  1. I think the headline states that the "complainants" in this case were all Thai!
  2. Is "influencer the latest "buzz word"? I'd never heard it before a few weeks ago and now it's cropping up all over the place!!! Are politicians "influencers" as well as RTP, Immigration Officers, etc etc etc, or is it restricted to the general public?
  3. So where is he in the pic? And where is the pointing finger?
  4. "Contrary to what a lot of people seem to think being an owner of rental properties is not always a big bowl of cherries." Hurrah to that! I sold my house in my old home country a couple of years ag after renting it out for many years, and made the right decision - the hassles of finding suitable tenants are only the first problems. Local councils seem to be going out of their way to make it more and more difficult for "small" landlords - making new rules and regulations that are tailored more for the "big bad boys" in property rental but not differentiating between the two (Like Peter Rachman - Google it) I had to tailor my 2 bedroomed terrace house to the same specifications as a 6 to 8 bedroomed house built primarily for student lets, and all the forms required that have to be filled out in order to "register" your property seem to change monthly - and if you have not complied - big fines will follow!
  5. "...........with the leaky roof almost collapsing and mould growing on the walls,"........... I don't think that the tenant can be blamed for THAT! "but it seems he is getting ready to catch a flight out of the country tomorrow (Aug. 25)." "He added that he would like an entry ban imposed on this tenant as he still has a valid lease to continue living in the house and he was afraid if he did so more destruction would occur." If he is planning to leave the country tomorrow, I don't think he is planning to continue living in the house, and has probably realised already that there is not much chance of getting his deposit back! (Not condoning his behaviour by the way!)
  6. AND an Army general/MP who didn't declare a few million baht's worth of watches prior to taking up his position in the Government? Or has that case not been proved yet as he "forgot about them"?
  7. Without taking sides was it not reported long before he came back to Thailand he was not in the best of health? However, I think that "not being able to sleep" does not really count as an illness that the prison hospital was unable to treat, causing him to be transferred to the Police Hospital! I would imagine that ALL prisoners have the same problem on their first night of incarceration! Tightness in the chest was a good enough reason on its own if he has a heart problem, but somebody could have thought of a better illness than "insomnia" as a secondary reason!
  8. Fans don't really affect the actual temperature of the room - they just move the air around, and make you feel more comfortable.
  9. I wonder who is the script writer for this soap opera? Probably one of the ones responsible for the oh so believable dramas that our wives/GF's watch on Thai TV. So unpredictable with so many twists and turns in the plot it makes my head dizzy, but as far as I can see there will be only one end result - check Mel Gibson's dying words in "Braveheart"!
  10. But we do hear a quiet murmur every year or so that the Government are considering reducing the taxation and import duties by up to 50%!
  11. "On Monday, he told reporters it was “necessary," given the country’s protracted political deadlock, for people to move past the party’s earlier promises not to cooperate with military leaders." Didn't the Who (And I don't mean the World Health Organisation!) hit the nail right on the head? :- ".....Then I'll get on my knees and pray. We don't get fooled again. Don't get fooled again. No, no. Yeah Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss ..." I wonder if Pete Townshend would do lottery numbers if asked nicely?
  12. Going by the photo, he doesn't look like he's going to serve 8 years in jail! Anyway, I thought it was 10 years - that's what was reported on here yesterday! That's a 25% reduction in one day, so if my maths is any good, that means he'll be released by the weekend! Unless, of courts (deliberate typo!) he's out on bail before then!
  13. No I don't - hence the capital letters (Sorry, Admin!) and I agree with your post! They are also (especially in the case of TAT) very good at "expecting"! And I don't mean the "maternal/mother to be" type of expecting!)
  14. I think if they DID close Facebook down in Thailand he WOULD give a toss - probably toss out the Admin staff who appear to have started this problem!
  15. You are spot on Sir! The way the present crop of politicians have treated the opinions of the people is little more than disgraceful, but the people appear to have accepted it without a murmur - I guess with a kind of apathy. The Government make and change the rules and the Constitution willy nilly - all to their own benefit, and Joe Public just carries on with a kind of disappointed acceptance that they can do nothing to change it - Democracy my a**e! But take away something that REALLY matters to them - their only source of enjoyment it would seem, and for many of them, apparently their only purpose in life, and methinks the sparks will fly!
  16. And in order to be able to "look after his grandchildren"?
  17. "Police have already contacted them to come to the police station to be charged with various legal charges." Ermm, how's about getting off your a***s and asking them to accompany you to the station?
  18. Come on - the guy had a pistol - that's DANGEROUS!
  19. All bets are OFF! Or is it ON?
  20. "Immigration Police on Friday (Aug 18) announced the arrest of an American man and his Thai wife who allegedly ran an escort website from their home in Hua Hin." And further down in the article:- "His accomplice, Ms. Kanya (last name withheld), 34, was detained after arriving on a flight at Suvarnabhumi Airport." Was it his wife or not? And why was her last name withheld?
  21. "..............a fair and efficient course of action without detention." Yeah, right!
  22. "Following an ongoing effort to thwart foreign criminals seeking refuge in Thailand................." I wonder how many "proper" foreign criminals this ongoing effort has managed to get off the streets rather than the "easy targets"/ overstayers we seem to see almost every day on here? P.S. Nice to see the "pointing finger" back but in this case it appears to be pointing the wrong way! ????
  23. But, but, but - the people have ALREADY decided, and the PIP (Politicians In Power) have said (Rather surprisingly!) "No chance, not while we're holding the reins!", so under the current legislation, you could have a myriad of Elections, and "They" will hold meetings after meetings to decide why they can't allow the results to stand, because the results will probably never go in their favour - unless of course they are "doctored" in their favour, and then they can hold more meetings to explain why the results are genuine! And in the meantime, the show goes on, or to be more precise, is undergoing what appears to be an "interminably extended intermission"!
  24. And so the fiasco rolls on - no PM after the vote on May 14 2023 showed that the vast majority of the people in Thailand wanted a new party in Government, and the ones in Government said "No you can't have one!" Democratic Government? From Wikipedia:- To date Thailand has had 20[2] charters and constitutions, reflecting a high degree of political instability. The Economist Intelligence Unit rated Thailand a "flawed democracy" in 2022.[3], and the situation has not changed since. And the circus rolls on and on and on and............!!!
