  2. EMIRATES TO BOOST RECOVERY SERVICES TO THAILAND

DUBAI, U.A.E., 3rd December 2008 – Emirates announced today that it will boost its ongoing initiatives to facilitate travel for passengers affected due to the closure of Suvarnabhumi Airport, Bangkok, by operating two additional, special flights to U-Taphao Airport until 5th December as well as re-instating its scheduled flight EK372/373 (Dubai-Bangkok-Dubai) effective 6th December.

The Dubai-based airline has previously operated a recovery flight each to U-Taphao Airport and Chiang Mai Airport, bringing back close to 600 passengers. It has also offered passengers the option to re-route their travel from alternative airports in Thailand and other South East Asian points such as Kuala Lumpur, Singapore or Hong Kong.

Emirates third recovery flight, a Boeing 777-300 aircraft departed Dubai today for U-Taphao Airport. It will return on 4th December carrying 380 passengers. Emirates choice of wide-bodied Boeing 777 aircraft is deliberate to ensure that the maximum number of passengers can be recovered from Bangkok.

The fourth recovery flight will depart Dubai on 5th December and will also bring back 380 passengers. At present the flight is scheduled to operate to U-Taphao Airport, but it may be re-routed to Bangkok if the on-ground situation improves further. Passengers wishing to travel to Bangkok can contact Emirates’ Reservations in their local markets to book themselves on the fourth recovery flight, subject to seat availability.

Emirates has also positioned additional flight and cabin crew in Thailand in preparation for the resumption of services.

  3. Anyone any more info on when Emirates will start flying to swampy again, just called them in the UK 20 mins ago and still all cancelled untill after the 12th, yet most airlines are stating when they will be flying again.

Watch this space for probable news later today or tomorrow morning. The first Thai flight landed at swampy this afternoon so I am guessing things will start ramping up over the next few days.

  4. We have now tried this a couple times, and it's mighty tasty. However, the place we buy it at, Klang Plaza 2 in Korat, charges more for Nana pasta sauce than the similarly sized Prego. Specifically, the Prego is 105 baht and two ounces larger than the Nana at 109 baht. I recall reading here that the maker is trying to make a lower-cost option than the imported sauces. So what's going on? Is Klang ripping us off totally? Is the expense of making such a high-quality sauce increasing the price? What are other people paying for Nana sauce, and how much is Prego at the same location?

    What flavor did you buy?

Artichoke flavor is more expensive... due to the cost of artichokes.

But the rest should be close to 80 baht.

If not, we need to have a chat with them....

    Please let me know.

    Thanks much.

Hey Chef Heat, I have a question. If you sell a product to a retailer for X baht and the retailer marks it up to X+ baht, is that not within their rights?

  5. Boycotting businesses to punish the PAD makes about as much sense as occupying the airport to punish the PPP. Hurts a lot of innocent people who have nothing to do with the conflict.

not sure if i totally agree. if someone took money out of my pocket (directly or indirectly), i would be sure not to support them in the future.

That's you as an individual. Bangkok Bank represents lots of people who have nothing to do with conflict.

yes but you would agree that Bangkok Bank is not the only show in town while both shut-down airports are. If businesses directly supported the PAD and the shutdown of the airports, then they stand to gain or lose from that position - the public will decide.

If BK Bank (and I am not sure they did) supported the moves by the PAD, surely their risk assesment teams weighed the pro's and con's of such actions. :o

The main difference is that occupying the airports did not punish the PPP (the court did). It punished the country as a whole.

  6. sorry for posting this on the Utd page lads but

  7. not one of Gerrard's better games chai mai?

    so?

I just thought you would like a little of your own medicine, you go on about how he is a Football God and like to spend time on the United forum labelling CR this and that, well two can play at that game. :o

  8. Each of the last four Xmases I've promised myself that it'd be my last in this place, this year I won't bother making that promise...

Christmas' are never the same here..

Thats why Im going back to the UK this christmas. :o

So essentially you are saying that without Christmas, you would never go back to the UK. Understandable.

  9. Does anyone remember that movie Shanghai noon? It was/is a bit rubbish, but I need it for a study I am doing. (I think it was the same producer as Shaolin soccer!?). Anyway, I am needing to buy a copy, legit only thanks, I dont like pirates. I'm in Chiang mai.

    Help appreciated.

    willy

Star movies keeps showing that piece of crap recently. Re no copies, I doubt anyone would have a legit copy of that movie, and if someone does, you got to ask yourself why?

BTW, what does living in Chiang Mai have to do with not liking Pirates? :o

  10. So, does anyone know if travel insurance will kick in to compensate for the delays and cancellations? ThaiVisaInsurance, care to give a reply?

Our travel plans were for the 28th, then the 30th, then the 2nd and now, finally on the 3rd we were able to vacate the country. This has had a ripple effect on hotels that were booked and paid for as well as other air tickets and train tickets. Thankfully, the hotel and train line were understanding of our situation and have let us rebook with them, even though it was not allowed. Amazing what some "bak wan" in an email can do.

But I would like to be compensated for the delay, as it has cut our trip short.

When I called our insurer to ask about filing a claim, I did mention that we are unable to fly due to the situation in BKK airport, and they proceded to give us instructions to make a claim. I just do not want to go through all the BS and paperwork just to get a DENIED reply. Anyone have any luck with any travel insurance accepting a claim for what happened?

While I sympathise with your plight, I gather from your statement that you are only interested in having someone else do the BS and paperwork before seeing if you should do the same.

It seems your insurer gave you instructions to make a claim, if you are unwilling to do any work to put the claim in, then why do you expect others to go through the motions on your behalf. Make a claim or quit whining...laziness has no bounds.

  11. it's frustrating but then any team would miss torres. without him our attack lacks a focal point and we struggle to adapt. he'd have created two or three chances out of nothing against the hammers and probably taken at least one of them.

still top of the league though after fifteen matches and wouldn't swap places with anyone. one game at a time remains the mantra.

not one of Gerrard's better games chai mai?

  12. I don't know, shouldn't you be in your LP forum talking about the greatness of Gerrard - it's been 10 years ya know :D

i'm very aware that it's been ten years. i was at the match against sheff wed when he scored his first goal and marked himself out as a lad to watch.

sorry for posting this on the Utd page lads but

apples and oranges, bit like me comparing Petr Checski with Feranando Torres

not sure if i totally agree. if someone took money out of my pocket (directly or indirectly), i would be sure not to support them in the future.

  14. yes, there's more damage done then the PAD wants to know about ... what about all those people who will get mugged, robbed and even murdered, due to the rise of crime, due to the rise of unemployment caused by the PAD ?

in most of the Thai minds in ended well after all, as no blood was shed, just like with the coup ... but that's just typical Thais being shortsighted ...

hundreds, even thousands of people will die because of the actions of the PAD ...

By overstating it to this scale, you play into the hands of the naysayers. Sure there will be knock-on effects, but thousands of deaths is hard for even the most anti-PADer to accept.

I think i paid 75 or 80 baht in Bangkok - perhaps there is extra shipping costs to Korat???

  16. I am just happy that Liverpool fans spend so much time worry about it.

it's a topical football issue, so why not talk about it? wouldn't say 'worrying', i only worry about my own team. i enjoy talking about beckham too, the man who set the bar for self-publicity that ronaldo's currently trying to reach.

I don't know, shouldn't you be in your LP forum talking about the greatness of Gerrard - it's been 10 years ya know :o

  17. hmm interesting, I think CR realises that his opportunity for trophies and awards lays not in Madrid but in Real Manchester.

You should worry about Robbie Keane and what Rafa thinks about him and the health of mr goldielocks.

as i said though, he plays for himself and not for united, so it's not about club trophies for him. he wants to be the biggest cheese at the biggest club in the world, which however much it rankles with manyoo fans, is still real madrid. particularly for a lad of latino extraction. him and alex ferguson are going to go bust-up this season, i'll bet you anything on it. part of ronaldo's madrid-strategised plan to ensure that he leaves united next summer and it doesn't look like it's his fault.

I am just happy that Liverpool fans spend so much time worry about it.
