All too common occurrence, not only here. Still, it’s odd that the OP turned up in the first place.

The algorithm could have played a part plus it is a public holiday here today and fares invariably go up. re discounts on Grab Unlimited: Food deliveries 50 free delivery vouchers, Mart 20 free delivery vouchers, Transport and GrabExpress 2 vouchers each to a maximum of 100฿ ea. The monthly fee will be 19฿ once the trial period has ended. However, it’s not clear what deliveries are free. I just looked on McDonalds and they weren’t free but a Thai takeaway was. These are both approx 4.5 km from me.

I did that before signing up today. My normal Grab Car ride from supermarket to home is 74฿ and this is what the system quoted this morning. But, once I’d signed up with Grab Unlimited the fare rose to 78฿ and the system congratulated me on receiving a 10% discount that reduced the fare to 70฿. Currently, my offer is a free 4-month trial. Given my frequent usage of food deliveries and Grab Mart services, I believe it's worth giving it a shot. It's worth noting, however, that the program only includes two transport discounts per month.

Timing of the responses Exactly!

Worse than that, many, possibly most, don’t even live in Thailand.

It seems a tremendous deal. A concern is that there could be a catch somewhere along the line. One has to be vigilant. But the current offer looks like it’s worth taking: https://www.grab.com/th/en/grabunlimited/

I realise you’re joking. However, it does seem that a substantial number of graduates are working at 7-11. -
You’re not wrong, he’s back under a moniker beginning with B. Already made over 500 posts since joining on March 11th.

What's life like for a single older expat in isaan?
ArnieP replied to georgegeorgia's topic in Isaan
Udon Thani has a considerable number of elderly single men (of which I’m one). Many are seen daily in restaurant/bars either with regular drinking pals or sat nursing a beer on their own. A poster who joined here only last month and seems very like Sparktrader has posted a lot of wrong information about Udon. Rooftop bars and restaurants for instance? I’ve lived in Udon Thani for ten years and never seen one. Udon’s a small city enclosed within a ring road and there’s very little of interest to expats. It’s urban, not picturesque and is largely devoid of culture and entertainment apart from some kinos and two small bar areas. Most of the colourful entertainment got closed by the military in January 2015. -
Some buses are free in Bangkok. What number are they?
ArnieP replied to Goodboybkk's topic in Bangkok
Some people are money conscious, broke, tight-fisted, or just plain stingy. The OP’s query might be for reasons other than impecunity, who knows? -
+1 To be in Thailand without money is terminal :(

Air Coolers, does it work ?(the one where you add water and ice)
ArnieP replied to renegade2000's topic in General Topics
I have one, a PanWorld PW-868 purchased from a stall within Big C. It works and does reduce the room temperature and emit cold air for a while, depending on the ambient temperature. The water requires frequent topping up, a litre lasts around a half-hour but I put 3 or 4 litres in it. No point in putting ice in it (or ice packs) as it just melts. The biggest issue is noise, it roars. Quite a good contraption which does help in hot weather but don’t expect aircon type temperatures. A big plus is it doesn’t need plumbing in or needing a concertina flexi pipe out the window. You just plug it in and power on. -
Heaven forbid but he’s done it before.

The OP knows it’s 66, he explained his error a number of posts back. -
You’re probably right. I’m in Isaan in Udon Thani.

There are unfortunately a number of people, albeit a small number, that have the hump with Lazada. Quite often they didn’t read or grasp what the deals were and then throw a wobbler when things don’t turn out the way they (wrongly) anticipated. re delivery costs: when Lazada started in Thailand around 7 years ago delivery was free. After about 6 months delivery fees came in. Currently it seems almost all regular purchases are 38฿.

A YouTube search for ‘Beach Road Pattaya today’ may prove instructive.

Nanker: doing a Nanker was the act of sticking two fingers up one’s nostrils, creating a primate effect. Phelge: was a pseudonym for a bloke named Les who managed a musical instrument shop in West London. He was a printer before that and lived with the Stones in Chelsea. Phelge (not his real name) was known in their flat for having distasteful personal habits. Les, under the pseudonym James Phelge, wrote a book ‘Nankering with The Stones’ some years ago. Stepney was a rough part of town down in the docks area in 1964. It’s part of Tower Hamlets now, still downmarket in parts.
