  1. "Chalong police have been busy gathering evidence for the issuing of warrants to send to Interpol and the Canadian police in the next day or two to try and get the assassins arrested and brought back to Thailand." Hope they have more luck than they have had in getting "Boss" detained!
  2. Especially on a motorbike! Who thought up that crazy piece of legislation? (Bet his name starts with A or P!!!)
  3. Before TAT make all these new plans and predictions for the future ("Amazing New Thailand", "Even More Amazing Thailand" etc etc) I think they should consult with their bosses Prayut and Anutin to find out what their plans are for the future! But maybe that's not a good idea either, because Anutin changes his mind about things about as often as I shower! (And before any body makes some wise guy comment about "dirty unwashed farangs", the reference was intended!)
  4. And things look set to get much worse - the scandalous increases in Gas and Electricity bills is IMHO only the start - all the money paid out to those on "furlough" has to be found from somewhere!
  5. I saw a video of an "incident" involving footballers walking off the pitch a few years ago. (Sorry, can't recall the players/teams involved), but one player jokingly flicked the ear of one of the opposing team (from behind - boo!) and the resultant rolling around and thrashing about was worthy of an Oscar. It only stopped when even his own team mates were laughing at him!
  6. "Thai Rath contacted the chief of Phuket police Pol Maj-Gen Sermphan Sirikhong who said that the first he heard of the incident was from the media who contacted him." Sounds about right for the RTP chain of command. Probably thought it was just another farang holidaymaker who'd had too much to drink, and was probably "asking for it" so not worthy of his involvement. But now that it turns out that she is the wife of a "celebrity" there is the chance that it might be putting Phuket in a bad light, so now "He promised to find out where and when it happened and get to the bottom of the incident."
  7. Serious question - does the fact that the accident happened on a private estate and not a public road have any bearing on the issue?
  8. And Insurance Companies make it less fair! Your point about "years up front" is a fair point, but if you insure a car if you do not amke a claim, your premium is reduced by way of a "no claims bonus". Not so with health insurance. Your premium goes up every year whether you make a claim or not, until it becomes impossibly high to pay for some. And what is the point of paying upwards of 100,000 baht A YEAR for Insurance that doesn't cover you for pre existing conditions? How many people do you know past the age of 65 that DOESN'T have hypertension to some degree, or high cholesterol. The fact that these conditions affect so many people shows that their medication is very successful (Usually one tablet a day - almost like taking a daily vitamin tablet, or a contraceptive pill - becomes a habit!) but the Insurance companies just find it an excuse to up their profits even further by charging extra to have these conditions covered. Plus of course, there are quite a few people who are just classed as uninsurable because they are TOO old - I fall into that category, but am fortunate enough to have enough money to "self insure". As you say, life is not fair for some, but that doesn't mean that insurance companies should be able to inflate their profits by taking advantage of their customers!
  9. You've just got to feel sorry for TAT! ???? They are doing their best to persuade tourists to come to Thailand but their efforts are thwarted at every step by this buffoon, and his teetotal boss!
  10. And a couple of days ago he made the point that mask wearing is not mandatory! Every comment he makes seems to be followed up a few days alter by a contradictory comment - is he doing this "flip flopping" about on purpose? After all, apparently "there is no such thing as bad publicity"!
  11. "Anutin has also repeatedly expressed annoyance around lack of mask-wearing compliance in public," Which is more or less the opposite of what he said a few days ago! The man is a total hypocrite, constantly issuing contradictory statements and seems to enjoy "flip flopping" about with his decisions. It is obvious that the only reason that he holds the position that he does is purely due to the fact that he is "loaded", and absolutely nothing to do with his abilities as a Health Minister or Deputy PM, and as a spokesman for the Government, he is an absolute disaster. And he wants to be the next Prime Minister? Be scared - be very, very, scared!
  12. Well said - I know of a couple of people that that has happened to, but fortunately they were covered by insurance. The hospital that they were carried off to, that I can not name because of defamation laws wanted to charge one tourist 19,000 baht for ONE stitch in a cut finger, so what they charged for a 2 week stay would probably pay for 2 Thais wages for a year!
  13. "A campaign should be launched to educate drivers about the rights of pedestrians and not encroaching on zebra crossings or crossing red traffic lights," As, a certain well known British actor would say, "I don't BELEEEEEVE it"! Drivers need to be told not to cross red traffic lights?
  14. OK - you tell me where in the "full story" in the article we are commenting on does it say that he has been detained? Or are you referring to a different article which we do not know about - we are not mind readers, but would probably have a "ganders" at it if you provide a link! The man who was not named by Sanook will meet with police next Thursday, but twenty three victims of his perverted activities have already filed complaints on January 10th. So what's taking them so long - I guess my previous post will give an inkling!
  15. Innocent until proven guilty I suppose, but it would have been a different story if he wasn't a Navy Officer (Lieutenant Commander, no less)
  16. Flip flopping again from the goon who chastised a farang for not accepting a mask from his unprotected mitt! Everything this guy says seems to invite criticism and maybe that's his plan - nobody can be that stupid - surely? As was stated by Phineas T. Barnum, the 19th century American showman and circus owner, "There's no such thing as bad publicity!"
  17. "empty your Thai bank accounts and withdraw your local assets as much as you can, ..........................................." Unfortunately, some "long stayers" have to have 800,000 baht in a Thai bank account just so that we can get a visa to stay here - and have to leave it there for 6 months of the year! And I do agree with you about it being a scam - legalised corruption whereby the big hotels and private hospitals can make a killing by hospitalising/quarantining people that don't even have any symptoms, but a false positive can force them into an unnecessary 100,000 baht (app) bill - scandalous!
  18. Let me guess - this warning did not come from TAT?
  19. I know how he feels - that's maybe what caused him to crash in the first place - seriously!
  20. "Then stood by as the military mounted a coup and junta rules the country." And exactly what option did they have? (see my earlier post - tanks v sickles) And when the military junta chief/PM changes the constitution "off his own bat", to put 250 of his own senators/generals in place, how do you tell him that it is unconstitutional to do that? Perhaps, "Please don't do that, it's against the Constitution!" (Not any more it ain't!) "They voted in numbers for Palang Pracharath at the last general election." If you and the vote counters say so, they must have done! When a military junta takes over a country by force, and changes the Constitution/Rules willy nilly to suit their own current and future agendas, I ask again - what would you do to to rectify the situation if you want a change of Government? All I hear from you is the "blame game", no suggestions to rectify it!
  21. On the one hand TAT are desperate to get the tourists back, and (forgetting the Chinese) for that to happen, the Government needs to properly open the country, including all the bars and places of entertainment, because tourists in general do not like to be treated like lepers when they are on holiday. But the Government wants to keep the "State of Emergency" in place, so that they can keep the lid on any protests or opposition to their "Democracy" (????) Oh, deary me - what a quandary!
