  1. Hmmm, so if immigration denies your extension for whatever reason( 800k seasoning, etc), the simple fix is leave the country for a day and reenter on a tourist visa. As long as you have 800k available it seems impossible to not return to Thailand after a short border cross and meet the needs for a Non-0. As long as you're willing to lose the ongoing consecutive visa extensions which might become an issue in the future, then there seems to always be a solution if you have the 800k.
  2. OK - thanks, time to make an immigration visit. It seems at bare minimum the 800k should be reduced to 400k because I'm not applying for a an extension based on bank balance. From reading other posts it does seem you're correct but my immigration seemed pretty lenient. Bank balance requirements weren't enforced other than needing 800k two months prior. At worse I get directions for next year's switch.
  3. Thank- I forgot about the 12 month consecutive transfers. I guess you could transfer the money back to your home country and start the income method first month of your new method. Probably lose 1-2 baht on fees and exchange rate costs but make it up on interest earned in my home country's bank. Not big money but I have too much time to waste on a ~10,000 baht annual saving.
  4. I'm in the same situation and plan on finally doing something this year. My plan is to run down the 1,000,000 I have now down to 400k and then start depositing 65k a month. Theoretically this should work and will run by immigration. If I run into difficulties, I'll move into one my GF condos in Pattaya and go the agent route. Currently in Ubon area and immigration seems to be very helpful so don't anticipate problems. My main issue is that running down the 1,000,000 to 400,000 might take 10 months because I now spend so little living Ubon. GF has her own money and home so I live very well off 50,000 a month here where my enjoyment revolves around activities the don't involve much money. Wonder if immigration might frown on switching to income at the tail end of a visa. So many get out jail options when it come to Thai retirement visas.
  5. That's a tiny goat I personally like the mature ones.
  6. Age and weight? The woman I'm with was 43 kilos/166 cm when we met. She was beautiful in a bikini but think she looks better at 46-49 kg. Hard to imagine her under 40kg.
  7. Nope but I will grant you weed is better than alcohol.
  8. Didn't find them aesthetically pleasing at the time but would love to own this ride. Awesome! Totally Awesome!
  9. Think he stated the opposite of what you're implying? He is concerned as he stated and other posters are as well. As for me, I'm concerned but not losing any sleep over it. I realize my weed smoking creates a certain bias but interested in solutions. The kids I knew in the area last year were hanging out quite often in groups smoking daily. They weren't drinking or taking yaba that I knew of prior to weed legalization. I always believed drug legalization would reduce the carnage illegal drugs cause in society. Now I'm thinking that isn't a solution.
  10. I just didn't like that process. Felt dirty and with a good share of bad luck could end poorly for a tourist. I chose to liquor it up and that was more detrimental to my health. Maybe 1 bowl and 2 shots every evening so I can go with the flow and new regs won't matter as much.
  11. The cheap cannabis has been nice but the rampant teenage usage is probably not beneficial to their mental growth. The kids seem to be able to get good weed for 50-200 baht a gram which makes it almost free. It is new and as time passes it does seem teenagers aren't seeking it out as much in my area but might be wrong.
  12. No idea but I do know Gatorade doesn't have enough salt to meet my needs. Forget the quanity but remember it being about 1/4 tsp per liter. Sponsor isn't too healthy IMO. Too much sugar. If sugar isn't a concern then it doesn't matter. There are salt pills also that are sold on Lozada that many marathon runners use.
  13. Iodized salt (basic table salt) which you buy at 7-Eleven. You can go with sea salt if your feeling goofy but it is just more expensive and does the same thing. The "kiss" principle is the best solution. Table salt is everywhere and throw in a little banana if easy to find. I get blood work done regularly and know what most the numbers imply. Not hard and recommended. Many issues health issues can be found in the blood numbers.
  14. Thanks and she is clueless on a motorbike. She is a city girl and had no need to learn. I'll let her know about the braking technicals.
  15. Going to buy a click with the GF the next few days. She has her own money and I'm just trying to help her out. She only goes short distances and is has only been riding motorbikes for a couple years She is far from a fluid rider and safety is my main concern. She is 59 yo so isn't interested in a flashy scooter. I'm a little younger and have the Aerox ???? I think the 125i is perfect for her 3 kilometer market trip and the rare 20 kilometer trips to friends homes. Figure she can pick one up in Ubon for around 54k. Should she get the combo brake model?
  16. The thumping funeral music has been irritable the last few weeks. Many are meeting the reaper in my area but the last 2 were motorcycle accidents and i bet they were helmetless but fully masked. Wish they would be more considerate and die when I'm not around.
  17. Playing golf in hot weather would and should lower sodium levels for most individuals. Some people lose little and others like me (5'11"-72 kg) lose a substantial amount. If it were me, I would add a 1/2 teaspoon to every liter of water while golfing. Blood tests are cheap in Thailand(250 baht). Get your blood tested 3 or 4 hour after exercising and see if the added salt is creating issues ( high blood pressure, elevated sodium levels...). It is fun to take control of your own health. At worse you might kill yourself in the process but it is empowering. In most cases IMO a person should be able make educated health choices without a doctor. Not always but most the time.
  18. I drink between 5-7 liters fluids a day. Roughly 50% plain water and the other with about a teaspoon of salt per liter in the liters I drink prior to exercising and after. A couple big bites of a banana every liter that includes salt is also helpful. The banana (potassium) and salt(sodium) cover the electrolytes needed for exercise in hot/humid areas. The other electrolytes are not as important IMO. Very hard to drink too much water for the average person but for those working hard in the heat or exercising hard for more than 75 minutes it is quite easy. Rarely deadly but it can mess you up especially if it creeps up on you over a a few days. Lethargic and feeling tired all the time are my first symptoms. Color of my urine is meaningless for me. It can be clear and I'm in balance and be clear and I'm out of balance. Actually trying to have clear urine while living in Thailand caused me to be completely out of balance. Drink loads of water if needed but get the electrolyte contents right for "your" needs.
  19. I get doctors are essential but the same time they can be a waste a time and at worse detrimental to your health. I've broken many bones and damaged organs over the years in sporting accidents and the doctors were great. With my numerous soft tissue, lower back, and tendon issues they have been for the most part worthless and a couple of them were supposedly at the top of their area of expertise. Doctors are just guessing in many situations and really don't have a vested interest in improving your health. Go to 3 specialist and get sometimes 3 contradicting remedies. The best option is taking control of your health by educating yourself and learning how to be aware of "your" health challenges. You should know your body better than any doctor and be in a position to fix issues that arise. Not all but most. Just my opinion and probably put you to sleep.
  20. All of us pick and choose and our ethics evolve to the circumstances. Morality is 3 spoons perspective and 1 reality.
  21. Much better! Telling me to talk to dead nurses is an attack but this reply is a civil response and appreciated. I'm sure the other poster is ready to pounce that i replied to earlier. Also your common sense you referred to is not universal. Not criticizing and sure you are aware at your age of human intellect. We grow wiser and adaptable as we age if we let ourselves relate to other opinions. BTW, I agree with most of the above with slight nuances.
  22. A "follow the science crowd" typical response that ignores reality and science. A bot response would be much more original. The rallying cry has been made and the torrents of thoughtless hateful responses will commence.
  23. Exactly the type of rabid response I was talking about. Sorry, I have to follow my own path and learn along the way. I went from a almost complete vaccination believer to I'm not quite 100% sure vaccination was the best solution. Can I express this opinion without you attacking me and telling me to somehow talk to dead nurses? Chill out and let it go and hope you have got your daily dose of aggro out of your system. I got vaccinated for people like you and sorry you can't cope with this. If you really think Covid was a personal major concern for healthy individuals, I will never convince your type otherwise. The anger in the vaccination crowd is appalling as your post epitomizes. Why not look at both sides in stead hammering out a rally cry for the vaccination enthusiasts. IMO vaccination worked to what extent is debatable but I have a feeling you can tell me.
  24. Many things but the one that convinced me to get vaccinated was I couldn't race in Thailand. All races required vaccination. I run and I'm in stellar health. Covid wasn't and isn't a worry nor should it be IMO for healthy unvaccinated individuals. The problem is the global society is extremely unhealthy and needs drugs to remedy the situation. A terrible solution and throw in politics/group think and you get the rabid covid vaccination crowd. A jab for me was my solution to keep the fearful unhealthy masses at bay and I think it also helped minimize the severity of the spread within the unhealthy. I might have saved a person that let themselves become pathetically unhealthy ???? Give me a medal. Didn't you face restrictions?
  25. You must have few friends. I only got vaccinated the second time because I had too. Vaccination(s) was required to do the things in Thailand I want to do at the time. I got covid anyhow and it wasn't any fun but it passed like other terrible viruses I've had. I was training hard so I'm guessing my immune system was deficient. Sorry but I call BS on your "fun fact" but nice to know you experienced the covid era on your terms.
