Why, I wonder, don't they look it up on their computer?

It is fascinating that immigration officials ask applicants for an extension of stay for a copy of the TM.30 notification made by the hotel where they are staying instead of looking it up on their own computer. Is it because they have not been trained to do this database search?

From what I have seen, the type of acceptable document formats is separately stated for each section of the application process.

London is a desired location for Thai diplomatic staff and I consider it likely that many do not get posted there because of there qualifications for the job and there manners.

Did you get a visa with the word "marriage" printed, stamped, or handwritten on it from the Thai consulate in Savannakhet?

With the visa-exempt entry, you get permission to stay for 30 days. If desired, you can apply at the nearest immigration for a 30-day extension for THB 1,900

This means you're out of luck and can't get an eVisa from India and have to fly to Thailand without a visa.

There is nothing to stop you from trying. The first part of the eVisa application is a verification whether you qualify for it. Answer those questions truthfully and see how far you get.

Your UK nationality does not qualify you for the visa on arrival, but under the visa waver program you are free to travel to Thailand any time without a visa for the purpose of tourism for 30 days (29 nights). Be sure to say "tourism" if the immigration official asks for the reason of your visit, because there is a miniscule chance that if you say "visit my wife" a surly official may incorrectly berate you that you should have used a non-O visa.

Write on a sheet of paper: "There is no person inviting me to stay with them, but I have read several news reports quoting the governor of the Tourist Authority of Thailand that he encourages and welcomes foreigners to visit Thailand" Save this to PDF or photograh it and then upload it with the e-visa application.

No fine when you do it on the first working day after your arrival.
