  1. Quite. When I had it I never went to hospital or saw a doctor. Just went to a local clinic and had my platlet count checked a couple of times during what was a very uncomfortable 10 days. My neice had it a few weeks before me and she was initially admitted for one night due to deyhdration, i had some idea what to expect.
  2. Exactly. Dengue lowers the platlet count so the last thing you need is to make the blood thinner. It was the same during the pandemic. It was found in a few rare cases of covid the platlets were sticking together and effectively lowering the platlet count. This was mistakenly being said to be blood clots and people were advocating blood thinners as a preventative measure.
  3. Aspirin is not a controlled substance in Thailand, you should refrain from posting misinformation. General policy is to prescribe 80mg tablets for hypertension so that is the most readily available. In the UK it is general policy to prescribe 75mg dispersible so almost impossible to get 80mg tablets. In the UK you can only buy one container at a time but that does not constitute a controlled substance. Aspirin is a blood thinner and the rumours from the recent pandemic may well have prompted pharmacies to reconsider their stock position in respect of the larger tablet sizes.
  4. Depending where you are you may get taxed if the land is not used constructively. The owner of the land next to us just got taxed 20k for last year and 20K for this year. It did have coconuts on it but the old guy got too old to look after it, the insects ate the trees and it became overgrown. A few weeks back the daughter got a JCB in to clear the land and she has planted some bananas to avoid this years tax. Mangoes and longan are probably easiest to grow, most others need looking after, and the same can be said for decorative plants. Other option would be to rent it out, a few around here rent out bits of land to the tapioca farmers.
  5. You have to be careful on what you are actually looking at. The number of entries selection is at the bottom of page one of the application. When the E-visa was first rolled out in the UK, "Multiple" could not be selected as it was greyed out, some time later the option became available. You would need to start an application to confirm availability.
  6. Regarding first point, you need to satisfy the requirements of the visa application which can vary with location. I did one at HCMC and no financials rquired but if done by e-visa proof of funds would be required, but the funds can be anywhere. Various rumours on second point but unlikely to have a problem with Non O. I did MEs for 6 years at Bang Laem and never set foot in Cambodia. Always paid the couple of hundred baht to get it done, passport back by the time I came out of duty free.
  7. Of course blame it on the way things are done, the spread couldn't be anything to do with human behaviour, such as using transport systems. The disease comes from humans, that particular species of mosquito only carries the virus from one human to another. The most effective measure against the spread would be containment. I got it from a bite in a Pattaya hotel. "Aedes aegypti dwell in tropical and subtropical regions all over the world, mainly between the latitudes of 35°N and 35°S where the winter temperature is no colder than 10°C. Although some mosquitoes may travel farther north or south of these latitudes, they are unable to survive cold winters. Because Aedes aegypti require a warm climate, they typically do not live at altitudes above 1000 m, where the temperature is colder. These mosquitoes are associated with the living spaces of humans. They generally spend their entire lives in and around the houses where their eggs hatched." https://www.nature.com/scitable/topicpage/dengue-transmission-22399758/
  8. I wouldn't bank on it. You have to get a bus across the bridge to the Lao checkpoint so it would depend on how sharp Lao immigration shut up shop. I crossed the other way in Jan, middle of the afternoon and very few people crossing, had to wait over 15 minutes for enough people to get the bus going, plus side was no queue at immigration. I would think the last bus is timed to get people through the other side by 10pm.
  9. Had many Non O MEs over the years and never been a problem. Did a border bounce to Padang Besar just as the pandemic was starting, only in Malaysia for 4 hours and all the IO asked was where was my wife. I came across the bridge at Nong Khai in Jan on a re-entry permit and was quizzed on the visa and again where was my wife. When I said over there waiting on me, he grunted and stamped the passport. Luck of the draw.
  10. Some years ago my UK private pension suddenly stopped. I rang them up and they said a LC had been sent out but was returned to sender. I asked if they would be sending out another and they said it wouldn't be necessary, they don't talk to the dead.
  11. OK, that wasn't very obvious. The OP was regarding UK state pension which I believe is done on a random basis. My UK private pension has only sent out one in 16 years and that was about 10 years ago.
  12. How do you know you will get a LC in about 6 weeks?
  13. In some respects but you still have the hassle of border crossings/visas every 3 months. I did it continuously for my first 6 years and filled up a new passport in less than 4 years. That has eased a bit these days with Laos doing evisa and Vietnam evisa/visa exempt. I had a few days in LP back in January, lovely place. Flew up to LP then high speed train to Vientiane and back across the bridge.
  14. Technically your suggestion is impossible, unless a fixed format such as a webpage was used. More chance of it working with something like Google voice than an email but I will be pushing up daisies long before the days of "Beam me up Scottie". When I did mine in April there was only 2 minutes between receipt and approval. That must have been an automated response, far too quick for human intervention. Just done it again this afternoon, a bit slower, about 15 minutes to get the receipt and then 2 hours for approval. In both cases it was 90 days after re-entry, April by land, today by air.
  15. Indeed, long gone. I used that song to create a video obituary to a good friend of mine for nearly 60 years when he recently died from cancer.
  16. Most likely scenario, emails are in the Gmail inbox and phone is trying to access the inbox which would require being signed in to Google. https://www.samsung.com/levant/support/apps-services/what-is-sign-in-with-google/
  17. Of couse they do. if you click on the wi-fi icon in bottom corner, along the bottom you should see Wi-Fi, Airplane Mode & Mobile Hotspot. I have a 12 year old HP laptop that sometimes boots up into Airplane Mode, bit of a pain.
  18. I don't think it is of any concern. I had been on marriage extensions for a few years when the UK embassy stopped the income letter. I didn't have enough transfers for an extension so just went to HCMC for ME non O, not a problem. Sod's law, 7 months later I was back on 12 month extension as I couldn't leave the country due to covid.
  19. No, you thought you would try and be a smartxxxx.
  20. Why learn something I don't need to know, and why would you need to know something of so little concern.
  21. Quite. A friend of mine was told a few months back it would be over 2 years and he decided to pay the 12k to have it done. Another friend has had both done in the last couple of years and only waited months. He had both done on NHS but carried out in a private hospital, it's a real shxxshow.
  22. Like many other things in this life, you have to do the homework, pay your money and take the chance. I am on the outskirts of Chonburi, built in 2009 for 900K, probably spent about 300K on upkeep over the years, doesn't owe me anything.
  23. What version of android are you using? Since version 11, possibly 10, android has denied access to system and data files so your file manager will not see them. The other thing is possibly your file manager. In the past I have had problems with the file manage that came with the device and had to install a better one to do what I wanted. I used FX File Explorer but many available free on Playstore. I recently had to buy a new TV box and that came with android 11 and I had a problem the other way round I couldn't get at the data files to overwrite them. A bit of googling brought up a variety of suggestions for workarounds, all based on using a more sophisticated file manager that had to be paid for. I didn't bother following it through, just laboriously set up the new installation manually.
  24. Having a passport number on the TM30 doesn't make it from the passport holder or mean the TM30 and TM47 are linked in the database. The TM30 in my passport was done long before any 90 day online system. If you want to believe they dug out all old TM30s and fed them into the system that is up to you, but it wouldn't make it true. Ref your link, yes indeed. I suggested in another post why the online system wouldn't work with a new passport obtained in Thailand.
  25. Your wording sounds like you are talking about doing the 90 days in person and what you say may well be true at some offices. As far as the online system is concerned I would be surprised if it cross checks the passport numbers against TM30s. It is not out of the question but a questionable exercise in database linking and TM30s are not actually from the passport holder. The TM 30 in my passport is from 2015 and had many different visas and trips abroad since then. When I have done a 90 day in person they have just glanced through the passport noting what is stapled inside.
