  1. From the OP "So can't change network, but I will" Means he will take the phone to be unlocked but no doubt you will have some other obscure ideas.
  2. That is a misleading statement. With an ME visa you do not lose any time when you stamp out, you can come straight back in as the visa remains valid until expiry date. The "every 90 days" is a misnomer, it is within 90 days. Your choice so no time is "lost" when you stamp out. Any remaining time on the ME visa would be effectively lost on approval of application for another visa. If however the application was rejected for some reason the ME could still be used to re-enter.
  3. Tell me about it. My card was on collect at branch, they sent it to the wrong branch. When it was located I told them to leave it and I would collect it from there. The wrong branch sent it to the right branch, who then sent it back to the wrong branch, they sent it back to the right branch. Got over £100 in compensation for the running around.
  4. Why the lecture when what you quoted was said by someone else? It is a flaw in the system, the quote is now attributed to you.
  5. You have see the context, means locked to the True network. Almost everyone that sells phones has a sign saying "Phones Unlocked".
  6. I had a Lebara sim here in Thailand for a couple of years and that worked without a problem. Lost the number as they only allow 84 idle days and I took my eye off the ball, changed to Giffgaff. Problem may well be the phone. If anyone wants a UK number, Giffgaff will send a sim which can be activated here.
  7. You are free to take the view a post on this forum is the same thing.
  8. You are perfectly free to ignore the writing on the wall, the more astute will take note.
  9. You would have to show me where I suggested otherwise. Your response should have been directed to the statement I responded to. "Just two Thai banks out of many, i.e. a small minority, have gone down that route and none of the others have indicated that they would be following suit."
  10. TTB are shutting down the online banking service on 18th October 2023.
  11. You seem to be confused between informing others and supplier feedback.
  12. No it is not. To get any more than the standard 2 or so percent you have to prove UK tax residency, even with Wise.
  13. I didn't realise 800K baht was required for visa exemption in Thailand. Going by the comments on this thread, Thailand would be within it's rights to dispense with visa exemption.
  14. Don't you think people would like to know when things are working normally? I don't actually need the visa but got a bit concerned because of the negative comments.
  15. A right pain. I never used the app and it stopped working a couple of months ago when updated to a higher version of android. Changing banks seems futile as they may all go the same way, looks like a new phone and pencil sharpener for the fingers.
  16. Probably another shortly, TTB are shutting down the online banking from 18th October.
  17. The easiest way to copy from the screen Bill is the snipping tool. Go to the windows search bar and start to key in Snip, you will get a list come up. What you want is the Snipping Tool, rather than Snip & Sketch. A box will appear and go to Mode, you have some options on how to select. An image will appear and then use the options under File in the top left to do what you want to do with the image.
  18. I have seen several complaints about the service on e-visas from London embassy. I submitted my application about 5pm on Thursday and visa came through about 5pm yesterday(Saturday), just on 48 hours. Cannot ask for better service.
  19. You are wrong. "They" have not made people frantic, some people have made themselves frantic. The issue has been blown out of proportion.
  20. It is against the forum rules to distort the context and misquote other members.
  21. Think it has been that way with the airlines I have used. If you want to pick your seats before check in, normally a fee, but free after check in opens if you want to alter what has been allocated. Normally people on same booking would be seated together if booking made some time in advance.
  22. The date of departure cannot be more than the time allowed on entry from the date of arrival for the visa in question. eg tourist visa would be 60 days and Non O - 90 days. Going to immigration for an extension should be viewed as a departure.
  23. It does matter. Some airlines have area specific websites and if you try and book from Bangkok you will be redirected to the Thai website and will pay the Thai price in THB. During covid I bought 2 return tickets, one starting from Bangkok and one starting from London so I could use the free travel insurance to get back to Thailand. Extended the return legs free of charge and used them about a year later. I was redirected to the Thai site for one and the UK site for the other. Despite the high taxes at Heathrow the UK ticket was cheaper.
  24. That is not true. I once flew sat next to my wife, I was on return leg to UK and she was outbound from Bangkok, £200 difference in the tickets. Tickets need to be booked from country of departure and this was particularly important during covid when some tickets carried travel insurance. Tickets are based on USD and apart from anything else there will always be the exchange differential. I would advise against trying to circumvent the differential as if it became necessary to claim a refund there may well be problems.
