Thailand’s tourism trunkated: Captive elephant breeding exposed
Thingamabob replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
When I first arrived in Thailand in the early 60s I thought I was visiting a Buddhist country. It came as a shock, therefore, to see the majority of Thai people eating animais, and the widespread mistreatment of various captive species. -
30 approx elite families, and a cabal of senior Thai military. They have allowed Thaksin to return, and to avoid penal justice, on the condition that he gives full backing to their best interests. Should he fail to do so he will be gone, just as he was previously.

You have been formally advised to visit your nearest immigration office immediately. I suggest you do so.

Foreign Man Throws Glass At A Thai Woman In A Dog Cafe
Thingamabob replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
I'm 82, and I find this rather feeble. -
Having been a party animal most of my life at 82 I now find all the local attractions easier to resist. If you can survive into old age your temptation problem will fade.

Kicking harmless people in their back is not acceptable under any circumstances. Personally I would like to see this Swiss thug deported, but he apparently has the means to buy his way out of the situation he has created. The fact is his behaviour is bad news for the reputation of all Westerners living in Thailand.

Retirement Visa Extension
Thingamabob replied to Negita43's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Obtained my last retirement extension, based on permanent 800k bank deposit in my name only, at CW in December. I presented, with copies, my SCB bank book, updated the previous day, my bank confirmation letter, also dated the previous day (ie not the day of application), and my passport, plus the additional forms regarding penalties etc. now required by Immigration. As with all my previous applications no other details/forms were requested. I was in at 0830, given appointment no.16, and out by 0930, with no hassle. -

Standing up to the rowdy Russians.
Thingamabob replied to bob smith's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
While you believe your fearsome appearance resulted in the Russians leaving, they may well have departed for other reasons. I have lived and worked with Russians at different times in my career, and I would advise caution on this issue. -
Almost denied on entry
Thingamabob replied to shdmn's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Waivers are not automatically given. You were unwise to assume that they were. Personally, from 1962 onwards, I have never ever had any problem with the Thai immigration authority. Given the apparent depth of your anger over this you are right to be considering other countries in which to reside. A word of warning though, if you didn't already know it, immigration authorities are awkward to deal with almost everywhere. -
Thailand escapes ‘not free’ label despite election chaos

Utterly ridiculous. No mention of the shafting of the winning party after the last election. -
Chon Buri apartment owner battles raucous bars in neighbourhood

If she had fully researched that area before investing time and money in it she would have learned that in pre-covid times it had always been an entertainment district. -
Aged 82, every morning an hour split between time on a treadmill, with weights, and stretchng exercises. Much the same each day for over 60 years.
