    They die.

I've been using this for 2 years not cremated yet,  cost a bit more than 700 baht though.

That's a nice antique. Try to flog it as such and get yourself a real 55inch TV for 17k to 22k.

Plasma seems to be much more  forgiving of digital artefacts I can watch low bitrate 420P

( small file size) an my 50 inch Plasma and it looks fine (to me) at 2.5 meters away..one big disadvantage of Plasma though is  its so noisy in the remote control frequency that sometimes with a very bright screen even the original remote has trouble getting through..I was pulling my hair out wondering why a home made universal remote for my Aircon, lights and TV stopped working when the TV was on ????

  2. The receivers for sale in Thailand are all "much the same"  for about 700 baht up.. all the ones I've looked at have  a USB port that can  connect to a flash drive or hard drive to record or playback recordings, have  HDMI and composite outputs and a remote control...you could try importing some "high end" equipment form Europe or UK which use the same DVB-T2 standard but the Thai customs department may have a nice surprise for you !

More recently on Jomtien, a branch fell from one of the old, untended trees and killed an Italian guy. Instead of doing some much needed lopping of old, dangerous branches, they cut all the trees down and bought some more palm trees from Nong Nuch Gardens.

Here is the culprit beheaded !!!

A few times there's been overnight camps, son returns the 'permission to attend' forms with a note that he will accompany the school bus and stay until bedtime, then he brings the kid home and takes back to the camp site early next morning.

What's the point  of not letting the kid camp out overnight with school friends at a supervised camp site ?  seems a bit odd to me  unless he changes into a pumpkin at midnight ????

It's much more likely that they don't have a clue and quoted a high figure hoping that you'd just buy a new one. They were not expecting you to agree to a 12k repair!

Yes that seems likely to me too... if they replaced the CPU and motherboard then there would not be much more to go wrong, but still not the best idea..take it somewhere else ( 2 or 3 places) for another opinion first.

Maybe Pattaya prefers the higher spending international tourists?

Don't know about Pattaya so much these days..but Jomtien is very busy every weekend with Thai tourists,

yesterday  busy all the way along to the 2 restaurants at the south end  "Bpoo Ben"  was doing good trade  "Loong Sawai"  about half as busy   but I think maybe they relied more on  those large Thai disco tour buses.

Photo from last year before all the WuFlu nonsense.
