  1. If you are asking me ? then no as I don't have an openbox or even a satellite dish located in Thailand.

Did you look at the forum with link to the channel editor software I posted ?

Another thing to try is if you have an old copy of the file you used to get from jsat see what the file extension name is

ie : filename.whatever then search on google for *.whatever from the past year.

  2. Most of the time the "inspection" for paying yearly tax at the private inspection places

    post-2109-0-09307200-1357115893.gif

( on a motorbike ) is just checking the chassis and engine numbers actually match the book

some times they will test the exhaust emissions, lights, brakes and if the horn works.

When changing names at the DLT sometimes the checks are a bit more stringent especially on older "big bikes" as they are prone to having dodgy green books.

If the bike has a Bangkok registration plate and you want to have your name in the green book

you either need to go to Bangkok with the bike and change names there ( keeping Bangkok plates )

or you can "move" the bike to Khon khen province this entails informing the KK DLT that you want to de-register from Bangkok

that will take a couple of days or weeks to do and you'll have to go back to the KK DLT and give them your BKK plates then they'll give you new KK plates.

Also to change names the tax ( and I think compulsory government insurance ) has to be up to date

Third option is let an "agent" do all the running around for you in your case with different province number plates it may be the best option. ( Unless you're up for a challenge )

  3. I know the video is hard to watch.....

but it very clearly shows that just because there is a zebra crossing painted on the road it offers pedestrians in Thailand no protection what so ever,

in fact I think in many cases it's more dangerous to use them for both pedestrians and drivers...

many are very hard to see as they are faded with little or no sign posts to warn drivers of their existence..

if a driver stops for someone crossing there is quite a high chance of being "rear ended" by the "tail gater" behind.

  4. Recently FB has been under some criticism for the lack of security of FB accounts and maybe this sort of thing is one of the ways they are trying to improve their security

Sound more like some phishing scam than security ! I'd be extremely wary of anyone asking for a scan of passport

why would they lock you out for just a change of IP address ?

my IP changes about every 24 hours as the ISP auto refreshes their leases.

  5. Technically to be the owner you need your name in the green book.

If you have a receipt from the previous owner and the green book as long as you keep paying tax then there is no big rush to change registration

lots of dealers and a fair few others who only keep bikes for a short time will not bother changing owners in the green book and just give the next buyer all the required paperwork...however there are things that can go wrong when doing that so best to get it in your name as soon as possible.

  6. It was always entertaining to stand on the verandah of Royal Garden Plaza in Beach rd Pattaya and watch the first time tourists naively walk across rhe zebra crossing to the beach. The look of horror on their faces when they realized the huge bus was not stoppong was priceless. Always surprised no one was killed there.....or perhaps the BIB kept it quiet, don't want to discourage the tourists.

There where a couple of German tourists ( if I remember correctly ) killed on a zebra crossing in Bangkok a couple of years ago,

    that made the headlines.

  7. 3500 peak hot season. One aircon, two fans, two refrigerators.

1800 Rainy season....Aircon only on afternoon.

    1200 Cooler seasons.

our evos ( evenings ) are comfortable enough...up in Udon..but definitely need the aircon 24 hours April and May

    evos....just made it up.

I get up early in the morvos....and don't even use a fan at that time

i insist on a maximum of 26ºC in the morvos, arvos, evos and nighvos. before going to bed i cool down the bedroom to 18ºC and switch of the airvo when sleeping.

Ha ha very good Naam thats funny laugh.png

Arvos = afternoons a British colloquialism

I am British but I have never heard of this word. I have looked it up and I can find no reference to it except as "arvo", something Australian.

Can you confirm this word as officially existing through an authoritative source?

Sorry I cant give you an authoritative source because its a colloquialism and won't be found in the likes of the Oxford English dictionary

They used to use it quite a lot in those old black and white World War II ( and earlier ) films.

  8. sods law I bought 3 boxes x 100 typhoo tea bags a couple of weeks ago while there was no Yorkshire tea in sight now its everywhere laugh.png

    Friendship ( sometimes )

NoQ never heard of them before but thanks for the link

London Pie Shop ( where is that ? )

    Yorkies ( at Jomtien ? )

    Spoilt for choice in Pattaya.

  9. What i find most annoying are drivers who park right on the corner of a junction (on red of course) making it very difficult for anyone exiting the side road to see what's coming.

Accomplished "Thai drivers" use those vehicles parked on the corner as "magic shields" enabling them to zoom out of side streets on to the main road without a care in the world that anyone will crash into them...because the shield car has magically pushed the traffic out of the lane they zoom into..the faster this manoeuvre is performed the better the results !!! facepalm.gif
