  1. Yes to some the 700 baht Thailand charges is far too much, but the 6000 or so the UK charges is irrelevant. Taxes/fees/charges Government, authority and airport charges Per adult E7AD THB 35.00 E7AP THB 35.00 Passenger Service Charge (Domestic) - Thailand THB 700.00 Air Passenger Duty - United Kingdom THB 3,425.00 Passenger Service Charge - United Kingdom THB 3,010.00 Total government, authority and airport charges* > More information THB 7,205.00
  2. I think there may be some confusion over the wording. The policy document I received from Emirates was not issued by an airline, their name does not appear anywhere on the document. Although titled AIG Travel Guard, the policy was underwritten by American Home Insurance in Dubai.
  3. Exactly what I did, and got rejected by London Embassy. Got COE as unvaccinated.
  4. In a nutshell, yes. I am in the same position, they rejected my COE saying I had to provide a proper vaccination certificate. I deleted what I had put up regarding vaccination effectively making me unvaccinated and resubmitted, got approval by return stating 10 days quarantine.
  5. Everyone has to do what suits best, but that is always better done knowing as much as possible. I can check in to the Travelodge and use my bus pass to get to the test centre. As a visitor to the UK it is a bit academic where I test positive, big problem irrespective.
  6. I am in Sheffield and my flight is Thursday afternoon. A test here would be about £150 so I am travelling down Wednesday and stay overnight at the Travelodge for £38. Booked the test for 6pm on Wednesday.
  7. I used Collinson that charge £95. Google Collinson promo codes for a discount.
  8. I have just booked a PCR test at Heathrow, cost £76 and result within 3 hours.
  9. Why do you think you need to tell me that, I have been sitting waiting on COE approval for 2 weeks. My wife told me last Sunday the quarantine had been reduced and couldn't understand the holdup.
  10. You shouldn't listen to the garbage. I got my COE last night and it was done with insurance from the airline. I got rejected initially for being double vaccinated but approved a few minutes later when I resubmitted as unvaccinated. That is what I would call bizarre.
  11. Quite. One of the problems on here is the proposals tend to become public a few days before they get cabinet approval but there are those that want to believe they have already been implemented.
  12. I use a wireless keyboard/mouse and the last one I bought from Lazada which was usb rechargeable only has English characters on it. It is a Chinese make Inphic and has been very good.
  13. Wrong again. The problem is about recognition of the "proof" of vaccinations administered by countries outside the UK, other than a select few. Thailand is only one of the 170 or so countries "not trusted", but why should facts get in the way of a good xenophobic debate.
  14. I am well aware of that, my application has been awaiting approval for over a week. There are various websites involved and the London one was a couple of hours ago yet to be updated, but it has now A few minutes ago the agoda website was still showing 14/15 days were required for booking a quarantine package. As said some sites will respond to the changes faster than others.
  15. Obviously some are quicker to update than others, London still says 14 days.
  16. That is not strictly true. The medical side of the NHS does recognise the vaccination of people outside the UK and has published guidance on the subject. I had first jab in Thailand and then went to 2 walk- in centres in the UK. The first refused to give me a jab because I couldn't get the app to open on my phone, turned out they had done an update and I had to reinstall it. Second walk-in wasn't a problem and I got the jab. They stamped my card as a second jab but I can't get a certificate because you have to have 2 jabs on your NHS record. The "proof" side of things is run by the pen pushers as opposed to medics, a different domain altogether. However my useless card did get me served at a pub in Dublin, guy didn't look too closely.
  17. I have been in touch with the NHS over this issue and this was the second reply, first being irrelevant BS. We can understand your frustration. At the moment vaccines administered overseas cannot be recorded in the UK vaccine system so no vaccine certificate is currently available from the NHS. This issue is being worked on and an update is expected shortly. Kind regards, National Customer Service Team, NHS App and NHS Login Part of NHS Digital, www.digital.nhs.uk I then asked why I couldn't have a certificate for the vaccination I did have administered by the NHS, and more BS. Thank you for your reply. We're sorry for the inconvenience. This issue is being worked on and an update is expected shortly. We're keen to hear about your ideas for the NHS App and your suggestion is useful to help guide the app's development. For more information on future developments for the app, go to the following link: https://digital.nhs.uk/services/nhs-app/future-developments
  18. Since when did the Thai Embassy accept unsigned documents without a name on them. The Thai Embassy in London may have overlooked the criteria in respect of your NHS card but does not mean the same would apply to others.
  19. Quite, Major Catastrophe Johnson's flat need a makeover so he raised the 10 day quarantine from £1760 to around £2300.
  20. Yes that is me, due back next week, first jab in Thailand and second in UK. The NHS do not have the ability to issue proof of vaccination for one jab, only if done twice. They gave me a card indicating a second dose but it doesn't even have my name on it.
  21. Only to those that can't tell the difference. "a halving of a two-week hotel isolation requirement for vaccinated arrivals," "those without vaccination proof would be isolated for 10 days if arriving by air, and 14 days if by land."
  22. Did you say "rapid" or not? "Walgreen's does a free rapid Covid test."
  23. After being passed around several NHS depts, this is part of a response I received. "At the moment vaccinations administered overseas are not currently captured in the UK vaccination database. As a result of this the NHS COVID Pass service is unable to generate the COVID Pass or Letter. The NHS is currently working on a solution to this issue; however, this may take some time and we thank you for your continued patience."
  24. That would be the uneducated view. If those in the 50s took the same stance, we wouldn't have to listen to so many whinging anti vaxers.
