The Perils for 'Green lights’ ???..... don’t they mean the perils of <deleted> going through red lights ???? There's the humdinger - a tragic mistake, but one I see so often in Thailand. Motorcyclists (and drivers) simply not looking when they pull across a junction or even when pulling out of a soi. Somewhat ironic.... the ambulance driver must surely know better than screaming through a red-light... how many traffic incidents will he have attended from exactly the same cause ??? did he not learn a thing ?

It surely is a crazy response - but sometimes people are forced right to the edge of their limits. This car dealership has surely treated this woman very poorly to push her to such a state. I wonder what the actual back-story is - what went wrong and how poorly was it handled. ------------ We had a knocking noise on our Mazda... took it in to be checked out. Fixed (changed suspension boot) we picked it up... still the knocking noise !!! <deleted> Complained, and escalated to management. Took it back in... Fixed. This time had them drop it off at our house with a mechanic. I took it for a test drive... straight away I heard the noise... Told the mechanic - not fixed. His response - It was because of my driving !!! ( I wanted to smack him across the head ). We told them to take the car back - again complained to management (Wife’s contact). He got directly involved... fix was found quickly (1x Engine Mount had broken). From what I gather - the mechanics are not that well trained. They don’t test drive properly - just a quick 1km loop around the back soi’s nearby (scared of an accident I guess). Once they have changed one thing, they are convinced they have fixed the issue instead of fully investigating (this is perhaps and experience and time thing).

A woman did this a few years back in protest against Honda - her CRV had repeated issues that the dealership were failing to deal with professionally. The action received a great deal of attention and was potentially quite damaging to Honda. If this gains further publicity I imagine this could cause some damage to Ford... This is a brand I won’t go near anyway. The reality is car dealerships in Thailand are notoriously extremely poor with the quality of service, particularly after sales and especially when something is going wrong. Unfortunately, social media is required to ‘kick-start’ them into action sometimes. I feel sympathetic towards this person for being driven to such action. One of the reasons I’ve never bought a Ford is the poor reputation of the after-sales service, I imagine many others have made the same decision. That said, its ultimately a s#it show... We’ve been lucky in the past, Wifey has decent connections or friends married to those in the industry. On occasion we’ve had to pull strings to receive what I would consider ‘standard service’.

I agree... Trucks ‘crawl out’.... but why would the truck continue ‘crawling’ out when there is a motorcycle riding towards it ? - the truck driver should stop, don’t you think? This seems to be an example of ‘I’m bigger, you’ll have to stop’.... Have you ridden a motorcycle in heavy rain - visibility is reduced, especially without a visor (which many Thai’s don’t use)... Maybe the motorcyclist ‘needed’ to be out at that time, maybe they had to be somewhere, the reason they were ‘there’ and riding in the rain is somewhat irrelevant... the key issue is why didn’t the motorcyclist slow down... - did he assume the truck would stop? or, - was his visibility so poor (due to the rain) that he misjudged? or, - was he riding too quickly and hit a puddle which deflected his motorcycle towards the truck ?

Well l'm not sure what your on about but after uncontrollable vomiting of blood and writhing with extreme aching pains I did die at the early stages and a paramedic guy who I still see about brought me back to life before they were able to electrocute me with those iron thingys. The funny thing was I remember vividly my wife shouting the first words I heard coming back she was shouting several times my name saying you can't leave me come back, come back. I replied apparently OK stop shouting I ain't going anywhere. ???? My comment was in response to photoguy21 claiming Dengue and Malaria were the same... His comment has since been removed (and my response).

Thai App Store vs your own countries
richard_smith237 replied to cyril sneer's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
There are some Apps which are not available on the Thai App store. There are some Apps which are only available on the Thai App store. Not many, but it has caused inconvenience at times - example: When I am on the UK app store and my Mor Prom app needed updating, or I needed to register with the Immigration (Section 32 app) which I couldn’t find online and had to switch. Switching between the stores (locations) is not an issue, UNLESS you have an on going subscription. I had an on going Subscription to Apple TV which was for a year, I couldn’t change App store until that subscription had ended... a ridiculous PITA. -
As worgeordie pointed out (and possibly shown by the photo)..... Did the truck actually pull out in front of the motorcyclist ? - the truck driver describes seeing him... so clearly expected the motorcyclist to be able to stop, The motorcyclist riding along the shoulder (as they do), rain in his face couldn’t see / couldn’t stop with tragic consequences ???
-
That would be a reasonable and scientific solution. Maybe a bit too sophisticated for the investigators? Either that or the trucking company asked the police very convincingly not to review the footage. That dash-cam footage (if the cam was on - it appears there is a cable going to it) could potentially exonerate the Owners of the vehicle or condemn them. - No evidence of brake failure in dash-cam footage - owners exonerated. - Evidence of brake failure in dash-cam footage - incident now wholly the drivers fault (but did he have an option to crash into something else where people weren’t ?).

She’s obviously a half-wit... Now, imagine she has a Pit-Bill..... We know your dogs are lovely, we know they are well trained, as are the PittBulls of the responsible owners that have contributed to this thread. But, when talking about ‘Pitbulls’ we are not talking about YOUR Pitbulls, we are talking about Pitbulls in general, those owned all around Thailand, owned by the person down the street who leaves the gate open, owned by the nutty woman in the condo with 7 Pitbulls who doesn’t take them out.... These people should not be permitted to have dogs fullstop... there really needs to be something in the way of preventing these people from owning dogs which are considered dangerous. *and as to whether its accurate that these dogs can be considered dangerous - I think thats a given which is why they need such specific and dedicated ownership and training, for when they don’t receive that, they are a threat.
-
A very valid point... The responsible owners of these dogs which we’d usually see on a dangerous dogs list in countries such as the UK (or even dogs which are banned) always comment how their dogs are well trained and secured, can’t get out, people can’t get in etc.... Why is that necessary ??.... what are they scared of ?? - the answer is clear, they know the power of their dog and the consequences if ‘something’ triggered the dog. Thus: IF there was an automatic penalty for the owner, would they own such a dog ? Then... would any dog be owned ??? This perhaps highlights that all dogs can bite. All dogs can be triggered. But, IF triggered the consequences of a more dangerous dog ‘turning’ are far more severe.... deadly.

Everytime I take/took out a new policy. It's standard procedure. Google is yer friend. Google is my friend.... As is experience.... Insurance have not come out and taken photo of 7 of my cars... they did for one. Thus... Your argument that ‘insurance comes out and takes photos of your car....’ is not true.... certainly not for the cars I have had (BMW’s, Hondas, Mazda etc)... Maybe you had cars worth more than 5 MB... thats the only time insurance came out to photograph my car, take chassis number etc...
-
If you have a new policy you will be required to have it photographed. If it's a continuous policy, with the same insurer, then no. But in the event of an accident the original photo's will be used to check for modifications. Insurers ain't gonna cough up if they don't have to. I have had 8 cars... Insurance have only ever taken a photo of one of the cars (an expensive one).... Did insurance come out to take photos of your car for the policy ? Anyone else, have you had insurance come out to take a photo of your car at the beginning or renewal of your policy ?

"...with 2100kg of eggs..." Equally questionable is where was it stated that the pickup was carrying eggs weighing 2,100kg? Technically feasible (2100kgs of eggs in transport), but as you argue, nowhere is 2100kgs of eggs quoted. The article quotes 1,385 eggs.... ..... valued at 190,000 Baht.... I want to know what eggs are worth 137 baht each !!! Translated quote: https://www.dailynews.co.th/news/1495417/ The accident Damaged all 1,385 eggs that he put in the back of the car, totaling 190,000 baht.
-
What policy ??? It is very unlikely the ‘egg seller’ had anything other than Por-Ror-Bor (compulsory) insurance - so there’s nothing to ‘wiggle’ out of... Reading insurance coming and taking photos: Have insurance taken a photo of your car every year of policy renewal ??? I’ve had 8 cars over the years in Thailand. Only once did insurance come and take photos of the car (which was expensive one and insured for quite a lot). Unless things have changed in recent years car-insurance is very fair. Unlike the west, they don’t try and wiggle out of payment over things like a change of tyres, rims etc... even bald tyres.

Russian motorbike rider dies after crashing into minivan in Karon

There are always one or two posters who throw out the same or similar comments in such threads and use terms such as.... Arm-chair-detectice... Keyboard CSI etc... ... some even take one step further and accuse the poster of ’speculating - were you there?’’... etc etc... Have you completely missed the fact that this is a forum the very purpose of which is discussion? If you don’t want discussion, questions, opinions etc... read the news !! ----------- On of the reason I am interested in such topics is the debate, the theories, the speculation, the discussion...
