Am I the only one using (Indian) 'cook in sauces'?
That butter chicken was made in the UK a couple of Summers ago (Wife took the photos... Taking photos of food seems to be a national past time !!)... I made another back in Thailand a couple of months later... it wasn't as good, the only difference was the quality of tomatoes. They're just not as good here and it makes a difference in the final product.

However, you've read a few of them on this thread and been unable to achieve a basic understanding of the question...

UK Motorbike licence classes.
Maybe you should, you might discover that there is life outside of this forum, that you are obviously addicted to. Anyone else recognising the irony in someone suggesting there's 'life outside of this forum' while commenting on this forum !!!... Some guys just can't help but make utter tools of themselves on a thread they're trying to derail with stupidity.

UK Motorbike licence classes.
How is that remotely relevant to the thread ?... would you also like to know what they had for dinner ? Wrong... and thats the point of the thread - the question being asked. It may be possible for Trans' friend to secure a Thai Motorcycle licence based on the endorsements on his UK Driving Licence - no need for an agent.

Why dont you just ring up the Konsong. It will take two minutes and give you the right answer. Never ask a question you may not want the answer to. And.. it'll be impossible to know if they'll issue an MC licence based on description alone. Thus: IF showing the card and then telling them its only for a 50cc MC the response is likely to be cannot... or a shrug... The best advice is for Trans' mate to go and apply for the MC licence with his existing UK Driving Licence and just see what he can get away with.

A huge dose of reality in this comment... which will naturally be objected to and disagreed with by those very characters towards whom the comment is most applicable.

Agreed... Slow cooking brings out the deepest flavours. That depends on the degree of detail and effort you go to make it. From choosing the best tomatoes, to fresh cashew nuts, to churning then sieving the final sauce so that what you are left with is a rich silky smooth sauce. Au contraire... All part of the process... for many Indian recipe's there are two main processes, the meat and the Gravy. For my butter chicken I make the paste (Ginger & Garlic paste, Red Chilli & some salt) and coat the chicken in the paste (leave it over night or at least a few hours) - then cook (fry) & seal in the flavours. Make the sauce in the same pan the meat has just been cooked in. The result is an outrageously good 'Butter Chicken' that is a very far cry from anything that could be described as 'bland'.... Tikka Masala is a little different, char grilling the marinated chicken adds the charcoal flavour and an additional layer of depth and quality. I don't make my own Naan bread - I just can't get that as good as the restaurants.

Thai taxi drivers seek incentives to shift to electric vehicles
A typical EV contains about 14 kgs of Cobalt / 8 kgs of Lithium. Tesla has started using Cobalt free batteries - Lithium Ion Phosphate (LiFePO4), but they're less efficient, with less range - the tech has improved enough for Tesla to use it as its a more environmentally friendly option, is safer with less risk of thermal runaway, and lasts longer. BUT... it still contains Lithium and while the LiFePO4 batteries are considered the most environmentally friendly of batteries, mining for Lithium is still environmentally damaging, very energy intensive and polluting. Investigations found that mines in Africa (Democratic Republic of Congo) used children for the Cobalt mining, for Lithium-Ion Batteries - I think people have confused that with mining for Lithium. Also, thats not just EV's but the batteries in our computers and phones. There is concern that existing reserves of Lithium cannot meet demand, that concern also existed for oil. There has been a recent discovery in Iran which may resolve that shortage... Could we end up as reliant on Iranian for Lithium as we are the Middle East for Oil ? I am not convinced that our reliance on battery technology is any more environmentally friendly than our reliance on liquid hydrocarbons - I am of the understanding that developing carbon capture is a better step forwards and increasing our reliance on battery technology for EV's. https://www.reuters.com/markets/commodities/lithium-producers-warn-global-supplies-may-not-meet-electric-vehicle-demand-2023-06-22/ https://www.cnbc.com/2023/08/29/a-worldwide-lithium-shortage-could-come-as-soon-as-2025.html#:~:text=A worldwide shortage for lithium,a Fitch Solutions research unit.

Thanks for sharing your OCD tendencies, but this thread is about curry sauces. Do you have anything to add to that? A clean and hygienic kitchen is hardly OCD... its simply having basic standards !!! Mistakes are made in a messy kitchen... less so when your cooking simply involves throwing in a jar with some meat and bringing it up to temp (no criticism there, some of the sauces discussed are excellent). But, making curries from scratch requires space and organisation, measuring out the recipes accurately is key... mistaking a tablespoon for a teaspoon can have drastic consequences and those error surface in a messy kitchen.

UK Motorbike licence classes.
I'm not so sure thats true... It seems the Opposite for me. My first licence ontained in the 90's shows no endorsements for any motorcycle (see below) The renewal, obtained in 2015 clearly has endorsements for smaller MC's (50cc scooters etc). Exactly this... Agreed... its definitely worth giving it a try, just to save the time and hassle. Not so much as an eyebrow was raised when I showed my UK licence (when applying for MC and Car licence at the same time).

UK Motorbike licence classes.
This is my UK licence below. - Endorsements for AM, A1, A1, A which are cr_ppy little moped 50cc thingys or a trike [A 71(3)]. At DLT Area 3 (nr Sukhuhumvit 99 in Bangkok) I received a Thai Motorcycle License based on my UK car licence. I processed / applied for both MC and Car licences at the same time at the same time and had to do the basic 'transition' tests, i.e. watch video - colour blindness, peripheral vision, reaction & proximity (2 sticks) tests (no exam or outdoor practical etc). I don't think the DLT know about or care about the endorsements on the UK driving licence. I think the DLT simply see the 'Silhouette' of a motorcycle and thats good enough for them (or was). Thus: IF your overseas DL is in English and it has picture or Silhouette of any form of motorcycle on it, it may well be good enough to obtain a Thai MC licence.

Ride stability with a pillion passenger on a scooter v m/c.
There you have it 5davidhen1.... the scientific explanation to the issue your are facing is 'sux'.. As you rightly pointed out, the issue is likely to be the smaller wheels and quite possibly a steeper rake compared to the previous model you are familiar with. Both contribute to greater manoeuvrability, the pay off is a loss of stability - as another poster mentioned, you'll get used to it.

Would you cover for your grandson?
You’re convinced that you’d be such a poor parent that there is a strong probability your offspring would kill someone ????

Would you cover for your grandson?
Depends on the circumstances. Drugs are a concern, youngster get up to silly stuff. I do my best to educate, but we can’t be there to watch our kids all the time. We’re a while away yet, but at some point my son will want to go out with his mates at night. If he were caught with drugs or as part of a group some of whom had drugs etc and was facing charges, I’d do everything in my power to get him out, that means pulling strings, getting him on a flight that night etc (depending on severity etc). In the circumstance described in the Op, I’d certainly not lie or perjure myself, but I’d pull strings to ensure leniency assuming I haven’t failed as a parent & he’s a lost cause already. But really, if my son ever behaved like that in the future, it’s because I’ve failed as a parent today. Our job of course is to do a good enough job as parents to ensure these things don’t happen. I’d like to think that IF anything horrific were to happen it is a pure accident and I’d do whatever I can legally to assist him (things like DUI etc are not an accidents).

I was wondering how long it would take for the 'just have a shag' (or w@%£) responses to come along (no pun intended).

self-hypnotize or certified hypnotherapist in Bangkok
I think this issue comes from being professional and caring about your work. It's a good sign IMO, but obviously your stress levels are interfering with you. Recently I've started struggling with the 'in-between phase'... that point at which I am dropping off to sleep and the mind starts wondering... Just as I've nodded off, for whatever reason, I start worrying... I worry about retirement (20 years away), I worry about work, what happens if I lose my job etc.... I'm not a worrier at all, so its surprised me that this started happening. Obviously drinking helps to sleep, but that is far from practical and while I do enjoy a drink I hardly want to drink every day just so I can sleep. I have tried some sleeping tablets and '.....azapams or some '....zines' and they work well for a solid nights sleep, but again, completely unsustainable and most definitely not for repeated or long term use. The Marijuana... I've never enjoyed smoking weed, so have been slow to consider this, but, I've tried the edibles (gummys) a couple of times and they have helped with sleep and taking the 'edge' of worrying. So the question begs - Are these worries you are having, at night time (i.e. stress dreams or as you are dropping off and your imagination drifts), OR, is it something you worry about even in the middle of the day time when your 'logic centres' have better control over your thoughts ???

Trump vows to end ‘madness’ of EV push
Agree.... I'd like to see more efforts made towards carbon capture. At the point (time) of sale EV's are far more 'carbon costly' than ICE's and take years to reach equilibrium (up to 8 years). I like the idea of EV's keeping the air in our cities cleaner, but capture tech could also do the same thing and a new pollution tech (batteries with heavy metals) is not being relied up.

BYD fire tracking Thailand
I suspect its got to be specifically BYD EV's... Why you ask ? Because on the other thread he [ExpatOilWorker] dug himself it a huge hole as more and more information was presented to highlight that his bias was completely unfounded. He [ExpatOilWorker] wants EV's made in China to catch on fire so that he can confirm this bias of his. The more he digs, the more we find that there really is no issue at all (or far less than ICE's & hybrids).

Mysteries of our age.
9/11 as masterminded by numerous members of Al-Qaeda who were World travellers and educated in Western Universities and they communicated by E-mail and Bin Laden was very rich and could bankroll it . They didn't "live in caves" , they had internet access , but some of them did have beards though . Indeed... when someone 'cherry picks' flawed information and ignores other facts it tends to scream 'conspiracy nutter'.... The issue I have have with a lot of conspiracy theories is that they completely ignore the facts debunking them. Its interesting watching the 'fake moon landing' conspiracy videos which in the throws of heavy bias can be quite believable, however, when watching the videos which counter the conspiracy theories the explanations presented very quickly debunk the whole fabric of the conspiracy idea and destroy the feasibility of each individual thread of suspicion. Conspiracy theorists tend to remain within their chamber and are unlikely to seek out alternative view points such as 'counter conspiracy' videos and information. I don't know why, but suspect this is because on a subconscious level they've put effort into their beliefs and don't want to be wrong.
