  1. In France my professional phone provider was Orange. The bill was every month about 150 - 200 €.

My private phone provider was SOSH (managed and provided by Orange!) and I paid only 19.99€ for:

    • unlimited calls in France
    • unlimited call reception within Europe
    • unlimited SMS and MMS within Europe (send and receive)
    • unlimited Internet in France
    • Internet in Europe was limited but as I never used it I don't know what was the limit.

Here in Thailand I have a SIM card from TRUE and when I call to Europe it cost around 2 THB/min. But most of the time I call over the home Wifi and Line, WhatsApp or Viber and it's for free.

  2. Hello,

In France I used to live in a staff housing. It was a very big house with cameras and sensor everywhere and of course, it was all connected to Internet. I could see every room on my phone and got an alarm every time a sensor was activated.

    I became crazy, paranoid!

I became like the young people that you see today: always looking on my mobile phone browsing from room to room, checking every detail and when I couldn't log in to the Internet, I started to sweat...

After 1 month, I disconnected the security panel from the Internet and my life was wonderful again.

I was always interested in new technologies but that experience was not a success. If I was in Europe, I would have a lot of connected devices in my home... but no cam anymore.

  3. I'm going on 60 yo and have a nap after lunch since I was 45.

I sleep only 15-20 minutes but very deep. I wake up without alarm clock and I can move mountains after the nap. If I can't sleep after lunch, don't ask me to open a glass of jam, it's too much.

Nights I sleep very well. I used to sleep around 8 hours. Now I sleep only 6 hours but maybe because I move less than 15 years ago...

I don't drink alcohol at all and I drink only one cup of coffee in the morning (I used to drink 15/20 espresso/day).

I think that everyone should know by himself if a nap is good or not. But anyway it shouldn't be so long that the night sleep becomes shorter.

  4. The OP doesn't actually state whether he already holds a valid French Driving Licence, in which case he wouldn't need to take the full Thai test.

He wouldn't need to take te full test if he has an INTERNATIONAL DL. His French DL won't be recognized. When I went to get a license, they said that if my license (German) was in English, they could "do something" but as it was in German only, I had to take the full test.

@OP : it's because of people like you who try to go over the laws that Farangs have bad reputation.

  5. My GF sold her 1st car private. The buyer called her a dozen of times because that was not ok, this was broken, the clutch made a strange sound and and and...

She sold her second car to a dealer who never called her (although she "forgot" to tell him that the brakes were to be renewed).

If you want to avoid any problem, sell it to a dealer. They are professionals and if there is something wrong with your car they should see it before they buy.

  6. I know some Farangs who expect here the same "neighbor rules" as in their home country: no loud music after 10 PM and on Sunday, no dog bark, no banana tree hanging over the fence, no children playing on the road, no car running 30 min in front of house...

Most of the Farangs who get trouble think that because they have money they have all rights to do whatever they want or that they can flirt with every woman they see.

The trouble comes often from the lack of respect.

  7. The 400,000 Baht has to be in the bank for 2 months before application.

Oops... it will make then only a bit more than THB 800 interest... anyway more than if you keep it on regular account smile.png

Interest rate has been 1.35% since the end of June, I think. Nonetheless, a good recommendation from your side, imho.

Oops... it will make a bit less than expected... but anyway just enough to invite your Mrs to have dinner whistling.gif

I update my book only 2 times per year that's the reason why I didn't know about the lower interest rate blink.png

  8. I gues that if we don't spend 2-3 hours/day in the garden weeds will keep on growing up and sprouting faster than grass.

I gave up and now I mow everything: grass, weeds and anything that might sprout there. It's green and pretty.

During the dry period we had a few weeks ago, I didn't water it and it got braun, looked like it was all dead. It was too dry to mow then I burned all.

After a few days of rain, it got green again and now it's pretty... it's green.

  9. Several times per month I am forced to answer some curious foreigner’s question, “Why do you live in Thailand?” Invariably, I answer with one word; “freedom”.

If I had to answer that question I would say HAPPINESS!

I decide to start listing the many liberties I enjoy in the Land of Smiles but not in my country of origin

And the first, the only freedom on your list is the breakfast menu... I pity you. You should look around you with open eyes and see that breakfast is only a very small part of the life.

  10. At the end off the day does it matter? I can insure it so does it really make any difference if i leave it in his name?

The only thing you have to do is to keep the car as it is described in the blue book.

For example you can't paint it blue if it's written "Red" in book or change the exhauster for a louder one... At the annual technical inspection they check if the car is in accordance with the blue book. If it's not, you have to register the changes in book and that can do only the owner who's name is in the book...

best of luck with that if you have an accident. you can do anything you like here of course. the problems start when things go wrong, such as accidents

Even in case of accident there will be no problem. I mean problem about the name in book different of the driver's name.

There could be problems only if the car is listed as stolen... but it isn't, is it? tongue.png
