Businesses on Khao San Road struggle to serve customers
BritManToo replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
They still need to heat their homes and the air fares are very expensive. I can't see any saving to be made by a western foreigner coming here for two weeks unless they were homeless in the west.- 44 replies

Can she live in Thailand legally ?
BritManToo replied to Delight's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
There are no financial requirements for the foreign wife of a Thai national to get Visa extensions. There is a financial requirement of 15kbht/month joint income for her to get Thai citizenship. -
Photos of your Grow in Thailand
BritManToo replied to Mr Meeseeks's topic in Thailand Cannabis Forum
It's my woman growing too. I merely consume the product for medicinal reasons. I did suggest she sells western hybrid clones in the local market, as there is no license required to sell MJ plants that are not in flower. -
Can she live in Thailand legally ?
BritManToo replied to Delight's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
She should have applied for Thai citizenship as soon as she gave birth to the first child. Too late now the guy has cleared off, but would have been very easy at the time. Only requirement is a joint income of 15kbht/month. -
Taliban suspend university education for women in Afghanistan

Me neither! But I support a woman's right to get one. -
Same happened to me in Cambodia after using Booking.com. Complained and got 3kbht discount towards my hotel. Just a bit inconvenient.

You're what's known statistically as an outlier. Most guys are dead by 70 in Thailand.

Trumps kids all married Jews so he can't be an anti-Semite. As far as I can see all the Presidential candidates are OK with Jews, so Bidens speech is irrelevant. Not sure where Biden is going on this one (assuming he knows where he is when he started). As for Hannukkah, it's about lighting your house with candles and giving gifts to each other. Not sure where the 'eating oily food' came from, that's news to me.

Malaria SBET and other travel kit meds available in Thailand
BritManToo replied to wn78's topic in Health and Medicine
If I may add, Side effects for anti-Malaria tablets can result in serious mental problems. One of my work pals went completely bonkers from anti-malarial tablets, had to be locked up for a couple of weeks, while locked up stopped taking the meds, then caught malaria while in the mental institution. You also need to start taking the meds 2 weeks before travelling, so absolutely no use as a backup to keep in your bag. -

Best for foreigners not to break Thai laws IMHO. -
Death usually occurs in the ambulance ride from your home to the hospital. Thai ambulances and their paramedics aren't all that good or fast. Which is why most people in Thailand die before age 70. Then when you get to the Thai hospital the doctors aren't all that good. I've encountered 3 serious misdiagnoses in the past 10 years. Gall bladder needs removal (it didn't) Appendix needs removal (it didn't) You have BPH and will need prostate surgery (I didn't)

Most installs would involve at least 3 different companies and I would expect all the devices to work together from the start. 1. Inverter maufacturer 2. Panel manufacturer. 3. Battery manufacturer 4. BMS manufacturer. My last solar install involved PV manufacturers x3, inverter x1, battery manufacturers x2, BMS x1. So that's 7 different manufacturers in total.

British woman breaks nearly every bone in face in Thailand
BritManToo replied to webfact's topic in Koh Samui News
Thai minimum insurance has medical cover of 40kbht for anyone riding them (legally or illegally). If the bike has a valid tax disk, it will have the insurance. -
The 10GBP postage was the decider for me, everyone else wanted more.

1st. You've just admitted you needed to go through a 'bug fixing stage' with your Growatts (that wouldn't have made me happy). 2nd. You needed an installer because you had no previous knowledge of solar systems (if I remember correctly). 3rd. Was it another poster that had all the battery problems? (EDIT: my bad that was ThaiFish) 4th. I have a Degree in Electrical and Electronic engineering, built my own batteries, installed my own system, welded my own panel mounts and it worked correctly from day 1. Finally, there is absolutely no valid reason why the batteries and inverter need to communicate (apart from greed by the inverter manufacturer). The BMS is all that is needed to manage the batteries (I have 2x 48V batteries working in parallel). I will also leave it to the forum readers on whose opinion they want to listen.

I think you should accept death when it comes. No health insurance for me (age 66).
-
That's very optimistic of you!
-
I'm betting your dad didn't live in Thailand. In Thailand your 1st medical emergency will probably be your last no matter how good your insurance.

No retirement in Vietnam, you have to either work, or marry a local. Cambodia and Philippines much easier to retire in.

2022: A roller-coaster ride for Thailand’s cannabis industry
BritManToo replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News Headlines
Cannabis has been freely available in Vietnam and Cambodia forever. $10 a bag (although they always initially asked foreigners for $20). -
You're missing something. My last order with them arrived last week, ordered on 6th, delivered on 14th.

Yes it does, but a pack of 5 regular for 6 GBP vs 1 feminised for 28GBP wasn't a hard choice. 5 Bahia, 4 Choice and 3 Escape germinated successfully along with the free feminised Blue Dream. Germinated on 18th Re-potted on 19th
