I used to teach at a large high school in Bangkok, right on busy Vibhavadi Road. After school, kids (I knew they were Mattayom 4 (age 16-17), would pile 2 and 3 on a scooter going the wrong way, right in front of the Thai teachers and admins out in front of the school. Not a word was said and I quickly learned to keep my mouth shut about it after being admonished "You not understand the Thai way" a few times. Just sickening

Anyone willing to lend you money legitimately wants proof of a source of income to pay back that loan. In Thailand, that proof would be both work permit and salary / check stub documents. Without that you will not likely find any legal lenders willing to risk giving you cash.

I used to do that...but in reality if you use any financial/banking apps...you'll likely need to replace phone before it's useful life due to the apps not working on old Android version down the line. Save up front and pay to replace earlier
