Thingamabob replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
This is about how foreigners behave when abroad. In this case it appears to have been a Brit. Hopefully he will be caught and deported. -

Tourists behaving badly told to smarten up or stay home!

Ridiculous comment. -
Depends entirely on how you want to live, as it does in any country. If you want to stay in top hotels/ apartments and eat western food it will not be cheap.

I am told you can use the yellow book and pink ID card for reporting online, so worth a try. You will find the pink ID card more useful generally than is indicated on this forum. I have used it, inter alia, when entering certain buildings, when identifying myself to the police, and at my local hospital.

Europe's Far-Right Groups Launch Campaign for EU Elections
Thingamabob replied to Social Media's topic in World News
These groups are mainly centre right, not far right. They are concerned about the breakdown of law and order in their countries following the relaxation of immigration controls. -
Drunk Chinese national causes extensive damage in a Bangkok hotel

Ignorant rubbish. Weed induces calm, not violence. This case is more likely one involving alcohol and crystal meth. -
Five Arrested in Patong Stabbing of British Man
Thingamabob replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
As others have said, in that area at 4.40 in the morning there is a lot of potential for trouble, mainly down to alcoholic excess. -
Too early to say. Thaksin is behind the proposal to re-criminalize. As he has done in the past he may have over-estimated his importance in the Thai hierarchy. Many top people heve invested in the cannabis business recently.

Thailand's reversal on cannabis serves as a warning
Thingamabob replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Misleading headline. It's not yet a reversal. I note that the USA is today relaxing reguiatory control of cannabis use, bringing it into line with sevaral orher western countries. Sensible and civilised. Hopefully Thailand will take note. -

He became "jaded" after tipping
Thingamabob replied to georgegeorgia's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Feeling bored by something you once enjoyed is being jaded, it has nothing to do with tipping. -
Ladyboy duo nabbed for stealing gold necklace from Indian tourist
Thingamabob replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
Many years ago I lost a gold ring to a guy who introduced himself to me with a hand-shake on a beach in Rayong. I only realiized it had gone after he had disappeared. Lesson learned... -
Weed users are not riff-raff. They are made up of all types ranging from backpackers to well-off residents. Anyway, whatever your background, make the best of it while you can. It appears the civilized move to relax regulations is about to be snuffed out by Thaksin's people. Cannabis will soon be back into the hands of gangsters , sadly.
