  1. My mom just rang and asked what needed to be done, and was told that it would cost that for a flight "after the 12th" and that was "if there were seats available". I don't believe any specific date was asked for.

However, I will be checking with Emirates later today.

Don't want to argue with you but when you Mom says after the 12th - that does not mean next available flight neccesarily (but in this case it is likely to be).

If it was me, I would go down to the Emirates office in person and say "I had a flight to Thailand booked for xx but because of the shutdown, when the aiport does open again, how much notice will you give me so I can get out on the next available flight at no extra charge?

And then when the resumption of flights is given a green light, I would again go directly to the Emirates ticketing office and get it changed then and there. Phone calls in these situations IMO leave areas for errors to occur.

Keep in mind, if the protesters leave today (hypothetically), it will take several days to get the airport back up and running.

  2. I had an e-mail from my Mom last night, and when she rang Emirates she was told that it would cost an extra £765 for both of them to change. I have a feeling (and don't know if it is right as I haven't spoken to Emirates myself yet), but the price of the seats goes up after about the 9th of December until mid January, so can only presume it is the difference in the seat price????? I will be ringing Emirates myself at some stage today, when their office opens in UK.

    Not good news though!!!!!!!

I am guessing that the issue is due to the fact that your mom request a specific date whereas the statement from the airlines says the first available flight following the resumption of services.

  3. 02/12/2008 02:30, Report by Nick CoppackRonaldo:

Europe's no.1Cristiano Ronaldo has been awarded the prestigious Ballon d’or trophy.

The most coveted individual honour in European football, the award recognises Ronaldo’s outstanding performances over the past 12 months.

"I dreamt of this when I was younger," he said. "It's a great day for me and my family."

The Portuguese winger scored 42 goals last season on the way to domestic and European glory with the Reds and was the resounding favourite to win the trophy.

After France Football’s confirmation in the early hours of Tuesday morning, the 23-year-old joins United legends George Best, Denis Law and Bobby Charlton on the award’s honours roll.

Recent winners include Kaka (AC Milan, 2007), Fabio Cannavaro (Juventus/Real Madrid, 2006) and Ronaldinho (Barcelona, 2005).

Ronny become the 42nd different player to pick up the prize, and the third Portuguese after Eusebio’s victory in 1965 and Figo's win in 2000.

"The Ballon d'or has been won by two great Portuguese players and for me to be part of that history is a great feeling."

  4. My Mom & Dad were due to fly on the 6th December, Emirates have told them that if they want to re-book on a flight after the 12th they will have to pay an extra £765 - which is OUTRAGEOUS!!!!!!! :o

Question, if the flight doesn't go on the 6th because of this situation, are you saying they are gonna charge you for rebooking? That's contrary to all their public statements as was stated above...

Passengers to/from Bangkok who do not wish to re-route will be re-booked on the first available flight when the airport re-opens

but i bet you would like to have him in your team, :D and as long as he is wearing the shirt, who cares

i've got manyoo fan mates back home who wanted him gone in the summer and find it impossible to cheer him now. i've never gone along with the thing that just wearing the shirt guarantees a player support and love regardless. it's got to be earned and justified.

He doesn't look a patch on the Player he was last year & even though he hardly ever smiled last year, it seems this year he smiles even less & doesn't enjoy his Football at all..

Playing Football seems to be a chore for him at the moment..

to both, you question his heart and desire, the guy is flys to brasil and back, gets beat up from the Villa game last week and insists to play in a relatively meaningless Champions League game vs villa real mid week. sorry to disappoint you, you are wrong. but thanks for coming. :o

Are you honestly telling i'm wrong for saying that he doesn't look a patch on the Player he was last year & that he smiles even less this year than he did last year ??

Only time i've seen him smile this year was sarcastically yesterday after getting booked..

Don't want to run into headaches with JS as this is the Chelsea thread, but seems to me he was pretty happy when he scored his 100th a couple weeks back, as was Wayne the other night. Continue the debate in our thread if you want.

  6. HUGELY fuc_king annoying that was. no bottle and no belief, remove torres from the side and we just lack a goal threat. it's this lack of ruthlessness that'll cost us the title.

robbie keane is pissing me off something chronic too.

Don't mean to rub salt in the wound Stevie but SAF did say 20 million for Robbie???

Anyways, look at it this way, at the start of the year if I said on December 3 you'd be in first place, I think you would take it.

  7. Would anyone know of any business helping centre anywhere around, Faxing and printing mostly. No ones keen in using there fax Machines around here today as they seem to be in some hypnotic spell or something. I need to find somewhere in a hurry and they must be able to fax internationally.

internet shop in Times Square building second floor can do it, near sunrise tacos

i must have imagined those 'slave' comments in the summer and his stating that he didn't want to play for united any more. must be hot down there with your head in the sand eh james? :D

blatter was the slave commenter stevie boy, drinking out of too many aluminum cans up their in the sticks are ya???

  9. I have a strong suspicion that Thailand is going to change dramatically, probably at the end of the week.

I'm also very frustrated that I can't talk about why on this forum and also many Thai people won't talk about it.

Do members think that the change will affect them? I have a feeling that MANY things are going to change for the worse.

I see a few different outcomes which we can not discuss here.

But I see the PAD only trying to press the button on the time machine which brings us back in the year 2000, which wasn't that bad.

Fine by me as long as the skytrain remains.

  11. Back to the OP's question, found this on the telegraph.co.uk website...

The general manager of Suvarnabhumi internbational airport, which normally handles 700 flights a day, said it would take at least a week to restore compromised securtity and compurter systems after the protesters leave the site, which may not happen soon.

"Normally, checking the IT systems takes one week. We have to check, recheck, check, recheck," said Serirat Prasutanond. If problems are discovered reopenning the airport could take even longer, he added.

    whole story is... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/...o-airports.html

  12. He is in this video, Al jazeera..

I wish not to agree or disagree with what side he supports but I do wish he could, or they could have edited in, something of substance.. What Sir, about their philosophical foundations do you agree with?

He seems like a medical tourist that got caught up in the excitement, I could be wrong though, he might be a long time expat and a member of this forum.. Maybe he just looks at it as free room and board for a couple days?

Watching the video suggest that no one is real serious about getting these people out.. Power is still on, actually looks like a nice place to stay..

Relieved, the guy is not good looking so no mistaken identity. BTW what is a medical tourist?

  13. Government house wouldnt happen to have a spare international type airport inside it, would it??

Govt House protesters move to Don Mueang, Suvarnabhumi

    On Bk post website...

    – One of the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) leaders, Maj-Gen Chamlong Srimuang, on Monday told protesters at Government House to move to Don Mueang and Suvarnabhumi airports.

According to Maj-Gen Chamlong, anti-government demonstrators will no longer be allowed to spend a night at Government House for their own safety, following repeated grenade and gun attacks at the compound previously.

He said the daily demonstration at Government House will now be held until evening, and only the PAD guards will station at the site during the night.
