Destination Thailand Visa Gains Popularity Among Expats
atpeace replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Planning on trying this visa out this year. Plan on travelling outside the country often and think it might be a good option. Buying a new car soon and worry about a residency permit which is needed to put the car in your name. Could always put it in the wife's name but that creates other issues when I cross boarders. Anyone out there that got a residency permit on a tourist visa/DTV? -
Destination Thailand Visa Gains Popularity Among Expats
atpeace replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It helps to live near a user friendly office. In Ubon it would be the same. Easy for retirement or Marriage. It can be a nightmare in some offices but even those bad offices are improving the last 5 years. Expats here have it easy IMO. -
I just crossed over into Laos a couple days ago to use my re-entry stamp. Was thinking this would be all need to do before heading to Vientiane but it just hit me. I'll still have my Non-O when crossing into Laos next week without a re-entry. Will the Thai Embassy tell me I have a visa and I'm not eligible for a new visa. I forget when they invalidate the visa. Upon leaving or at re-entry.

Thanks! Have a questions and maybe you can help. If not no worries. I just crossed over into Laos a couple days ago to use my re-entry stamp. Kegel exercises have many benefits and can be done easily. Almost half way though a 45 second session as I type this and that is all takes. I think, emphasize think, that many don't respond at all from the exercises but I definitely did and I think it was immediate. I run quite a bit here in the heat and this causes my poop to become dry. Don't like dry hard poop so gave kegel exercises a try to help with the elimination said poop. The exercises helped a little with the constipation but was surprised the first night upon waking up to pee. Had an uncontrollable boner that wouldn't calm down. Awkward to pee and this happened again later on ( I piss twice a night). My libido, I thought was really healthy, also increased. 5 Years later and if I do Kegel before sleeping, same results.

OK, I'll give this visa a try. I'm flying to America November 1st so have to hurry. Next week is the plan if I can get an appointment in Vientiane. I have a savings account in America with 100K in it and also Bangkok Bank with about 700 k. Currently been an O visa for ten years but plan on traveling quite often the next few years and this visa would be ideal. If it isn't, I can always go back to the non-O. Here is what I'm bringing: 1) I can print out the event registrations and payment receipts. Probably have 4 events over the next 6 months. Also can show a history of attending sporting events in Thailand if it would help. 2) Print out Bangkok Bank statements -3 months. Could also provide statements for another savings account in America with over $100k dollars in it. I rarely have transactions in these accounts and should be easy for the immigration officer to verify funds. 3) Fill out DTV application with passport scan. Passport pics? Am I missing anything? Just got back from Laos yesterday and dreading another Laos trip. Assume Vientiane will be easier than Chon Mek. Definately not taking a vehicle which was the main issue with Chon Mek.

Petrol Station Scam in Bang Rakam Caught on Video, Goes Viral

Happened to me there 14 years ago and almost ended in blows but the manger stepped in. she was in on it also but after explaining we will have to call the cops and you will have to explain to them how I am being charged 175 baht for 1/4 of a tank on my scooter that doesn't even hold 175 baht. She returned my money in total so I got 40 baht of gas free 🙂 -
You have told me twice on this same page of thread that I shouldn't reply to posts I don't like. Which is weird. It seems most replies on this thread are about posts they don't like. You would definitely feel better if I joined the herd but I like to have an opinion. Below are your posts on this same page. Short memory? "So just ignore the OP - easy..." "I just said ignore an OP if you dislike the content" So you are only person allowed to disagree and everybody else should be quiet? You made a post to stir things up with your OP. I just told you it was infantile and now you are butt hurt.

OK, how about 45 years? Wow, that first paragraph above was weird 🙂 I know you were just having fun so all is good 🙂 Can't argue with your rationality for taking benefits early but we are different. I don't need the money at 63(when I can take early benefits). Your numbers above are off substantially but no big deal. I would be getting around $1,400 at 63 and I think around $2,200 in todays dollars at 70. Average age of death is 85 if you reach 65. It is much better to wait if you can so you receive more money in total and also it is a great insurance if you get into your 90s. Sucks to be old and broke.

The benefits of living alone as an older man
atpeace replied to simon43's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I don't talk much to the locals because my Thai isn't good and there English is worse. They are pleasant enough and haven't had any issues with them. As for Expats, they are fine to talk t but as I mentioned, there aren't any 🙂 Life is perfect but I'm fine with the imperfections and choose to live a life without expats or real friends. Been 4 years and arguably my best years so no plans on moving. My woman has other homes where tourists reside and we go there once or twice a year for a month and that's is fun. Also travel more than most for events or whatever. -

That is me with the exception of getting out. I'm OK with my situation. I really don't have a choice other than moving to a place with other expats. You need to be able find hobbies(even one can suffice ) that are satisfying and having an incredible partner is the most important. I just came back from Laos and bumped into an Expat eating lunch in a crappy Lao restaurant. 3 empty beer bottles on the table and just got the impression he was just wasting away. He wasn't a bad bloke but felt sorry for him. I don't know but simply being aware enough so you can realize you are unhappy alone and trying something else would be the answer. Most lonely downers don't even have a clue there are options. -
Been hearing that for 50 years now. Your the guy that thinks wife's don't get social security benefits if they haven't worked. Been posting this nonsense repeatedly on this thread. Hard to take you serious. So many fixes and most probably wouldn't impact my benefit much. Simply trimming benefits for high earners or increasing the SS tax cap on high earners for example would probably extend the program out another 25 years. Literally millions of fixes that in the end won't be too painful. I can't wait for you to call me a foo which seems to be a habit of yours.

Wow. You have no idea how social security works and you are collecting from the system. Simply amazing and not only that you are insulting others in previous posts that do understand the system. His wife does not and let me emphasize "does not" HAVE TO PAY INTO THE SYSTEM FOR 40 QUARTERS. He has to pay into the system for 40 quarters and his wife will receive up to 50 percent of his benefit. There are restrictions but in most cases she will receive around 50%.

Nope, where did yo get that info. Millions of stay at home Mom's are collecting social security and never have worked a day of there life while their husband is still living. My Mom would be one of those and my Dad is still alive. Google is your friend - try it out. Here I'll help and don't worry about apologizing for being a foolish know it all. https://www.kiplinger.com/article/retirement/t051-c032-s014-stay-at-home-parents-can-still-qualify-for-social.html#:~:text=social security-,Social Security for Stay-at-Home Moms (and Dads, just like any other worker.

I'm an idiot. I find the above post hilarious and the last sentence as a rub on an earlier poster was good.
