Liking it and selling it are two different issues. Not long before the pandemic I made the mistake of booking into a hotel on Langkawi where no alcohol allowed on the premises. Takes the edge off when confined to the room. Nothing can be taken for granted. A couple of years ago Tesco built a second supermarket in Chonburi, no alcohol sold there. My wife gets a bit annoyed driving past it to go to the other. I had hoped that when Lotus took over the policy would change but not so far. Fortunately, generally speaking it is not really a problem.

In 2019 we rented an Airbnb in China. After a couple of days the police were banging on the door. My wife wouldn't open the door, just phoned the owner and a bit later the police left. The owner phoned back and said it was sorted, he had forgotten to report that foreigners were staying in the apartment. He thought one of the neighbours had shopped us to the police.

Not going to help you at the moment. When I went to Lao a few weeks back we had to pay the hotel on check in. Agoda prices are based in USD and I just used my Wise card which usually has a USD balance. All very easy and no charges, maybe something to think about. If you use the UK credit card you will be faced with the non sterling transaction fee and if the bank has not been informed a possibility of the transaction being blocked. In your position I would stick to cash. Unlike Bali, I found the rates for THB to be fairly consistent in Vietnam if you stick to recognised exchangers.

Agoda Booking Scam
sandyf replied to Dan747's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Agoda is a subsidiary of Booking Holdings. When I initially had a problem I wrote to both Agoda and Booking Holdings by registered mail. The fact that neither replied was part of the case put forward by the bank. -
Agoda Booking Scam
sandyf replied to Dan747's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I have had issues with Agoda but there are a couple of points you have not made clear. Firstly to book with Agoda you need an account which you must have if made previous bookings. You have not mentioned what appears on the account, the majority of Agoda bookings have a cancellation policy. If the charge is not yet confirmed the booking must still be open. You never mentioned when the booking was for or when it was made. You have not indicated if the booking was made on your account or the possibility someone has added your card to their account. You have not mentioned emails. When the booking took place you would have received a booking confirmation email. Agoda will not respond in a sensible manner to any communication from an email that is not the email attached to the Agoda account. You would need to check the junk folder on the Agoda email, if the booking was recent the email should still be there. Unfortunately some emails will auto delete junk after a certain period. Is there any possibility the email has been hacked, a couple of years ago I found someone using one of my emails. The type of card used can make a difference and being from the UK I am not sure about the US, in the UK credit cards come under the Consumer Protection Act but there should be some cover for illegal activity. I had to pay for 14 days quarantine but due to changes I only did 7 days and Agoda refused to refund the difference. I took the matter to the bank and there was a protracted process but Agoda capitulated in the end. -
Not being a cardiologist I can only go on experience. I had a check up at the Chonburi Cancer hospital and was advised to see a cardiologist who straight away carried out an echo, never bothered with an ECG. No doubt in your infinite wisdom you will now say what he should have done. BTW the OP never said slow heart rate, said falling heart rate, not necessarily the same thing.

Why were 20% of the Thai population not infected with COVID-19?
sandyf replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The don't, statistical assessment and there appears to be some basis for it. Two weeks ago my wife's brother, his wife and his sister went up to CM, a 12 hour drive, to see their daughter at uni for about 4 days. While there they met some old friends and daughters friends from uni. On the return journey the wife felt ill and the following morning tested positive for covid, neither the brother or the sister have tested positive since returning. I would have thought that 12 hours in the same vehicle would have almost guaranteed infection, but apparently not. During the pandemic neither the brother or the sister became infected as far as they know but the wife tested positive on more than one occasion. -
Don't be ridiculous. If I had used the proper name Burapha University Hospital unlikley the OP would have known where it was. Of course you are free to call it what you want but there is only the one hospital in Bang Saen. I never mentioned Red Cross, never been there but having been inside Chonburi hospital many times as a visitor and had one of my covid there it is not somewhere I would recommend, like something out of the dark ages, but obviously you are free to do so. As far as the OP is concerned the first step would be an echocardiogram and that can be done at Bang Saen in a modern facility for a reasonable price. If you think it can be done cheaper at Sri Ratcha then that may well be a better option being nearer.

Irrelevant excuses. An apology to the poster you misread wouldn't go amiss. The pigs are AF'd, BF'd and ready to fly. -
I am registered at both Bang Saen and Chonburi hospitals and I can assure you Bang Saen is far better than Chonburi and a bit nearer. Quite easy from Pattaya, you can get a minibus from top of Pattaya Klang to far end of Nong Mon market and then baht cab to the hospital. I see a cardiologist there regularly, 100 baht a time, think I was about 5K for an ECHO. It is a university hospital, the building is relatively new and well organised. Once registered you can get a walk in appointment. http://buh.buu.ac.th/buh64/index.php

Short multiple Entry requirement question
sandyf replied to Chris KL's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Some people think there is only one interpretation, theirs. The OP never said how or where the application was being made. The paper form method is a bit different to the E-visa. The E-visa is being rolled out on a standardised format and the questions are not always worded as appropriately as they should be. I suspect the same question would appear on other types of visa with a multi entry option. That being the case a tick is not an option, a text answer would be required such as "Itinerary to include visit to neighbouring countries, arrangements to be made locally." -
How does that indicate the supply is being interfered with? From previous threads 8 baht is a fairly common landlord rate. The subject was beaten to death following the pandemic.

You should respond to what is posted, not what you think is posted. -
No, I only need to look at how much is going to come out of my bank account when it is due. From time to time I do have a look at the usage, more to see how it changes at different seasons and over the years. My usage indicates the winter is starting earlier.

One of the big problems is position and how much sun the walls are exposed to. Many years ago I went to rent a condo in Pattaya and when he opened the door I couldn't go in. I just said if he didn't have one on the other side of the building I would look elsewhere. He did, obviously tried to get me into the hot one first. If it is uncomfortable, either thermally or financially you may have to consider moving.

The OP said he pays 8 baht a unit and I just paid 1845.22 baht for 358 units. Who do you think is being overcharged? The OP had the aircon set too low but the first reaction of many on here was that the supply was being interfered with, typical falang mentality. The correct amount is what appears on the bill, up to you if you want to try and prove otherwise.

Bottom line is you do not really have an investment to protect. You are not going to win on this and will end up walking in the footsteps of others who have tried. You say there is no bad blood at the moment, best to keep it that way. I have been in my house 13 years so it does not owe me anything, friend of mine never even lived in his before the divorce proceedings started.

Airbnb sees strong international travel rebound in Thailand
sandyf replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Time to grow up. It is not Airbnb at fault, it is the developers building too many condos with insufficient viable customers. Empty units have been sold off to the wrong people hoping to make money renting them out. Nothing new in that. Back in the 80s unsold timeshare on the Costa Del Fortune was offered to all the major holiday companies in Europe. Those that had bought and paid were having their "vibe" disrupted by intoxicated Europeans partying all night long. Every chance that some that partied the night away are now sitting in condos complaining. -

In a nutshell effectively what the court ruled is that in the case of condos, the number of rooms for letting purposes must be taken as the whole building, irrespective of what is individually owned. -

Why would you think that? Wait a minute, false info on TVF!! -
You must get a different bill to me. On mine there is only one amount I have to pay the PEA.

You challenged this statement, over usage, and then qoted rates that excluded fees. "With taxes I am paying 5,5 baht a kwh on a bill i received on the 23rd of March 23"
