  1. It varies, the TM30 slip in my passport is from 2015, been out of the country many times and done several extensions since then. Last Aug came back on a new E-visa extended in Nov and no mention of TM30.
  2. I did one towards end of January, first after coming back last August and no problem doing it online. Just did it again a few minutes ago, approval immediate, can't get better than that.
  3. Of course it is "dumb" to think there is something wrong with 30 days visa exemption because it inconveniences you. Tell me, how many days visa exemption does the US offer to Thai nationals?
  4. A bit the same here, only time was when I got picked up for ony 5 months on passport. When I went to Vietnam a couple of years ago on visa exemption the IO insisted on seeing the return flight. I hadn't thought about it and my wife had the tickets and she had already gone through. Bit of a performance getting her back to the desk.
  5. People are more than happy to adapt to modern technology when it suits them, when it doesn't suit it is all "too complicated". Without a doubt the Laos and Vietnamese e-visa process is much simpler than the Thai but Thailand is much more progressive in that there is a multitude of visa options available. You cannot enter Laos without a visa and if you are lucky you may get 15 days visa exemption for Vietnam, but no one ever complains about that.
  6. The post never mentioned leaving Thailand so a 60 day would be all that was required. As suggested, waiting more than 30 days to visit another country in a 6 week stay would be a bit dumb. "An American friend from Nebraska wanted to spend a six-weeks summer vacation with his family of totally five here in Thailand. " Bit out of touch with TVs these days but think it is £45 in the UK. I came here regularly for about 4-6 weeks in the 9 years prior to moving here in 2008. Very seldom used visa exemption, normally a 60 day TV.
  7. You could try looking at what happened when previous temporary incentives ended, did tourism deteriorate or continue to improve? History shows that the only major effects on tourism have been the financial crisis, the tsunami and covid, not the government, even a coup now and again has had little effect.
  8. What exactly are you trying to say, only Singapore Law applies, not the card rules and regulations.?
  9. False information. A tourist visa is in the $30 - $50 range.
  10. Exactly. They should abandon visa exemption altogether and we wouldn't have all this whinging.
  11. Why did you find it so difficult to understand that you should have a tourist visa like other countries. Thailand makes it easy , but it is never enough for some people.
  12. Garbage. Anyone who wants to come to Thailand for more than 30 days should arrive with an appropriate visa.
  13. You really need to tighten up on context, or is it outside your vocabulary. If there is a question to be asked it should have been "What did Thailand gain by returning to the same policy that has been used for many years?" You seem to unable to differentiate the difference between promotional incentive and immigration policy. Thailand has regularly used short term promotional incentives. A few years back they cancelled the fee on tourist visas for a short time. Obviously in your opinion there should never have been tourist visa fees ever again.
  14. I didn't have to pay anything coming out of Laos at NK a few weeks back, also on e-visa. My wife had to pay something, think it was 20 baht.
  15. Looks fairly clear to me that LG use a capacitor motor for the fan motor. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/546694842274291386/
  16. CBB61 is a fairly common type used on small motors, readily avaiable on Lazada. https://www.lazada.co.th/products/cbb61-1uf15uf18uf2uf25uf3uf35uf4uf45uf5uf-450vac-i4151415159-s16294181494.html?from_gmc=1&exlaz=d_1:mm_150050845_51350205_2010350205::12:19039203577!!!!!c!!16294181494!227953178&gclid=Cj0KCQjwz6ShBhCMARIsAH9A0qXkanG0ulVt2x0kzGxhmpCS1q7ENIYcuS5gWvKNpIml-AFb0IqA5mEaAtLkEALw_wcB
  17. Every chance the compressor is fitted with a thermal trip so if the cooling fan does not kick in the compressor will shut down. If you can get at the cooling fan connections you could disconnect it and put a supply direct to the motor to see if it runs. If it doesn't then a good chance there is a capacitor somewhere that has failed.
  18. Capacitors are required to shift the phase angle in the second winding of a single phase motor and can be a start or run capacitor, or both. When both are used the start capcitor is switched out when the motor gets up to speed.
  19. What kind of motor is on the cooling fan? The majority of single phase motors use a capacitor but if you know for a fact it is a shaded pole or split phase motor then you would be right. Electrolytic capacitors are fairly obvious but smaller motors often use an encapsulated capacitor which may not be obvious.
  20. Always a possibility when a motor does not run or runs slowly. Capacitors deteriorate and over the years I have changed the capacitor in nearly all my ceiling fans, 2 of the water pumps and recently one in a submersible pump. I have 2 LG aircons that are now 13 years old, no problem with motors, only leaks.
  21. Wrong to say things like that. I have only ever used scanned images and never had a problem.
  22. That may well be the case and would apply had it been a cash transaction. However when cards are involved the company is also subject to the rules and regulations of the card platform being used. The Visa platfom rules are extremely comprehensive and complex. this particular rule on compelling evidence is changing next month. "Effective for pre-Arbitration attempts processed on or after 15 April 2023 Photographic or email evidence to prove a link between the person receiving the merchandise or services and the Cardholder, or to prove that the Cardholder disputing the Transaction is in possession of the merchandise and/or is using the merchandise or services." https://www.visa.co.th/en_TH/support/consumer/visa-rules.html
  23. That could be said about many countries around the world. It is an awful lot easier for a foreigner to live in Thailand than a foreigner to live in the UK, or many other major economies. About ten years ago the UK brought in a financial threshold for foreign nationals which effectively prevented those on a state pension from ever having a foreign spouse, and you think you are hard done by. Of course the "hostile environment" that exists in other countries would never be seen as xenophobic or racist on this forum, reserved explicitly for the Thai government. For some reason expats in Thailand think they are entitled to benefits not afforded to others. Hypocrites complain about a lack of standards but are quite happy when the lack of standards suits them, nowt so queer as folk.
