Children in California Subjected to Antisemitic Violence: Lawsuit
They could have made a poster about Mohammed instead. Then there wouldn't be any problems.

EVA air warning
I flew BKK-LHR with Eva about a month ago. One suitcase was 23.1kg and the other was over 24kg but they let it go. They didn't even ask about my backpack which was over 8kg when I weighed it at home. Also, I booked BKK-LHR-NCL with trip.com and was informed that I would have to self-transfer my suitcases from T2 to T5 at LHR. At check-in they said no problem we can send them straight to NCL. Thank god as the transfer from T2 to T5 was horrendous even without suitcases. ☹️ The flight was less than half full though. Got a whole 3 seats to myself 😊

Racist ICE Agent Kills American Citizen
So a man is firing an assault rifle into the air to celebrate new year. A neighbour tells him to stop but the man shoots at him 3 times. The neighbour then shot him in self defense. What does this have to do with race or the neighbour's job? 🤔

Andrew’s £15m mansion sale tied to Kazakh oligarch funds
All of this overshadows the real crime. That the British royal family (Germans) are the descendents of kings and queens that stole the land that rightfully belongs to the British people.

International money transfer via the SCB EASY App
I've just completed the process today and it was very easy. Went to the bank today to register my face. Pretty busy as it's the first day after the long holiday but not too bad. The app asks for a lot of unnecessary information like home country and address in Thailand which they already know. The receiving bank's name has to be entered manually so I just wrote HALIFAX. There was a scary dropdown menu regarding the source of income / reason for transfer. There were only 3 options which were 'portfolio investment', 'income from work' and 'real estate purchase' although I'm not sure of the exact wording. I chose 'income from work' as it's effectively the money I sent here while working in China. The face scan took about 5 or 6 attempts. Half of the failures were due to the exchange rate changing. Also, it was done after dark so maybe more effective in daylight. 🤔 I sent 250k THB and the rate was about 50 satang above the mid-market rate. Not too shabby though as the baht is very strong ATM. I was expecting the fee to be the maximum (฿400) but it was only ฿99. A slip was generated for the transfer which stated that it was in progress and could take up to 5 business days to the US and 2 business days / immediate for other countries; it took less than 5 minutes 🙂

What Movies or TV shows are you watching (2025)
Just coming to the end of it now. Most of the jokes are cringeworthy except Jimmy Carr's rare appearances, as you said. Good attempt at bringing back the old British farce but it's too dated. It might work better in a crowded cinema but those days are gone.

Boycott Calls Grow After Hindu Statue Damage Near Thai Border
Well done again Thailand. You're fighting wars with 3 of the 4 countries that border your country. Don't worry, you'll win them all. Just like every student wins at school.

Algeria Declares French Colonisation a Crime, Demands Apology
I suggest that Algeria pays reparations to Europe for the millions enslaved by the Arab / Ottoman empires and the Barbary Pirates. Then they can talk Turkey with France 🤔

New rules issued for visa extensions and visa-exempt entries
Don't know if we can talk turkey on here. I originally contacted them over a month ago and was given a price. Contacted them a month later and the price was a grand cheaper. Once passport ID page had been submitted and checked I saved another monkey 🙂

It's relevant to those living abroad without telling HMRC. The update to the act classes the UK state pension as a benefit.

Moving to Thailand with household… your experience or advice
Some airlines offer generous baggage allowance (2 x 23kg) even in economy class. I'm leaving Thailand at the end of next month and am struggling to fill the 2nd suitcase 🙂 Obviously large furniture items like sofas and wardrobes need to be shipped. From memory, I believe that partial / full containers can be shipped here tax free if you have the right visa. Maybe other BMs can provide further details 🤔

Beauty Queen's Eye-Slant Gesture Sparks Backlash Across Asia

Brexit Reversal: UK Returns to Erasmus Student Programme
As a supporter of Brexit, I think this is a good move. Leaving the EU allows us to pick and choose which parts we want and don't want. The ERASMUS scheme is a good way for young British people to experience working in another country / culture. We have a similar deal with Australia without the need for political union 😊

UK digital ID cards - how would it affect expats in Thailand?
All this talk of digital ID is just a back door way of introducing national ID cards AKA Tony Blair's wet dream. Legal immigrants already have one through the e-visa system (formerly Biometric residence permit) and have to provide biometric data for such; photo and fingerprints. Same for asylum seekers. As for the UK state pension and uplift payments, I won't get mine for 20 years. We'll likely be living in a cashless society by then with all payments digitally tracked so no way to circumvent the system 🙃
