I recently went for a residence certificate at Jomtien immigration. They would not don't until I updated my TM30 in my new passport. So this is why it's a good idea to update it.

Report Expat Confusion Grows as Thailand Cracks Down on Helmet Law Violations
jimn replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Many of them here in Pattaya. You must live in Nakon Nowhere. -
What a load of bull manure. Especially that video, what was that all about? Talking about Indians making incorrect accusations against a backdrop of normal Thai life. The screenshot that shows the video is not Indians sleeping on the beach, it's a number of nationalities after the countdown in Pattaya this year, which was cleaned up shortly after. Whilst not a lover of some of the Indian people's behaviour it is exaggerated because nowadays there are more Indians visiting since visa regulations were eased.

Your problem has nothing to do with reporting your address. Your online report was rejected due to the stupid rule requiring your first report after being outside the country to be done in person. Simple as that. Address reporting is a separate issue you may have to submit a new TM30 if you stayed in a hotel and the hotel registered you at that address.

Well I have been using Cambodia Travel for a few years. This year I went to them to do my extension and they informed me that they no longer use Bangkok Bank. I think they must have had problems with their branch on Pattaya Tai. Anyway they said they now use Krungsri Bank. Not wishing to change agent I agreed to this and met the agent a few days later at the branch in Central to open a new account. I had to go down to the AIS shop for some reason with one of their helpers to get a slip to take back to the bank. I then waited with the agent and then opened a new Krungsri account at no cost. The agent did the business and put 800k in and then I transferred back to them. I then had to go to Soi 5 immigration where I met another helper for my photo to be taken. I collected my extension from them 3 days later. The cost was 12,500 baht, no extra cost for opening a new Krungsri account. Hope this helps.

Crime Pattaya Nightclub Inspections Boost Tourist Confidence
jimn replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
A nonsense and misleading article. The police rarely if ever inspect the tourist nightclubs on Walking St etc. They do however inspect the many Thai clubs that are found on 3rd road etc. These have nothing to do with keeping tourists safe. -
Lots of laughable comments about destroying Pattaya as a family destination, it's pathetic. None of you know where all this took place. It's out on the Darkside in Nongprue. It's miles away from the tourist and and so called "family" area. It's just a problem with local youths that occurs in many cities of the world. Stop posting digs at Pattaya because you are not allowed to go there and have a bit of fun.

Crime Brutal Bloodshed in Pattaya: Briton Stabbed, Suspects Vanish
jimn replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
My reply was about people in general not specifically you. But as you made it personal I will engage. Of course it's not right to engage in any criminal activity, the point is that it was happening years ago as well, but nowadays we know about it because of social media. Most people post about Pattaya with limited or no personal experience. I don't suggest anything other than it's a great place to live. I am not talking about the inner city but the whole area Pattaya encompasses. My original post if you had read it properly stated I have lived here 12 years. Obviously you prefer not to live here but with your limited recent knowledge does not give you the right to make trash comments like "Pattaya is a crime ridden, foreign infested hellhole! Finally like I said, people who live in Nackon Nowhere which translates to "A small town in Issan" You are obviously an older person like myself, but someone stuck in the past, unlike me who is able to adapt and change with the times. -
Crime Brutal Bloodshed in Pattaya: Briton Stabbed, Suspects Vanish
jimn replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
All this bull manure being posted about Pattaya. Yes there are isolated incidence that get publicity due to increased social media that wasn't there in days gone by. If you just live your life and stay out of trouble Pattaya is a safe and enjoyable place to live. There is first class housing in the gated villages in East Pattaya. Loads of varied nightlife when you choose to visit. Restaurants are some of the best in Asia. There are beaches in Pattaya and Jomtien with many quiet beaches just outside. Water quality is questionable on Pattaya beach but other areas fine. People who put Pattaya down either havnt spent much time here or have never been. Or in many cases are jealous because they live in a bedsit in the UK or somewhere in Nakon Nowhere in Thailand. I have lived in my house in East Pattaya on the Darkside for 13 years and never ever seen or experienced any violence like reported on the various media channels. -
Just use plain flour and crunch up a Viagra pill in it, that should do the trick.

It was probably just her gas

Contrary to popular opinion. Dongtan Beach is "not full of homosexuals". Normal people trying to enjoy the beach. After dark it's different I am told.
-
Another keyboard Richard Head warrior. I have been here 12 years, married to my Thai wife. I am on the beach now and the homeless are everywhere. I know they have to stay somewhere but stay off the beach, spoiling it for everyone.
-
I know the beach area is known as a gay area, but not at that part of the beach near the 7/11 100 metre's down from the corner of Therapaya Road. The gay part is much further down and only really at night. Good on you for visiting those countries, I have been to India on many occasions. The comments you made were totally irrelevant to the question I posed, but you chose to turn it around, I was asking a serious question.
-
This may be perceived by some as being a bit callous, but I am fed up with the drunk homeless people that live on the footpath in the car park on Dongtan beach Jomtien. There are at least 30 of them that have set up home there. They have their sparse belongings piled up at the back of the beach and bring them up to the top where they sleep and drink all day. There is a woman who has a few dirty beach mats and tries to rent them out. They are always load and drunk, visible to the authorities, but they don't care. As a foreigner who lives here, I feel intimidated and if anything damages Thailand's reputation, it's this.

It's certainly the cheapest all you eat as far as I know. I found the starter good but the meat, roast potatoes and veg average. In my opinion The Robin Hood in the Avenue complex is the best

Extension (retirement) rules change?
jimn replied to DanChang's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Then this makes the discussion on this thread irrelevant. Your topic is really just for information then, if you had phrased it like this in the first place there would have been no confusion. Suggest thread is closed. -
Visa Exempt 30 day extension
jimn replied to Sam555's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Thanks. I have never dealt with those desks. The Retirement, 90 day report and Residence Certificate deeks from my experience run smoothly. It's also a nice air conditioned environment now with food and drink options just outside. I can understand though that some people can have a bad experience here and that leads to the "rogue office" tag from someone who don't even know the facts. -
Thanks for noticing it
-
All you people that don't know the area commenting as if you are an expert. It's Jomtien not Pattaya for a start. The beach area is frequented by homeless drunk noisy Thai's at night and this is clearly the issue. It appears that one of them made a derogatory comment to the fat farang's fat woman and this started the issue. The farang is obviously a bully but he had a reason to react. As usual as soon as one Thai guy gets attacked the others join in. The farang probably wasn't even drunk.

Visa Exempt 30 day extension
jimn replied to Sam555's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
@CMBobalready gave the correct answer. My issue was not related to the question it was related to the way "in my opinion", you always say that Jomtien is a rogue office when it is not. My first hand experience of Jomtien is that it's a well organised office now since the building was changed and considering the volume of people they deal with, they do an excellent job.
