"Did it also say that all of the murders, assaults, rapes etc were completed attended to..."

Which murders, assaults, rapes, etc., that were happening at the same time?

"...arresting 3 old men who if they were endangering anyone, they were endangering themselves".

No, it's not just that.  The point is that they were also endangering anyone that they and the Thai owner had contact with afterwards, and anyone else that they subsequently had contact with, ad infinitum.   Don't you understand how infections spread?

You are talking as if they are known Covid carriers!

Exempt no but common sence should prevail in these uncertain times .a quick reminder and a stern warning and sent home would of suffice plus that would go a long way with police and people bonding.now it's all over the news and social media .not sent out the right vibes for future tourism has it

Correct! If Samui is to open for tourism on 1st July, the propoganda machine is going to be very busy! e.g.  "Come to Koh Samui for the experience of a lifetime!"

Well, if this "experience of a lifetime includes basic accommodation, (shabby, but functional?)  food, (fish head soup?) and have to pay an extortionate price for it before they let you out of the "hotel" for having an alcoholic drink or two, they might be struggling to get the "millions of visitors" that TAT have promised!!!

3 Those with underlying health conditions

    4 Those aged 60+

5 People in risky jobs such as teacher, public transport drivers and advisors travelling abroad

6 Embassy staff members and their families

7 Thais in the universal healthcare scheme

8 Foreign nationals and migrant workers

So, if you are a foreigner with underlying health conditions, which is it, no. 3 or no. 8 ?

Or if you are a foreigner with underlying health problems and 60+ years of age, you can further complicate it by putting no 4  into the mix.

And I read somewhere that high blood pressure, and/or high cholesterol constitute underlying health problems - probably quite a high proportion of the over 60's fall into that category! (The first source I looked at says " 70% to 79% of men ages 55 and older are now classified as having hypertension" (American source)

No - go back and have a read - was 12,000 - but you have to wonder where they asked?

Like - was it 2am at the entrance of walking street and only asking males over 60 accompanied by 2 teen females?

NO, go back and have a read yourself! - the 12,000 you speak about was not just from Thailand:-

"The survey, which was carried out between 7 to 31 January 2021, had a total of 12,420 expats participating from 174 nationalities and living in 186 countries or territories."

Bet your bottom Bhat on that !  I can't picture the masses in this country standing 2 meters apart while waiting in lines

This social distancing is fine in theory, but in practice it's a joke. How often do you see a queue of people waiting for a bus, in some instances, trying to stay apart, and once inside, are like sardines in a can! And queues at Government offices can be just as bad!

Another side to it is I went to Tesco Lotus with my wife last week, and decided to have a bite to eat in the cafe area. We've slept in the same bed all night, travelled there on my motorbike with her on the back, yet we have to eat with a screen/divider between us designed so we can't even SEE each other?

What an idiot! He obviously is not of English decent & a descendant of immigrants from the yesteryear's commonwealth. I'm really tired of these so called "British people" that reside here giving the peace loving majority of expats a bad impression of us & our behaviour. I just hope they deport him back to wherever he's from, plus deal with any other expats misbehaving in the same manner. We are guests in this country & we should all accept that, be thankful for the hospitality extended to us here & enjoy it! ........... fact.

    English decent"?

Do you mean "a decent English" as opposed to "an INdecent English"?

Actually your ' friend ' is right but paranoia is also another side effect.

The ' wotsits ' and ' chocolate '  cravings according to ' my friend ' is commonly referred to it by users as ' The munchies '

And funnily enough, according to "MY friend", if you indulge in too much, you can suffer from what is known as a "whitey", a bit like being "as drunk as a skunk" but mored docile and less smelly!

  8. "British man arrested in Chiang Mai ............"

Why not "Foreigner arrested in Chiang Mai..........."?

and  "Police in Chiang Mai have arrested a British after he allegedly threatened a monk with a machete."

A "British?" It's like saying "a French" or a "Spanish" - the journalist should have stuck to "foreigner" - it's easier, but no - tar and feather the "BRIT" as is often the case on here.

Whatever it is that he said, it'll be controversial, and probably reversed  so that tomorrow or the day after he can get back in the spotlight  and make another speech.

Does he not realise how he makes himself look with these statements, and continual U turns? (No need for an answer on that one!)
