  1. this farangs are low standered tourist, and join PPP or PAD for some money....

its very common in sukhumvit or patpong area ,you can find them standing outside of bars trying to bring customers in.

i m not surprised to see them in protests.........

First hand knowledge there Yogi Bear?

What bars on Sukhumvit have farang PR Guys?

  2. Here's an event I was working on that got cancelled on sat...

More than 4,000 health professionals are expected to attend the upcoming World Congress on XXX (deleted the name of the congress on purpose) to be held from December 3 – 7, 2008 in Bangkok, Thailand.

These aren't backpackers (no offense to them) staying in 500 baht a night rooms.

Anyway you add it up, this whole situation is mega costly to the country.

    Oh you mean "Osteoporosis"?? :D

Good one mate, perhaps it was a freudian slip on my part, mind in the gutter so to speak :o

  3. So why is the airport closed?

For starters because the PAD have taken over the Control Tower- duh... :o

With all of the two major airports under PAD control, how is it that it was so easy to overtake security

and gain control? Is this a foretaste of things to come as it pertains to terrorists of the international ilk?

Were the armed guards seen walking the terminals and tarmac on all of our visits just for show? Who

told them to turn away from their duties to secure the airports? As a frequent visitor, I find this alarming.

Nobody told them, it turned 5pm and their shift was up so they went home. What do you expect them to do, work overtime? :D

  4. Saw an American guy protesting with PAD ont tv, wearing a yellow shirt and headband. I think it was on the Aljazerra news network.

I think he was just looking for a bit of attention and to get on tv.

Yes, he was seen getting out of a tuk tuk and waiing the driver before proceeding into the terminal for a leak where he was again spotted waiing the lavatory attendant. Obviously been here a long time as he knows Thai customs well.......krap. :o

Does anybody have picture of this fool? I wouldn't want to have a case of 'mistaken identity' and get a bottle smashed over my head.

    Hopefully, he isn't goodlooking :D

  5. Noticed several England matches and the early FA cup rounds have been shown on Star but not in Thailand!!!! Anyone know what's going on?

Will be an absolute atrosity if the powers that be at TRUE don't sort something out to show this historic competition.

Don't the local Thai Channels show it? Probably not the early rounds but maybe semi and final?

  6. she said she just heard it on television.

what she might have heard was that somchai has said he will abide by the courts decision tomorrow , that could mean that if the court rules that the party is illegal then he will step down etc.

Amazing that we need to translate the Thai news for our Thai spouses :o

  7. Thanks RJT, my point about the yellow shirts does pose some questions.

If everyone in BK is supporting the airport invaders, then why not a sea of yellow today in the city.

Seems to me that the support level (for this action only) is not as grassroots as it seems on TV.

Re the pissup, good idea, what time is it?

  8. LOL corkscrew, thanks for adding a bit of humour into our gloomy days with the crazy things going on

(by the way I had australian oysters on the weekend.....was soooooo so yummy! :D )

    pics might be forthcoming :D

as long as the pics are of the oysters prior to consumption ok. :D

What's next, everyone coming on TV to moan that they can't get their favorite imported crips :o

  9. Just as a follow up - I bought a Samsumg 42in Plasma series 4 (hd ready) for 29,990 from Home Pro Plus at Ploenchit BTS.

As I proceeded to the counter to fill out the paperwork for delivery, the guy goes, sir your home theatre will come later that day. I said ah ok, didn't know i was getting one but free what the heck. Nice DVD with HDMI outputs, decent sound all around and good sub.

Yesterday, two different sets of delivery guys show up and installed everything in the afternoon.

Then around 6pm, I get a call from Home Pro to see if I recieved everything ok and to ensure that I didn't pay anything for delivery.

Compared with other suppliers I had to deal with over the weekend regarding my move to a different residence, this experience with HP from start to finish was as professional as I have seen here in awhile.

Watching the football match last night in my home theatre room was pure joy!

Well done to HP and thanks to everyone who replied for all your HDMI, Component, RCA input . cheers.

  10. thought you would. that thirty seems to be getting fewer and fewer all the time since he no longer really wants to be there by the way.

well nearly (costing the team) is different that actually, keep that in mind the next time your goalie screws up :o

  11. Best player in the world stevie, time to get over yourself mate and worry about hamstrings

i wouldn't take three ronaldos over one leo messi. or one kaka for that matter.

you not remotely annoyed at him for being so completely unprofessional and putting his team at risk james?

you have to take the good with the bad, for every stupid move, the guys makes 30 brilliant ones, I can live with that.

  12. disappointed with city but united deserved it.

so manyoo fans, ronaldo - petulant self-adoring tosspiece or arrogant wantaway moron?

  14. I'm supposed to fly out of Suvarnabhumi on Dec 11. Assuming the airport is clear by then, and there is a massive backlog of passengers, will I still fly out on that scheduled flight, or will they fly out stranded passengers first and everyone else waits?

Or will they simply schedule additional flights in order to clear the backlog?

I tried ringing TG but couldn't get through...

Good luck ringing TG. If and when they open the airport, it will takes days to make it fully operational and weeks to get the backlog cleared.

When it does opens (thinking it may come after the court ruling tomorrow) I would go to the TG ticketing office and sit there until you get a confirmation.
