  1. Not strange at all. The French have invested heavily in nuclear power stations. The UK, on the other hand, has neither invested significantly in nuclear, nor fully exploited it's own plentiful natural fuel resources.
  2. I wonder who finds this funny.
  3. My UK State pension has been frozen since I retired to Thailand in 1993. I have a attended meetings in the house of commons at which the unfairness of the freeze has been discussed. We are always met with kind words but nothing ever changes. I fear this will be the position into the foreseeable future given that successive UK governments are desperate for money.
  4. For generations Thailand has been known internationally as an easy-going country regarding sexual preferences. I doubt the new legislation will make much difference to the numbers of tourists arriving here. What has changed, however, is the profile of foreign visitors who now appear to be mainly from China and India, with less coming from Europe and the USA. It is unclear to me why the Thai government has encouraged this trend.
  5. They will be coming here in droves..
  6. They will be coming here in droves..
  7. We Brits really need to stop moaning. We voted Labour in with a huge majority. For the next 5 years, maybe more, we are going to pay the price. No one to blame but ourselves.
  8. As a boring old man myself I can only think they have nothing better to do. That's assuming their postings are not fake...
  9. Oh dear. I fear my home country, the UK, is heading for deep trouble...
  10. Once again the little man is being punished while the big players are left free. Best to stop the never- ending 'drug wars' and control, regulate and tax.
  11. ....and yet many of us foreigners feel that currently neither our presence nor our money is welcomed in Thai government circles.
  12. Fact is he was born a man and will remain a man no matter what lengths he goes to in order to try to effect a change.
  13. As I said, rather pathetic.
  14. Agreed. The problem is that the jungles are being gradually taken over by people.
  15. No joke. I took hope the elephant is ok after the disgusting way it was being treated.
  16. Not really. I was born in Sutton Coldfield, UK in 1941. During WW2 my father fought in the north Africa campaign and his brother, my uncle, in the Burma campaign. Post-war we had German POWs working for us both on land, and in factories in nearby Birmingham. So no direct experience of Nazi brutality, but contact with both those who commited it and with those who fought against it.
  17. I doubt you are old enough to know what a Nazi is.
  18. You completely missed the point of my question. I will try again. What is the difference between, as you call it, ILLEGAL corruption, and LEGAL corruption ? If this is too difficult for you forget about it. Not important.
  19. What does legal corruption look like ?
  20. Freddy Mercury, the greatest of all time...
  21. Makes sense, although the net zero enthusiasts will be upset.
