  1. I received an interesting article from a contact of mine in France saying that DWP are contemplating going on line for 'proof of life' certification. https://www.connexionfrance.com/news/proof-of-life-certificates-may-go-online-for-uk-pensioners-in-france/104888
  2. That's one reason to follow @DrJack54's advice and wait until the next renewal. Use the old passport No. until then. Immigration are not aware that you have a new passport until you tell them. Visas and extensions are still valid even though they are in the old passport.
  3. You said that your reporting date was the 12th. Is that correct? Then why are you worrying about it? You've done your report correctly within the timeframe, so it's up to Immigration now. Sit back and enjoy Sunday.
  4. Well, I've read that 'theory' before on this forum. However if you read @transam's post from yesterday, it seems that the DWP do not get informed of a death in Thailand. At least not by the FCO. And it's not the first time I've heard of this happening either. Which is why I @3NUMBAS asked the question. I thought that maybe he knew something that we don't.
  5. And how do they get to know?
  6. It seems the AAIB have already blamed the manufacturer's of the helicopter for the crash. https://www.stewartslaw.com/news/helicopter-manufacturer-leonardo-could-have-averted-leicester-city-football-club-helicopter-disaster-says-concerning-air-safety-report/
  7. I'm trying to see the connection between me paying at the check out with a QR code or using my Truemoney wallet in 7/11 and someone trying on a scam against my UK bank account by phone.
  8. I disagree. Scams succeed due to the naivety of the victim. Fortunately the guys in this instance were not so naïve.
  9. I don't even answer calls anymore unless it's from a person known to me whose number my phone recognizes.
  10. There's very little burning is our area nowadays. Mechanization is taking over and burning is being discouraged. Plus we have no sugarcane around here, thank goodness. Right now though I can see that the whole country is suffering from a blanket cover of bad air.
  11. The prevailing wind across much of the country is from the north east and has been for a few days. It suggests that much of this pollution is being carried down from China. Even here in Sakon Nakhon we seeing unhealthy levels (147 AQI) and that's quite unusual for this area. Go to the link below and press play. https://www.weather-forecast.com/maps/Thailand?hr=3&over=pressure_arrows&symbols=cities.forecast.dots&type=wind
  12. Agreed. Boredom is a mindset, not a situation.
  13. You and seem to have arrived at the same place via different, but similar routes. I'm all for self help whenever possible. Nowadays I have embraced the Chinese approach to keep my back (and the rest of me) in good health. During an extensive stay in China I was impressed by the number of citizens, particularly the elderly, who were out in the parks every morning, practicing Tai Chi and Qigong. I practice Qigong myself, twice a day now and I'm still fit and healthy at 79 years. The Chinese have a saying which, paraphrased goes: 'A long, healthy life begins with a strong healthy back'.
  14. How do you know they rode on by? Smart motorcyclists, even moderately smart ones, don't brake on bends!
  15. You can read Amazon purchases 'in the cloud' on a Win 11 computer, using the 'Edge' browser. It does mean you have to be on line of course.
  16. The driver sits on the right and the car approached from the left. How flexible is your neck? Bearing in mind he should be looking where he is going as well.
  17. Six passengers in 2 door pick up authorized to carry only 2 people!
  18. Oh I do 'get it' In fact I'd got it before I even started my musing. The answer to my comment about the mind set on this forum is this: We are more important than them!
  19. Ok so I'll swing it around a bit. Last week a Thai family of 6 was wiped out in a pick up accident. That attracted just 2 posts! That was local news too and a whole lot more tragic than this one.
  20. Amazing isn't it. There have been more posts and pages in one day on this relatively minor incident than have been on the major disaster that took place in Korea 6 days ago. This post 14 pages 400 posts Disaster in Korea 12 pages 342 posts What does that say about the mind set of this forum I wonder.
  21. I'm just tossing in my two pennies worth, I've no interest in arguing the toss about it. T-I-T, what will be, will be.
  22. Thai Traffic Law Section 32 states: 'The driver shall be careful not to hit pedestrians and may use the horn if necessary. The driver shall be especially careful with children elderly persons and disabled persons'. The police will decide, of course whether the above applies. As is often said 'RTP, the finest police force money can buy'.
  23. No he won't do jail time. It will be a pay out to the bereaved family and a 'broker's fee' to the police. Job done.
