  1. In Bangkok my Thai relatives, recycle their plastic, cardboard, and other products. I have seen very little garbage that is not picked up or recycled. I did however see some garbage at one relatives apartment building. The majority of renters were young, and my sister in law, and brother in law, had to pick up quite a lot of garbage in the halls to keep the building in livable condition. They were also quite upset by the attitude of the young renters. There are good and bad people living all over the world.
  2. I have a few relatives who refused to get vaccinated, and now they are mad that if they go to the USA for a visit, they will have to quarantine. I have told them to grow up and get a jab or two. I also have had four relatives who died from COVID, before the vaccines were available. their younger wives survived with long COVID, and were even in the hospital on oxygen for a while. It is a good thing that the latest variants are not as deadly as the first three Alpha Beta and Delta strains or more people would still be dying. In my opinion, the side effects of vaccines are better than dying.
  3. What 3 people bitten, and they just want to give the dog to a new home, where it will likely just bite a few more people? This Is Thailand, for sure. In a lot of countries, this dog would be dead by now.
  4. Hey Maybe there is a place in the world where Donald Trump could be a President again. That is if this errrr King of Germany needs a President. Well in my opinion anyway.
  5. Ref the Tesla or any EV if you use the AC, you will not get the distance, the company says you will. I bet you will not get more than 3 quarters of the distance. In Canada, the same goes when in WInter. you need the heater on for the time you are driving. The cost of replacing the battery will be at least 1o thousand dollars, and check the tires on the Tesla, they are special as well. Do your home work, and a hybrid will always get you to what ever destination you want to get to as long as you keep petrol in the gas tank. Just saying. Harvey M
  6. Just make it official that if you are caught with more than say 30 days over stay, you will be deported and banned for 10 years. Even if you managed to marry a Thai woman and live in her house that you paid for. That may make people think a lot more before being this stupid. I have no sympathy for anyone who deliberately overstays, then gets caught.
  7. Someone is kidding, if you can afford to stay over 2 years, you could afford an extension. Seriously.
  8. I would have thought that most posters on this forum know what they have to do to stay in Thailand long term. This guy is only in his 60s, so why did he not just renew his visa? Now he gets deported and blacklisted at least for a few years. I hope he has learned a lesson.
  9. COVID, with its variants have been around about 3 years, and have killed at least 6.4 million people so far. People are also dying of countless other reasons as well as suicides, but that is a bit different now is it not? KN95 masks and N95 masks do protect you from many things as well as airborne diseases. Pollution for example, and colds and flues, but some posters are so against masks that they will say anything to keep from having to wear them. For those people grow up. The vaccines may not protect us from getting COVID, but at least I did not die, when I contracted the Omicron variant and was sick for 10 days. Life will go on , thankfully with most countries not having lock downs. Carry on People.
  10. That was reference to the Air Canada direct flight Canada to Thailand. Oops
  11. Bangkok to Vancouver, with a tail wind is the 13 hours for the flight. The typical time is about 16 hours for flight against the wind Vancouver to Bangkok. Harvey M
  12. Well I hear that the vodka is still fairly cheap in Russia. At his age Eddie will likely be able to learn to speak passable Russian as well.
  13. Yup I have been to this view point a few times, it has 2 ways to get to, but one way has a fairly steep grade to climb the hill to get to the view point. The view puts the city to the west, while Khao Takiab, view is looking north to the city. The sign to the view point is not too big, but it is also on the maps of Hua Hin, so a lot of people actually do know about it.
  14. Well in the 3 years that COVID has existed, over at least 6.5 million people have died. However there are still some who refer COVID to a flu. I have to wonder what the real number of people in China have died from all the variants of COVID. The long time effects of COVID have not all been figured out. Why,? Because it has only been around for three years.
  15. Even if this is used only 6 months per year. I like the idea, as with all the lost luggage stories, if your suitcase gets on at Vancouver there is a big chance it will reach Bangkok. I will try it at least once to see how the experience goes.
  16. Sorry but China, is not available right now, something about a nasty lockdown. Try again in 2024. Maybe the world economy will be better by then, ha! Good thing that Thailand is a tropical country, and a lot of people around the world like to escape Winter and go to tropical countries.
  17. Maybe the Russian jets get maintenance while at Thailand. Anyone think about that. I just hope that the war in Ukraine is over soon. That of course would mean the end of Putin's rule over Russia.
  18. Good job to the RTP. I will never support any place that stays open beyond the legal hours.
  19. Justin Trudeau would not be in power if the LDP party leader, Jagmeet Singh did not support him. The, What If, PM is very arrogent, and is hopefully voted out during the next election. Yes I am Canadian, and do not like this guy, any more than the Thais like their present PM/GM. Enuff Said.
  20. Canadians speak Canadian, since we do not use English words like Windscreen, Bonnet, Boot, Alu minium. We have wind shields, hoods, trunks, and aluminum. There are other very British English that we have heard, but do not speak as well. I am lucky that I have quite a few Thai relatives who speak very good English, much better than my poor attempt at Thai. Considering the wages of a lot of Thai people, they cannot afford the good English teachers in every school or after school classes.
  21. What expat posters always seem to forget. Thais mostly have jobs, where if they do not show up to work they do not get paid. It would be wonderful if the retired people on this forum would remember that fact. It would also be appreciated if the younger posters on this forum would also know of this fact. Enough said. Carry on.
  22. I hope the variant of COVID is figured out and the public told what it is that killed these people. I thought that the Omicron and later variants were weaker.
  23. If this woman was replaced by some guy who had a stolen or home made police uniform, well yes good luck . I hope that there was some DNA that survived the blast, but I would doubt, there would be any of that. I feel sorry for the people who have to live with this situation every day, and for the people killed in this attack, especially for the children.
  24. Well I hope the long time accountant to Donald Trump keeps singing like a bird until the Donald gets to see what a jail cell looks like. I guess we will all see just how good or great the US legal system works. I wonder if this will affect the mass of supporters of Trump?
  25. Don't we all love word spell check. It screws up many of my typed letters or posts because the word week does exist and so does weed. This news story gave me a laugh though, just because some people have thought that they could do anything now that weed has been legalized, sort of. Being too high though does not help situations.
