immigration office hours. I move on Friday AFTER 18:00 so i have till Monday to do mine. My last move was done when the office was closed on Thurs and Fri and the following Mon, so i had a total of 6 days to do, including the weekend. No problem, done in 12 minutes @ 10:00 Tues. NOT AT CW, have filed as POSSESSOR at 3 different offices as outlined. Also filed 3 weeks later as POSSESSOR for three 1 month long visitors, 18 minutes.
  19. I thiink it DEPENDS on where the product - especially food was made and packaged. I got 2kg of Kellogs corn flakes made in India as a test. 6 small packages of cereal in a 'big plastic' bag. Product was good and because of packaging, last bag was as fresh as the 1st after 4 months with good taste and texture. As a Yank, I try to buy several American produced and packaged - so the package says, in the US monthly, and, have had good luck for 8 years. I do buy BISTO and make sure it's imported - so the package says. I have found the MANY international brands available - not produced in original country, are NOT of the same quality, quanity or taste as made in the original country.
  20. For the life of me I DO NOT understand why some people wait to the LAST SECOND to comply with the required immigration paperwork. In most cases you can submit your paperwork ( depending on what process ( extension and etc ) ) you need from 5 days to 45 days in ADVANCE of the "due" date. The reason you do in advance, is to give you some time to take care of ANY problems that present themselves when making your application.
  21. My birthday is in October, I renew extensin of stay ( retirement ) in MAY
  22. I always file a TM-30 WITHIN 24 IO open hours. I move on Friday night AFTER 18:00 so I have till the following Monday to file. I take PASSPORT with proper visa / stamps / extension, DEPOSIT RECEIPTS for utilities, LEASE, copy of owner ID and HOUSE BOOK - IF POSSIBLE. I register as POSSESSOR. ( 3 offices so far in 9 years ) It depends on your LOCIAL IO policy ...IF... they will accept. DOCUEMENT ( waiting number slip ) your visit in case of future problems.
  23. Have done several times as POSSESSOR, have supporting documents IN YOUR NAME at the address such as: utility deposits, instillation appointment, etc A TM-30 is to be filed within 24 hours of moving to new address.
  24. 2 days after we were married we went to get a YELLOW book. It took a total of 5 days ( plus the weekend ).
