Just got an SMS mesage that my March SS payment has been deposited. I use Bangkok Bank with direct deposit from the NY Branch by ACH. Deposit seems about 1000 short. The SMS message says Prompt Pay transfer to your account via IBANKING. Never received this type of message before has always said Deposit/transfer to your account via AUTO. Anyone else experience this? I will be going to the bank tomorrow to see if they can explain the difference. And hopefully it still says FTT, as I use the monthly method for Immigration.
If the spouse has low income it would be advantageous to file jointly because you would get 65,000 deduction for her and if she has Thai health insurance and or life insurance you can deduct up to 100,000 baht on your return, my wife has no assessable income so I can add her onto my taxes and this year I can bring in an extra 140,000 baht tax free.
look at the tax tables, first 150,000 is tax free, single or married, I just filed last week with the spouse and didn't need the extra 150,000 as she had no income. Wanted to file single but they insisited on filing joint,
She would be better off filing on her own, would owe zero taxes. If filing joint have to add the incomes together and only get one 150,000 tax free benefit
I knew before going that with my deductions and exemptions I would owe nothing, and that is what it ended up as I owed nothing. You will also owe nothing. Relax and enjoy your life.
Going to guess that these would not be going out to US citizens as they would have been filed out when opening there accounts, at least I had to in the past.
Would say my circumstances here would be quite normal, remit one pension that is assessable and subject to filing taxes and one pension that is not assessable so need to claim, 77 years old.
like I told you earlier just go to the tax office and let them do it, very fast process you will be in and out quickly, they will print out a copy for you and mine even gave me a reference number to use next year
Just get a one year statement for 2024 from Bangkok, it will show all of your deposits for the year that were transferred in from the UK, add them up and just give them that number
just take your wife with you to the tax office, they will do all the paperwork for you online. No charge for this and with the amount of income you have you will owe nothing, and if you bring a tax statement from the bank that amount would be refunded to you
