When I first obtained my ME Tourist Visa back in the early 2000's I would stay in Phuket for 2 months then leave for three and then return for two more. I bought a click from a guy who rented them out for 15k Thb, cheaper then renting over the long term. When I would leave and head back to the US I would leave the bike at a friends place who worked for a Muay Thai camp. It worked out great. Kept the bike for 2 years and then sold it to another guy training Muay Thai for 10K as he was on a 1 year Fight Visa. I had my US DL and an IDP when I bought the bike, the guy had connections at DLT and did all of the registration paperwork for me. He had over 30 bikes he rented at the time and also had a hotel where fighters stayed.

You are pretty correct on the totality of tourism being very slow in bouncing back. All of the folks who said that those of us who posted this many times over the past year were just not correct and restated that it would beat the expectations of many by years end last year, and then again by years end this year. In my view it will be probably 2024 before we see it tick upward. Those folks who berated us have been pretty silent on these OPs. Sure Bangkok's nightlife has seemed to pick back up, but then that is only on the weekends. When we were down in Hua Hin at our house there, it was only on the weekend, and over the holiday weekends when it seemed almost back to normal, yet quiet as hell other times.

I am 57 now and I get told I look like I am 45 by folks. Many ask me what I do for work and when I tell them I am retired, they look shocked and say how can you have retired already, you look to be about 45. When I tell them my age they think I am lying. It is called good genetics, as I have no wrinkles on my face or forehead.

I felt the same that it would be years before prices increased here and so I bought my Villa house here in southern Hua Hin/Pranburi while still maintaining my condo in BKK. 10Mthb buys a nice property.

I am here in Thailand, and not elsewhere, so I speak of only this country. How many of these attacks are carried out by foreigners, non Thai men, here versus Thai men. Sure it is a problem elsewhere but then we are in Thailand. Now if you believe it is bashing those Thai men that commit these crimes that can not walk away and leave the jealousy behind them, well then I do not know how I can help you with the perception the daily reports create.
