  1. At 83 years old, much the same. Early morning exercise, followed by domestic tasks which I am able to tackle. Afternoons, word games/ crosswords, evenings, movies and sports on TV.
  2. Will the Maldives ban Muslim holders of Israeli passports ?
  3. However, if they go after billionaires they will be attacking the very people who have the power to bring them, the govt, down.
  4. In over 40 years I have never been asked how I am supporting myself (financially, that is). Are you saying that will now become a standard question ?
  5. Your headline is misleading, again. Nothing has yet been agreed, let alone legally approved, regarding tax changes.
  6. You may well be right, and I hope you are. My fear is that this is a shabby govt grubbing about for additional revenue sources, but also not wanting to upset influential, well-off Thais. They are therefore trying to hit foreigners first. On the other hand this govt could just be thrown out before too long in which case the revised tax legislation may go on hold, or be dropped entirely.
  7. Who is 'They' ? The Thai government is more than one unit, obviously.
  8. If this ever becomes a reality the Thai immigration authority will stand to lose a large part of it's income as a result of the departure from Thailand of many foreign residents who will no longer be applying for annual extensions of stay costing 1,900 baht.
  9. ...and ensure the escapee from Dubai never again has any say in Thai politics, whether formal or informal.

  11. No, I will not return to the UK. A long time ago I decided to live and die in Thailand subject, of course, to my being permitted to stay here by the immigration authority.
  12. A lot will depend on the outcome of an appeal against the verdict/ verdicts.
  13. Near to my house. Building looks a mess, but the location is prime, within walking distance of both the underground and skytrain, buses, two top shopping centres, and Chatuchak park.
  14. Yes indeed. Thailand is idolaltrous, not Buddhist.
  15. The headline appears to have nothing to do with the article that follows it, again.
