The Thai Elite Visa holders are not better off IMHO for these reasons: 1: Annually the holders of an Elite Visa, if they do not leave the country, still have to pay 1900 baht at the end of their 1 year stay to get another entry stamp good for another year. An LTR Visa holder is stamped into the country for a 5 year period and does not have to ever leave in order to avoid the 1 year stay stamp the TE Visa holders need to do. 2: TE Visa holders must still do 90 day reports. 3: The annual cost for an LTR Visa is only 5k Thb for the year, while the Thai Elite Visas run from the cheapest 5 year visa costing an individual 600,000 Thai baht for a five-year visa which means they pay 120,000 baht per year or 10,000 baht per month. So the LTR Visa is much cheaper overall. 4: Both Visas allow for Fast Track services at the airport and multiple re-entry. So unless one avails themselves to the higher end TE Visa and golfs religiously and leaves the country annually, they are actually worse off in my view.

How much do the average Thai person earn ?
ThailandRyan replied to Baron Samedi's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Read the title then read each of the OP's sections and tell me where the majority of people, that's the majority of Thai people fall into those categories. Very few are in the upper band he asked about so when you talk about the average Thai you talk about those in the middle class and the bottom class, very very few in the top. So when you discuss what an average Thai makes the monetary issue becomes quite apparent, yet you and a few other believe most Thais make more than 6ok Thb a month. My view of course but being realistic I am an not arrogant. -

Finding teaching work in Bangkok -how to do it?
ThailandRyan replied to Deserted's topic in Teaching in Thailand Forum
You are correct on that one Ageism is alive and well. Additionally, they do not seem to want a person over 50 who has been disability retired either. Many rejections for Supervisory/Management positions as I was either to old, or at a second glance they found I was medically retired due to many work related disabilities. -

There is no true Chinese tourism to Thailand, President for life XI and his zero covid policy have seen to that. Those coming into the country are coming from outside of the mainland. -
It makes life easier for us in the long run having the new LTR Visa we have, no need to worry about 90 days, freedom to travel in and out and tax exempt status for our money which we earned elsewhere. Truly affluent folks are investing money elsewhere in order to obtain the citizenship that is granted along with the investment, something Thailand will never give to any of us no matter how long we live here as there are to many rules associated with gaining PR and so on.

Thai Tax on Foreign Pensions
ThailandRyan replied to nigelforbes's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Your pension income is not being earned in the same year as you are transferring it to your account here, or they are depositing it here for you. This is also a lifetime pension granted to you based upon your disability and funded based upon the agreement with you at the time they disability retired you and offered you the amount you are receiving. -

Are pension payments not made from money vested into a pension fund from years before while employed and disbursed after a person retires? That is your answer, as the money was earned prior to the year brought into Thailand. -

Working for XI in a counter espionage way to ruin Thailand's stellar reviews in the world as a true family destination. -
The poster you quoted has some kind of agenda be it dual pricing elsewhere etc. He always talks about what it costs elsewhere in the west to retire, golf, holiday etc. as he feels that anyone discussing Thailand's proposals as idiotic is a bash, so he bashes everywhere else (like the west) to try and even out the playing field.

I am sure the link is the Karaoke bar that was raided and operated by Chinese and the majority of clients were Chinese. Watching the news now. What a twisted story. Apparently it is very big news in China. Here is another OP running and I will bet there is a link between the two stories as I wrote above. https://tna.mcot.net/english-news-1045142

1 Rai for 40 million, sounds like a bargain, oh wait, I bought 5 rai and built a house on it for a total of 4.5 Mthb 10 years ago. Of course the land is in my Thai daughters name and the house has a lifetime usufruct on it, but hey anyone who wants to buy it I will sell it to you for the 40 Mthb, a nice profit to be made........for my daughter that is....any takers.

Thaksin blames Gen. Prawit for the Tak Bai massacre
ThailandRyan replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Exactly, and as soon as he left the country for a UN meeting he was deposed by a coup. So all of those who committed the coup at that time should be responsible and have resigned as well -

Perfectly acceptable in the Philippines under Duterte yet it was wrong here. I believe at the time the war on drugs was going on in many places. -
That is awesome @Misty. This means that you will not have to change any flights, and you will enter the country all set. Congratulations. I asked another friend who had applied for the digital work permit as well and he said it was still being worked on and he was told that he could work without it. That in itself sounds a little scary to me. Since I do not need one it is unfortunately not a priority for me, however by next year after I marry my partner in the states, I will be applying for the follow-on portion of my visa and she will need the digital work permit.
