  1. Not really! They can be "told" straight out, which could cause a forore of complaints, or they could be ''advised" if they don't do as requested there "may be" consequences!
  2. They'll just adjust their stats accordingly - or maybe not - it would reduce their "tourist" figures!
  3. But would you beat him to death with an iron bar because you were "angry"?
  4. Yay! The Brits are back in the news!
  5. I disagree with your assumption that all Government hospitals and staff here are "great." A few years back, I had a heart problem, and was rushed to a Government Hospital and spent a couple of days in ICU (which was. to be honest - "great" However, I was then transferred to the Public Ward where conditions were far from "great". The "Head Nurse" was laughing because I didn't speak Thai, I had to go to the tolilet in my bare feet because I was rushed into hospital in only a pair of shorts and underpants. The toilet floor was swimming in urine and there were turds on the floor which had turned black, so they must have been there for a few days at least. I complained, and was told that they were short staffed and didn't have enough cleaners to do all the necessary tasks (B***s***!) The toilet should have been the first place to be kept in a clean condition, as any trained nurse should know. I was there for 3 days, and while I was there, at least 2 people that I know of died on the ward (OK - it's a hospital - people die, but these people didn't seem to be gettinhg the attention they obviously needed) And the doctor that checked my heart functioning on a TV monitor actually sighed and said "Oh dear, doesn't look good" - not exactly a reassuring statement! Anyway, the specialist that I saw was of a different opinion, and I was discharged after 2 days, went home with a few pills (Blood thinners) and have been fine ever since - that was nearly 3 years ago, and have been to other Government hospitals, with other problems, but none as bad as that one, which I refuse point blank to return to. Some of them are better than others, but some do leave a lot to be desired.
  6. Of course there's doubts! The figure was just another pie in the sky guess by that well known Thai "Hub of Guesses" - TAT
  7. "One has to be rather naive not to leave their baggage (stored in the overhead bin) unlocked when sleeping on a flight or a bus"? Don't you mean:- "One has to be rather naive not to leave their baggage (stored in the overhead bin) unlocked when sleeping on a flight or a bus"?
  8. Keeping with the topic?
  9. Paid my first "bar fine"!
  10. " If not dead, then he should be charged with multiple murders, tried quickly and publicly, and then executed. Commute that sentance to life in jail with no chance of ever being released - no royal pardon eligible. If it happens again in the next few months - do not commute the sentence." Don't quite know what you are suggesting here? Executed? Life sentence? And "if it happens AGAIN"........?
  11. From the headlines on Thu 23 November:- "Chinese airlines cancel flights to Thailand as demand drops The Thai PM is defending the temporary visa waiver recently introduced for Chinese tourists, despite several airlines cancelling slots due to low demand." From the headlines on Fri 24 Niovember:- "Despite increasing competition from countries offering visa exemptions to Chinese tourists, Thailand’s tourism industry remains secure due to its dominant market share and increased expenditure per trip, according to the country’s Tourism and Sports Ministry." Hub of "U Turns"?
  12. "..........the British can be absolute savages." I think you are letting your xenophobia about Brits cloud your vision! The "savages" mentioned are the gang of 20 Thai women who chased the Brit into the street and gave him a hiding!
  13. Yes, in spite of the Pattaya defenders spouting the delights of the place, this only serves to back up my post of a few days ago re "Pattaya - Family Friendly Resort?"
  14. Rubbish! The fact that so few guns are available even to the police in itself keeps the number of guns down. Look at the countries where ALL the police are armed - their illegal guns problem is far worse. Look at the countries that have mass shootings by maniacs that have lost the plot. Are guns easily available there? - yes, Does every citizen have the right to bear arms - yes. Do they have a huge problem with illegal guins - yes.
  15. Nope - I know it's a cliche. but animals don't behave like that - I think insects is a better description!
  16. Many years ago a friend of mine went from the UK to the US to visit the Mardi Gras. He was interrogated, denied entry and sent back to the UK on the next flight. The reason? He had a conviction in the UK for possession of a small amount of marijuana. Just saying!
  17. "The reason for why not most guns,...." is that the UK has stricter gun controls - even the Police are not allowed to carry guns as a matter of course :- "In Northern Ireland, all police officers carry firearms whereas in the rest of the United Kingdom, firearms are carried only by specially-trained firearms officers."
  18. Nope - they come from a different world - the planet Zarcon, I believe!
  19. “Are the Thai police that bad?” he asked,......." I leave it to the AseanNow jury to decide!
  20. If he had previously been in prison in his "home country" for selling drugs and firearms, why was he let into Thailand in the first place?
  21. Old Timers Disease already!
  22. At one time I might have been physically able to! :-)
  23. Dumb! All the "patron" has to say is "I'm not driving" Doh!
