Yellow house book requires long term visa
tonray replied to thaibook's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
When I moved I to GF's house in Bang Yai, went to district office and was told long term visa irrelevant, had to be married. Informed my neighbor who is married and he went with wife a few days later and they made up a different excuse. Some municipalalities just don't want to accept foreigners or more correctly don't want to deal with the the paperwork. -

Rowing is a great exercise. Many years ago I fell into a group of semi-competitive rowers using Concept II machines. I did a few meets (inside large city Gyms in the USA)...some of these old guys at the time (over 60 grouping) could whip me at age 40 (then) during these 10 and 15K rows. Just be careful about form....easy to mess up your back over time if not using proper technique. -
How early can I renew driving licence at Morchit DLT?
tonray replied to soi3eddie's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Currently it may take up to 3 months to book an appointment, so start earlier -
Two years running...no refund...out almost 4000 baht just like you. They play a shell game...processed everything correctly and said my claim was accepted...but never a baht back. They are broke...except for Tony and his wife who are fabulously rich....

Newflash...you can actually watch a movie @ 4Mbps @ 1080p. The whole speed thing is absurd for the casual user. Medical imaging, commercial CAD/CAM stuff..yeah...but way overkill for anybody else.

Yes...the GF drove us down once for a day trip...never again. Not my scene at all...and she remembers different times going down on Sunday with her family as a kid....not her scene now either.

I think he means where there is endless noise, kids running around without diapers, street racing boys with loud exhausts ruining your entire experience. That's what Cha Am or Bang Saen beaches are like.

You must determine local pests. For example, I found out our new house in Nonthaburi was built upon riverfill clay. Along with that clay fill came a million snails, which eat almost everything but I have learned that certain plants are impervious to their efforts. I would vote for the zen, called xeriscaping. Low water requirements, low maintenance. Cactus, red button ginger, thick ,waxy leafed plantings. I'm in process of planning conversion of our lawn and garden area this year.

The best thing one can do is to take taxis for a few months in the area you will be driving the most. Observe everything the driver does especially in relation to watching out for motorbikes. This helped me significantly in learning 1) not to haphazardly assume the left (or right) shoulders are empty, 2) knowing that even if you maintain proper following distance, a bike will likely slip in between you and the car in front without warning 3) during rush hours / peak times motorcycles will be driving against traffic flow so you must be aware especially when making turns or you'll flatten one.
