  1. The proposal is based on expected increases in revenue during 2024.
  2. It is only a proposal at the moment. There is currently a problem over the proposal in how payments would be made which needs BOT approval. The 50/50 scheme worked very well so I wouldn't see why they need to change.
  3. Best comment in the thread. The problem is that many come to Thailand and then become quite outraged when they begin to realise there is a difference. From there on in they blame very one in authority for things not being the way they want and in particular when it comes to cost. Comments about lowering prices are quite typical and across the board, the concept of controlling sales or amending product orientation is outside normal comprehension.
  4. You answered on the basis of assumption which I consider to be quite arrogant, nobody can presume to know the intention of others. If you thought he had it wrong then your answer should have been 2 fold, addressing a change in visa and also a change in reason for extension, with a request to clarify. I thought the context of the text used in the OP indicated that the OP did mean what was posted. Using uppercase for "visa" would normally indicate some thought had gone into it. That turned out to be wrong and indeed that being the case your answer was spot on. Thanks on the last point.
  5. This is what I said in respect of the Non B but feel free to imply some other interpretation. "To change that visa would normally mean leaving the country and re-enter with a different visa." Assumptions were made and no amount of distorted implication will vindicate that.
  6. A sad state of affairs when the media muddy the waters. This statement appeared in one article "He also said, however, that the proposal from some tourism business operators for the government to exempt entry visas for tourists from China, India and Russia is a different issue, which has security implications and has to be considered carefully." And then this in another. "Thailand’s new government is looking to ease visa rules for, initially, Chinese and Indian tourists as PM Strettha Thavisin seeks to boost tourism revenue to 3.3 trillion baht in 2024." Maybe one day we will find out what is actually on the table.
  7. This is what was posted in the OP. "Can my VISA be converted inside Thailand? " I appreciate it is difficult for you with a one track mind.
  8. I have been using an android box since the old ExpatTV? got busted a few years back. I watch TV on the android box and on my PCs with little difference so the comments about android boxes are garbage. I have tried quite a few of the free tv services but all ran into problems for one reason or another. Currently the only service I watch is TVmucho, about 70 euros a year which is UK orientated and a live service. Problems can be for a variety of reasons, most days I watch the BBC news at 5pm our time and usually reception is quite normal but some days it will stop and start a few times and sometimes so often almost unwatchable. Nothing to do with hardware or service, possibly the weather or local loading on the ISP. The bulk of the TV I watch is using Kodi, again on both devices, great to use in hotels when limited channels. Found very little in the way of problems with that, you get offered a choice of links and can stay within the limits of the hardware involved. Bit of a learning curve with Kodi but great when you get the hang of it, almost anything you want available. Can be free but I subscribe to Real Debrid for greater scope. PS If you want some regular info on IPTV you could subscribe to the Troypoint newsletter. https://troypoint.com/iptv/
  9. If you can travel a bit the package offered by Chonburi Cancer Hospital is a fairly good deal at 1600 baht. They do full bloods, stool & urine with Xray and ECG. Language can be a bit of a problem, I have the wife with me. You would need to make an appointment, usually 3/4 weeks, and results come by post 4/5 weeks later. Not for someone in a hurry but affordable for a routine basis.
  10. Visa conversion by the MFA
  11. Wasn't the point, The OP asked if his visa could be converted and that can be done with nothing wrong in doing so. Many jumped to the conclusion that he had got it wrong and didn't want to convert a visa. That is not the way things should be done but very much the norm leading to all kinds of response. Posts should be treated as they are posted and if there is any doubt on what is being asked then clarification should be sought. Where there are choices that should be addressed but there are those that seem to think it is wrong to have a choice. Indeed there are many on visas, I spent the first 6 years in Thailand on visas, forced into an extension by the UK passport fiasco in 2014. Why it it is quite important that the term "visa" be used in the correct context. The OP had put the term in upper case as if trying to make a point, something that just got ignored by most.
  12. Best advice, particularly if from a country that can enter Vietnam visa exempt. Other great alternatives would be Luang Prabang or Langkawi.
  13. If you have actually made the application and submitted it then a bit late to be asking for advice on what to put. If you haven't actually submitted the application then you can change it or delete it on the dashboard. For a SE entry you should put length of stay as 90 days and if selecting the ME option then 300 days would be ok. Regarding your OP, below is a copy of the page regarding supporting documents. There are 2 questions regarding finances, Q4 and Q10. Q10 is fairly straightforward and if you have £10K or equivalent in any bank you can just include a statement, I used my Thai account. Other situations such as income or pensions, information should be included in Q4. You do not need to do both but you must complete all so for the other just write on a piece of paper something like "please refer to Q4(or vv)", take a photo and upload that. All questions must be addressed and you can only make one upload per question so if you want to make a comment in respect of any document, again photo a written comment and combine with the document. On your last point, the SE entry would be the safer option and re-entry permits are fairly straightforward. Official Website of Thailand Electronic Visa_4.pdf
  14. Don't you think people should respond to what gets asked rather than what they think has been posted.
  15. Another office abnormality. Extension expired 23 Nov 22, applied 1st Nov 22, report back 1st Dec 22.
  16. Highlights how single minded you are, along with many others on this forum. Extensions are based on a visa and everyone has the option of changing that visa if they so choose. Those that never change their visa want to think their way is the only way.
  17. If you want to convert reason for extension rather than the visa itself as posted in OP, fair enough. I would rather be wrong on the interpretation than join the arrogant that just assume people do not know what they are talking about. Your Non B may have expired but it has not gone away, gets quoted on the TM7. A change in visa would mean a clean slate but there are many on here that will advocate all sorts to avoid such a move. Generally it is a fairly simple option if you don't mind leaving the country and something I have done regulrly for one reason or another over the last 15 years.
  18. How about you try and read posts as they are posted rather than making assumptions.
  19. If SSID was hidden, wouldn't see it on any device.
  20. Almost certainly to do with the settings on the new tablet. Very unlikely to be frequency, tablet should detect both but if not would be 2.4 rather than 5. Have you tried to connect the tablet manually? If not, go to settings and select WLAN or similar which should show the available networks. At the bottom there should be the option to "Add Network", select that and follow the prompts. It is possible that there is a limit on the number of networks displayed but if you only see a couple it won't be that. Once you enter the network details the network should become a saved network and always be displayed.
  21. No, it is not accurate but you are free to make any intepretation you want. You cannot get a long term extension without having had a visa and any application to immigration will reference that visa. To change that visa would normally mean leaving the country and re-enter with a different visa. I have changed a Non B visa to a Non O visa at the MFA visa office but I do not think that option is open to all. You may be right that the OP does not know the difference between an extension and a visa but just like Tod you are making assumptions. This is what was posted, the term "visa" in first sentence and the term "extensions" in the last, acknowledging the difference. Also the reference to visa exempt entry indicates an awareness of a route to Non O visa status. "Can my VISA be converted inside Thailand? Or, must I leave and re-enter on VISA Exempt? Can One-Stop in Bangkok do the conversion, since they currently do my Non-B extensions?"
  22. You are wrong on the first point and making assumptions on the second. Visas do not go away, they only expire but remain on your travel history. Your most recent visa can dictate options. The OP can apply for a Non O visa if he so chooses, but would have to be done outside Thailand to supersede the Non B.
  23. Termite nest removed from cavity of kitchen corner unit.
  24. Your thinking is wrong, although I would agree on appearance. I knew a guy that had a house in South Pattaya, came back from the UK one time to find kitchen eaten away. I built my own kitchen from units and fitted marble top. Ok for about 12 years but in last couple have had a few termite attacks, now a bit like whackamole. The units I bought were quite cheap and had started to delaminate paving the way to a delicious feast for the termites. It has nothing to do with being open to the elements, apart from other insects like carpenter bees, termites live underground. They can come up through cracks in the concrete of the floors and walls, a bit unwise to be complacent. It is not just kitchens. When my house was built the electrician put a supply to an external junction box. He didn't seal the rear very well and the termites got in to the box and up the conduit into the coving. The coving was wood which was supposed to have been treated but when it was taken down you coud see that different parts were eaten away as though the treatment wasn't uniform. The coving had been painted and there was no sign of termite activity until the paint started to wrinkle, which wasn't that obvious from floor level. If you have any trees or shrubs adjacent to the property you can be at risk as the termites will be attracted by the roots.
