My local government hospital (MaeJo/SanSai) sees everyone that turns up ........ never heard of 'limited slots'. Same as my previous local government hospital NaKornPing.

What it costs to live in Thailand, on a budget ?
BritManToo replied to Social Media's topic in Pattaya
Just not true, they went out for a beer every evening, sat in coffee shops, the occasional freelancer. I don't understand what so many foreigners spend all the money on. The condo's at the end of my road rent for 2,500bht/month and they're really nice. If I were a single OAP on a limited pension, I'd much rather live in one of those than a UK housing estate. Most of the world is 'just surviving' as far as I can see.- 242 replies

How bad can 15 minutes get for a week's wages? Try being a rice farmer for a week! -

If the alternative is a freezing bedsit in Bolton surrounded by Muslim refugees .................... Anyway, I had several pals living in CM on 20kbht/month and doing quite well. Without the 'hangers on' I could easily live on that.- 242 replies

Safety for solo travellers in the Philippines

Can't say I eat Thai food either. -
I've always made my own rules for everything! And as far as I'm concerned, a man who doesn't take what he's owed isn't a man.

I paid 20% of my income to buy my state pension and NHS entitlement. As far as I'm concerned I'm entitled to any pension payments other pensioners get, no matter where I live. Maybe you should spend more time worrying about Tony Blair's sudden millions and David Cameron's offshore accounts, these guys are crooks, I'm just claiming what I paid for..

I paid more taxes than most of them.

Safety for solo travellers in the Philippines

Potential dangers, More worried about the danger of dying on Thai islands than being mugged in PI. Beggers, The occasional kid or granny outside 7-11 or walking in the road. Generally much less begging than from the Rose ladies walking in Thai bars or tuk-tuk drivers in Thailand. Food, Every meal was great, although I mostly ate at Mexican, German or Oz/Brit restaurants. Did have Pork Adobo at a local street restaurant, which was perfectly acceptable. Alcoholic drinks, A fraction of Thai prices. Beaches, Much nicer than any Thai beaches I've ever visited. About 8 trips in the pre-COVID 4 years. Zero problems with anyone. Here's the Pork Adobo, Essentially pork and potato stew served with rice. -

Been there lots of times, walked through the Barrios after midnight in Manilla, never a problem of any kind. Everyone very polite, they actually seem to like foreigners (unlike Thais). Saying that as a large white male. -
Why would you tell any government agency where you were or what you were doing? You got yourself no 250 pound winter fuel allowance, no 10% pension rise and no NHS treatment, pointless!

I use the last UK address I lived at, I don't know the people that currently live there and nobody ever checked.

4bht/gm doesn't seem expensive to me. My kids get 50bht per school day, they can easily afford cannabis. As for hospital admissions, I'd be more interested in the actual numbers of people admitted with serious problems, doubt there's be 10.
