  1. Shutting down your ridiclous gaslighting before you attempted it... ... But, you know that already... 'deliberately playing' dumb for a change.
  2. Valid point on regarding 'what if its a present'..... If in Bangkok there is the option of sourcing direct from the Apple Store... and walking out with an unopened box. If outside of Bangkok, ordering online is the option - but yes, it takes about a week. I can understand if people want to walk out with an 'unoppened box' and do the checks and set up 100% themselves from scratch... the obvious response is if this is a show stopper, just walk away.
  3. Perhaps, like a poster on this forum, he should have been able to self evaulate after drinking 10-12 beers and drive more 'carefully' ????
  4. Indeed... Sometimes its difficult to see these crossing when splitting traffic... But... when riding a motorcycle and all other vehicle have stopped - any rider with a sense of defensive riding also stops, who knows why the car traffic has stopped so its taking a huge risk to continue on past at speed... this is a perfect example of Thai Riding (and often driving)... where observation is somewhat lacking. There is also the cultural facet were stopping is often the last resort for most driving and riding - thus I'd agree with those, who in other threads have suggested that all Pedestrian Crossing should be 'controlled by traffic lights'.... I know the example of the light controlled pedestrian crossings in Pattaya will be used and that everyone ignores the lights anyway (even police)... But really, this is a measure of how uncivilised a location can be - the Police really should be held to greater account for doing their job.
  5. Legally.... However, in the interest of self preservation she could have at least looked. Thats not to victim blame, of course... 100% the motorcylist - legally at fault. However, those who walk around, not only in Thailand, but even in Western Countries such as the UK without any regard for their own safety can hold themselves personally complicit if they are hit by something because they were not paying attention.
  6. Thats a very good point - I've seen witnessed this as a form of sarcasm in Thailand... .... I think the Thai's call it 'killing someone softly' or some variation of such...
  7. Did you step in or just turn a blind eye? Yawn... Gaslighting. - Answer 1: I ignored him - Gives you the amunition to call me a weak hyporcite. - Answer 2: I stepped in and gave him a kicking - Gives you the amunition to call me a voilent thug. - Answer 3: I refered the issue to the police - Give you the amunition to call me a grass - Answer 4: I refered the issue to police friends - Give you the amunition to accusme me of 'bragging' about contacts. Reality though - I didnt nothing... because I was told this info by others and I was no longer in the area or had any contact. - this gives you the amunition to accusme me beleiving rumours... either way, you'll attempt to shoe-horn a pathetic attempt to turn the comment around...
  8. Scrolling up the page an issue for you Ralf ??? Here... in bold too !!!.... hows that reading comprihension coming along ?
  9. I also knew of a Brit, in Songkhla who, about 20 years ago killed someone while DUI... I don't think he did any Jail time either... but I think it cost him..... ... he was a nasty character, aslo smacked around his missus...
  10. You love that word karan when someone is not in agreement with your comments and behavior - its lost its effectiveness as a point scoring mechanism - try harder. You think anyone would admit on here to killing someone while DUI ?... perhaps you will if it happens. And.. as pointed out - the poll is tainted with your agenda and has not provided a balanced option... (as repeatedly pointed out)... Agreed - I've highlighted its possible I have also driven over the limit in the past given my 'recent' observation and research on this issue in this thread. If you want to project that and judge that I drink drive regularly, thats your projection, but rather hypocritical from someone who drink drives regularly after 10-12 beers... Claiming the moral high ground here is an extreme stretch. However, for your reference: I cant remember the last time I had two can's of beer and drove, its years ago... but I admit that it has happend and is possible I may have been over the limit given new information - though, as pointed out, I tested with the BiB (at a bar event) and after two beers blew under... Yet, from here on in - I'll not be driving anywhere after more than a beer... there's no need, Wife drives, or in Bangkok I can take a taxi everywhere when going out without the Wife. There's the very real risk of that happening at any time.... Its why I have fwd and rear facing dash-cams on both my car and my motorcycle.... But it won't be because I've been drinking or driving reckelessly... Impossibe to predict of coure, but IF such situation were to occur, its likely an unavoidable incident such as a motorcyclist pulling out without looking and not wearing a helmet etc... but who knows... But with certainty I'll not be DUI if anything like that were to happen... You cannot state the same.
  11. Just more Harris-like Word Salad.... Or, was this your intention? Here you go... I’d have assumed that someone so relentlessly self-promoted as an intellectual would grasp the post without requiring further explanation. But, alas, comprehension is apparently too lofty a goal for you - here's a simpler version for your comprihension... ....People everywhere are the same in some ways, but they do things differently. For example, some people from different cultures don’t understand joking in a mean way, called sarcasm. They take it as real and don’t like it. --------- On a separate note, while I do appreciate the 'Harris-like Word Salad' remark - an amusing insult - I remain perpetually baffled by how you Americans manage to wedge politics into even the most unrelated of conversations. It’s as if your national pastime is the art of irrelevant political tangents. Truly impressive, in the most bemusing sense of the word.
  12. When selecting my user name on ThaiVisa.com, I purposefully opted for ‘Richard,’ fully aware that a handful of predictably dull-witted individuals might seize the opportunity to flex their intellectual poverty by snidely referring to me as ‘Dick.’ To my mild astonishment, most of those with whom I don't always agree have managed to resist the temptation, sparing themselves the embarrassment of revealing just how lacking in originality they truly are. Yet, there are always a few who, bereft of wit and imagination, inevitably fall into that pit of mediocrity. Congratulations on confirming precisely what I suspected of you !!!
  13. Read again when you sober up... though not on your phone while driving !
  14. However, while there exists the unifying bond of 'humanity', divergent cultural norms manifest themselves in subtle yet significant ways, such as the reception of sarcasm. In these cultural contexts, sarcasm is often interpreted literally, stripping it of its intended nuance and rendering it unwelcome.
  15. thanks, saved me reading it I read it... and it reinforces my opinion not to use budget airlines... In a 'somewhat' similar issue with Thai Airways... my Wife had less than 6 months remaining on her passport when we were flying to Japan... the check-in staff picked up on this and said my Wife could not travel due to this... After speaking with a supervisor we signed a waver that absolved the Airline of responsibility if my Wife was rejected entry in Japan based on this technicality (no issues). Thus: Air Aisa 'could' have allowed the Op to sign such a waver if they wanted to... But, I find Budget Airlines staff to be the opposite of service minded when an obstacle pops up... Though the Op still took his flight - there was no need for this issue. That said: Thai Airways have been difficult in the past... when they used to demand to see the credit card used to purchase the ticket - I recall our card had expired by the time of travel and we had a new one, so while the card was the same account, we hit a brick wall with the staff who argued that it was a different card number and thus a different card !!.. Sometiems the staff at Airlines can be difficult - that little bit of decisin making power and turn some of them into power trippers (particularly in Europe).
  16. I've been Gold with Both Emirates and Qatar... Flown regularly in both business class and Eco... Qatar Q-Suites wins hands down, no brainer... Otherise, if is not a Q-Suite flight, then Emirates beds are more comfortable as they add thin (about 1") materess which makes a difference to the comfort. BUT... and this is a big but... Its not uncommon for Qatar Airways change their planes last minute.. and when you think you have a Q-Suite you get 'gazumpped' with the standard Business class seats, which are no worse than Emirates - but you don't get the thin mattress thingy.... As another poster mentioned... check the routing, as Q-Suites definately make a big difference - when booking / searching with the Qatar Website it tells you whether the flight has Q-Suites or not. Another point: When comfortably sleeping (with a little medicinal aid) you only get a bout 5 hours sleep (max) and thats going without the meal etc... So... that may be taken into consideration... If you are in no rush - taking a layover is a favoured option of mine... fly into Dubai or Doha on a day flight... get an over night hotel near the airport... (less than 24 hour layover so the bags go throgh automatically)... then wake up the next morning fresh, got to the airport an hour before the flight, no need to check in (as you already have a boarding pass) and go stright to the gate.... (check-in in Dubai and Doha is extremly quick as most passengers are transit). Doha is also a better airport - its newer and less crowded (IMO). Lounges are good at both Airports - perhaps Doha lounges 'edge it'...
  17. I agree with this... Dry humor is often lost, but I've met Thai people with dry humor, but I think it works in a different way than 'our dry humor' which is usually accompanied with an element of sarcasm... My Wife hates it.... She'll be driving... we'll be on a long road, with no turns in sight and she'll ask "which way?".. I'll reply, turn left here..... ... and as soon as I've opened my mouth I know I've made a mistake as she's no pi$$ed off with me for being sarcastic !!! The most amusing was when I went for a fertility test (when we were trying for a child)... I had to go to the hosptial w@nking room... but before I did, a nurse gave me a little plastic cup... and asked.. .. "How many times have you erm... " .... "erm, what" .. "How many times have you erm... finished" .... "I finished breakfast already" .. "No, I mean How many times have you erm... " .... "erm, what" (at this point I know I'm going to hell). .. "How many times have you... er... finished, er finished for baby" .... "oh, you mean, how many times have I ejaculated ?" [palpablie relief on the nurses face] ... "Yes" .... "This month or this week?" [relief on the nurses face dissapears] .. "in the last 24 hours" .... "ah, ok... 6 times yesterday evening and 3 times this morning" (I'm definately going to hell). [Nurse then writes the numbers in a little book]... the sarcasm completely lost... but, my evil inner me is chuckling and my wife is embarrased...
  18. Sarcasm from strangers is difficult to detect without 'expression' which is why using 'emojis' often helps in text...
  19. I've read that is about 10,000 baht for 4.0ml (1.0ml injected weekly)... and it surpresses the apatite and also apparently reduces vesceral fat.... so it can have benefits for some. As you pointed out, I've also read that when you stop using the medication the weight comes back on becasue the appetite returns. But, I beleive there is a habitual facet to the drug: As it also surpressed the apetite it can help people in changing their eating habits. Its easy enough for people to make flippant remarks such as exercise more or eat less, but thats difficult for some. The reason I researched this drug is due to injury - after being extremely ative for all of my life, the impact of competetive sports has paid its price and I've spent the last 15months recovering from injuries and surgeries... The combination of age (into late 40's), slowing metabolism, combined with being far less active has meant that weight gain was very easy... and I think its diffucult to manage keeping the weight off without being extremely strict... ... Hardly eating is not much fun when you are used to eating whatever you want when you want- but thats what it takes. - The swimming suggestion is also a good suggestion (from an exercise point of view) but when you are used to playing football 3x per week, swimming is boring - but thats what it takes combined with eating less, then thats what it takes... but again, I understand how difficult that is for some when they've not had to control their diet and their habitual process is diffierent. Thus: From a habit forming point of view - I saw potential in this drug and can see the attractiveness for some, just so long as they understand that its no miracle cure for being fat...
  20. Its very normal for Thai vendors to pass on the charges Visa and Mastercard apply. It doesnt matter if this is a Thai Credit Card or an overseas card (so that point is somewhat moot to the original ops issue). My Wife and I get decent points on our Credit card... and we use the card everywhere and anywhere, whenever possible unless the 3% charge is applied (on top of the 'stated' price)... the points add to to sufficient air-miles to get a flight for our family each year. With large purchases, 3% is usually applied... Its a shame, as I think of the amount of Air-miles we could get when buying a car on credit-card and then immedately paying it off - and we've tried, but, nope, they all state a 3% charge when using the card... Of course, in restaurnts, online purchases and normal day to day stuff most vendors don't charge that 3% (or already write it into the cost).
  21. On this... Data is quite expensie in countries such as Qatar and UAE.. I recall having to purchase 300 GB on a local SIM becasue the data drain was horrific... The cost was about 5000 baht...
  22. If someone is really that paranoid, then they may find themselves 'going off the grid' just 'Brill' (Gene Hackman) in Enemy of the State... Alternatively - just order the iPhone direct from Apple... but then with that level of paranoia, the staff at the Apple Factory could have loaded something.. "is that far fetched? Sure it is. Is it possible? Sure it is."... Where do you draw the line ?
  23. Perhaps... maybe its the way the iStudio management 'think' they need to protect themselves... Complete overkill, but I get the point - you walk out with a phone you know works.... and I agree, too much paranoia. Buy an iPhone, AppleWatch etc at the Apple Store at Central World and just walk out of it in and unopened box...
  24. Perhpas you've never helped out a friend which is why you consider that 'bragging'...
  25. MalcolmB has bragged about his drink driving in numerous other threads, which is why he started this thread with a loaded poll to fit his agenda.... But, I note you still haven't answerd the questions asked of you... which is telling.
