  1. Not English. Scotland. As per the article you linked to: Scots GP Dr Joasia Zakrzewski, 47, finished third in the 2023 GB Ultras Manchester to Liverpool 50-mile race but is said to have travelled by car for 2.5 miles. Dr Zakrzewski, from Dumfries
  2. It's a poor translation. Again. The quoted Daily News item states 'sports pants tied to the bars' and that he used the pants as a rope to tie around his neck. Matichon News identified the man as "Michael Matthew Winder, 31, an Australian national" after a drunken rampage on Bangla Road, and states he tied his shirt around his neck and bars of his cell. A third news source may have another version! . . . I don't know what to believe.
  3. Yes. My partner was, prior to her current role, an auditor for the commercial claims at Virayah insurance. A drugged or drink driver may void a company's insurance - so in effect it's a double-edged situation where if the driver is drugged, or drunk, it is possibly an advantage to the bus company if he flees, later gets charged for that offence, and uses the usual 'brake fail' reason. It's a crooked system through and through.
  4. Good on her, a bit of fun. And if anyone here can run 42 consecutive kilometres at a pace of 5 min 19 per km, regardless of what clothing they choose to wear, do it! Never particularly enjoyed running, my best half marathon 1hr 34, @ 4:27 per km but that distance was my limit. Respect to Shrinya “Dr Miyu” Kanchanasewi
  5. You're having a laugh, surely. If there's a Thai phrase for 'don't let the door hit you on the way out' then that would apply. Any 'contribution' is miniscule in the scheme of things, offset by the hordes of derelict old alcoholics one step away from a balcony leap.
  6. Confuscious? Well perhaps you're confused, as you're certainly no Confucius Know many independent women in management positions; rate my partner as same as she's not dependent upon me or my income - accountant/office manager and I'd say many of her colleagues and friends are similarly 'independent' in terms of careers/earnings. Perhaps widen your circle of acquaintances. get out more.
  7. Possibly OP has got the message - after all, the August 2021 law prohibiting import has been posted three times now. 4. Consequence of Violation Any violated importation of used motorcycle therein said motorcycle shall be destroyed by the Customs Department accordingly.
  8. As with almost all these run events, you're getting an event t-shirt included in your entry fee - check the registration it has a section for entrants to confirm their shirt size.
  9. A few years back? Pre- August 2021? This seems very clear on the matter: Thailand: Introduced import ban on used motorcycles On 11 August 2021, Thailand issued the Ministry of Commerce Notification B.E. 2564 (2021) to ban the import of used motorcycles. The affected products included used motorcycle, electric motorcycle, moped, bicycle fitted with auxiliary motor (electric bike) under HS code 87.11, and used antique motorcycle with age more than 100 years old, under HS code 97.06. Used motorcycles mean motorcycles under the definition above-mentioned which have been used and should be goods prohibited from being imported into Thailand according to the Notification. The regulation entered into force on 11 August 2021
  10. Lived near there for a year, 2010-11 and visit occasionally.
  11. Read: murder/suicide. It is believed that Phumiphat “Ikkyu” Chaiwanichaya shot dead Supitcha “Gigi” Pridacharoen before shooting himself.
  12. Our town, pop. 9,000 has no hotel/pub/bar, no licensed cafes. Best barstool bs-ing farang deterrent ever.
  13. Chao Lao beach, Chanthaburi Eastern Thailand: Chachoengsao, Chanthaburi, Chon Buri, Prachin Buri, Rayong, Sa Kaeo, Trat
  14. Taksin Maharat Bridge, Paknam Chanthaburi, Laem Sing New asphalt and repainted cycleway 20 April 2023 Eastern Thailand: Chachoengsao, Chanthaburi, Chon Buri, Prachin Buri, Rayong, Sa Kaeo, Trat
  15. NZ: Patrick Gower calls for canned children's feral cat killing competition to return The Newshub journalist is encouraging Rotherham School to "get the competition back on" and even offered a reward. Discussing the matter on AM panel, Gower said he will always be on the side of native birds when it comes to feral cats "every single day of the week". "If they're going to hunt, and there are feral cats in the way, then we have to wipe them out." "Feral cats need to be shot, they need to be run over, they need to be trapped, they need to be wiped off the face of Aotearoa, New Zealand." Gower is encouraging Rotherham School to "get the competition back on" and to "get the kids back out there". If they do, he's offering his own reward for children who hunt feral cats. Gower told AM if the children are from hunting families and are shooting rabbits and possums anyway, then feral cats should be targeted too. "We need to look at wiping them out and I support Rotherham School and what they're doing."
  16. The competition itself is not cancelled, just that there is no longer a category for feral cats, which may still be shot but won't count towards competition points. . . The competition is a beloved community event and fundraiser for Rotherham School and pool, attracting more than 900 participants in 2022, 250 of which were in the junior category. Juniors hunted animals including possums, ducks, hares, rabbits, rats and geese. Feral cats have a major impact on native wildlife, and its introduction as a category was mostly met with praise by locals. . . NZ Department of Conservation The control techniques that we currently use to control feral cats are poisoning, trapping and shooting. Where cats are lethally controlled, DOC uses efficient and humane best-practice techniques and adheres to the Animal Welfare Act 1999.
  17. The clue there maybe that it was cheap. NZ beef exports in 2022 $1.9 billion to China, $1.4 billion to USA, Thailand doesn't appear on any list I can find so guessing very low volume or forward from another country. Just saying you may not have tried them all?
  18. Could possibly be out at age 73 if he behaves: "12-year non-parole term, which was backdated to 2020."
  19. Suggest next year he wears a Mohammed costume as fancy dress. What could possibly go wrong? Reminded here of the Nzer Philip Blackwood who was sentenced to 2.5 yrs hard labour in Myanmar for displaying a picture of Buddha wearing headphones at his bar. Yes, people can be 'sensitive' over such matters. As I mentioned earlier, as a Thai he'll get away with it. A westerner, less likely.
  20. And one more on the topic of annual conscription, broadening the net of candidates: For 2023 the minimum height for candidates has been reduced from 159cm to 146cm. For those imperial-minded folk that's 5' 2 1/2" down to 4' 9 1/2". Small arms experience?
  21. Yes indeed. We know two young men who attended the black/red day on Sunday. One of each, one out, one in, but there's a catch. The one who 'drew black' ensured that outcome by making a payment of 60,000 baht on Saturday. A double catch, agreed fee had been 30,000 until Friday Inflation? Annual cost of living increase?
  22. Didn't find the 2022 number, but for 2021 it was 3,524 volunteers, far fewer than the hoped for 10,000. Result, 6,500 more conscripts required.
  23. Thank goodness it's Thai man in the costume. There would be serious 'netizen lynch-mob outrage' if a foreigner had worn this costume.
  24. US 4250 million in first two weeks, but yet to match John Wick: Chapter 3’s $327 million ... sure it will. I saw it while in NZ same day as family here went, it's fictional escapism, but perhaps a generation or two removed from much of this forum's demographic. I saw Living too, star performance from Bill Nighy facing his death (now that one probably would resonate here)
  25. Some notes on the previous post. My most recent 30-day extension on a 60-day Tourist visa - Chanthaburi immigration gave me the extension at around the 45 day mark (this after my phone inquiry) they did not add the 30 days from that date, but from the date of the 60 day expiry as stamped in my passport. Not a new thing this has always been the way for me while working offshore intermittently for the past six years.
