Refused pseudoephedrine at hospital
The hospital recommended a clinic in town but I assumed they were just trying to get rid of me. Closed now but open tomorrow and usually packed. Probably have to wait 2 hours with a lot of sick people but there is HOPE!

Refused pseudoephedrine at hospital
OK, think I'll give this a try. The hospital told me they don't have pseudoephedrine . Just a few years ago I got it every hospital after the pharmacy ban in 2012. My sinus infections are nasty and I'll do almost anything. Where do you acquire xylitol and I assume you aren't using the 2 cups detailed in your directions above all at once. One syringe? I wonder if prolific nasal salt cleansing might help without the xylitol.

Refused pseudoephedrine at hospital
Thanks but I've tried so may other alternatives and I just want what I know works. Maybe I'll go to the hospital now and see if they will give me some pseudoephedrine. If they do I will be 100% by tomorrow morning.

Mall shooting unlikely to impact Thai tourism, but other factors could rain on the parade
I have no idea how some posters don't understand this and I would bet the average Chinese here spends much more than the average Ex-pat. There shear numbers does create many frustrating situations for us ex-pats but doesn't alter the fact that their impact on the Thai economy is far greater than retirees. I moved because of them years ago but this doesn't make them bad people or cheap.

Refused pseudoephedrine at hospital
I have always had to beg for more than 10 tablets but never been refused before at a hospital. Usually after a few minutes of begging I get 50 pills which will last 1 year. When my sinuses act up, I need the pills ASAP and I'm fine in 24 hours. Nothing else works for me and other pills they have tried to tell me work do absolutely nothing. Has anyone else been refused lately? Hoping I can go to a different hospital.

WISE instant virtual free VISA debit cards.
Only a handful of countries are eligible. Great option for Brits but most others won't be eligible. Americans could opt for the physical card but it has to activated within the USA.

Potassium too high, any tips?
Glad it has worked out well for you. I listen to doctors and do my own research which has worked for me. We are both still here so hard to tell who has the best plan. Cheers

Expats seeking a new life face challenges with stricter banking and taxation rules being pushed
You can pay bill with Wise? Atm's are considered international transfers? Not trying to be difficult here but I don't see these as clear cut solutions. I think the ATM should work and plan on using mine. I get reimbursed for any fees charged at Thailand ATMs which make the process even easier. In the end I doubt this new reg will impact retirees but worth preparing for if easy.

Potassium too high, any tips?
He is probably right but I would do my own research and question him if needed. It seems like you have some health issues that sodium exacerbates. I have received conflicting advice from many physicians over the last 30 years. As for "ME" loads of extra sodium is a necessity if I want to be in top form. If I exercised little or exercised in cool weather I wouldn't need nearly as much. My advice is to learn how sodium interacts with electrolytes and learn how to read your blood numbers. A CBC blood test costs 300 baht here and lots of easy to understand numbers that paint a picture of your general health.

Being a loner in retirement
Having the sense to realize the woman will make you happier than chasing new highs is difficult here. Too many great women have slipped by while I was chasing something fresh. How I manage to realize the woman I've been with for 3 years was special is beyond me but stupid me figured it out within a week and I became the best man I could be in her eyes. Two loners that have had quite an adventure.

There are many workarounds but fail to see how Wise is one of them. I'm sure I' missing something.

Potassium too high, any tips?
I always take sodium with my bananas. Sodium gets a bad rap and really depends on the individual. I would guess I'm adding 3-7 tsp a day to my water. Less cramping and also feel much better doing cardio exercises.

Money can't buy you Love (unless you're in Thailand).
Lots of truth in the above but isn't Bob being somewhat sarcastic? Maybe not... I'm in an incredible relationship now that for the first six months had nothing to do with money. Covid changed this but now, three years later, her income sources have recovered for the most part and we both do what we want with our money. If things change in the future, I'll gladly jump in to help her financially. Women are naturally inclined ( not guaranteed ) to seek men that are financially stable. It is in their DNA and I doubt evolution will change that anytime soon.

Hard time reading most your posts but think you nailed this one. He seems to be unable to let go of past traumatic experiences and will probably always be a little angry at women. At least he is extremely witty and brutally honest.

There are those rare exceptions that non-newbies might miss. Happened twice to me but l'm into athletic women which puts me at slight disadvantage.

Bangkok Pollution: one for the BKK long timers
50 isn't too good but I have no idea of the long term consequences. A decent purifier will probably drop your numbers into the single digits. When it gets bad outside it is nice to be in room that has clean air and cold AC. Other than after rain storms when running doesn't cause degusting smog phlegm, I even run on the treadmill in my place. When I was wealthier, I would just go to another country but my poorer self usually stays in Thailand and stays inside for much of the day until enough of the smog clears.

Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part I
Thanks and I was wondering about this and enjoyed your easy to understand explanation. In either case it wouldn't be assessable unless you kept all your receipts and volunteered the information. As far as I know, there is no means for the Thailand to track the transaction. Merchants get a name, last 4 digits on card and really nothing they can do with that information. Am I wrong?

I just looked and they don't have a card for Thailand. I wonder if I used my USA address...

Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part I
Thanks! I only put my money where I can at least convince my self I understand the investment. In this case, I don't have to invest so why not. I think a Wise debit card would also work. My debit cards in the USA are attached to accounts with substantial balances so i have a few reservations about using them on Lazada. With Wise or possibly a Crypto debit card I could drop a couple grand into the account and not worry. Thanks

Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part I
The only way I see this working and even then it would be a mess, is if they require certified tax returns from an embassy. A tax return can be submitted online in minutes that has nothing to do with reality but I guess the certification might stop a few,. The USA embassy would probably endorse it as long long as you promised it was accurate. Like they did with the 65k income letter. The Thai government has no means of determining the source of income which they need to assess it. This is insane but kinda funny.

Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part I
I guess all this is worth some thought but on other hand it completely futile, Some seem to feel they know a lot and myself may have come off as knowing too much. In the end, nobody on this thread really has a grasp o of what will be taxed and how it will be taxed. The taxing of foreign remittances seems flawed on so many levels that in a sane world it would never come to fruition. Preparing for anything is pointless because we don't know what to prepare.

Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part I
Ok, purchase most things now with my debit card on Lazada, Big C hotels, etc. Switch to my USA debit card and that eliminates 80% of transfers? Send any other money to my GF and spend that. So many loop wholes that I fail to think this will ever come to fruition. Stranger things have happened to me but have my serious doubts this will amount to anything. I just thought of another easy workaround while typing but don't feel like sharing ???? I would be furious if Lazada shared that I purchased my g-string underpants with a foreign credit card to the the tax man.

Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part I
How would Thailand differentiate if transfers are from past or current earnings. Also, how would Thailand have any idea of what I earned in dividends? They can't access my USA tax records.
