  1. So who is actually going to go to the Black Swan on Saturday?

It is only the starting point for the evening as it is very easy to get to.

Not that I would be too upset if it was just me and thithi that turn up but hey the more the merrier!

William Tell is that guy that shot an apple off his son's head with an arrow. I think RJT is indicating that he might shoot James in the nuts! :o

He better have a big gun!

RE: Black Swan, what time is the meetup, maybe I will sneak out of house moving duties for one or 12 bevies, if that's ok with JCON

Thithi, maybe Iwill wear my glassed to get a better look at you. Last time I was pissed and I am afraid you are "good looking from afar, but far away from good looking" :D

  2. The PM is out of the country, the PPP-led coalition-government proposes to amend the Constitution during a meeting purportedly to discuss ASEAN agreements, a move which will be unpopular with many people, and even with some of their minor-party coalition-partners.

A significant non-parliamentary opposition-movement will oppose any changes, but it is very possible that the courts will shortly dissolve the PPP anyway, so it is decided to try to rush the changes through.

Has the consultation so far on this been sufficient, do the MPs already have a mandate to change the Constitution anyway, or is this a last-gasp attempt to impose the ammendments before the government falls ?

    What do TV-members think ?

As I don't have a vote in this country, it doesn't matter what I think.

  3. me vs mirror??

Jamie, i'm not in the fighting unless you will grow some pony tails

    Ummm what is William Tell???

Black Swan is no pumping night club, and it's pretty slow but great central point. Have a beer and go elsewhere

    Jamie, D'you copy?

Still don't get the William Tell thingy - RJT please, do tell.

As for Pony Tails, I am afraid that's not possible by Saturday but could throw in two days of unshavenness to rash you all over?

  4. What's the alternative? 4:3 vacuum tube? Forget it.

You might want to skip on the full 1080 HD, but DVDs look a hundred times better on huge LCD screens.

Also you can download tons of stuff, all in widescreen format, that would look ten times better on LCD, you can dowload tons of 720p HD stuff that would be perfect for HDTV. Most of new movies and practically all new series are available in HD format to download these days.

Thanks for the advice, and no I wasn't thinking of a tube job but just a normal LCD 42" versus a HD LCD.

  5. Ok ok…. Seriously thou what seems to be the problem? He's sneaking of late nights for a bit of grinding? He needs a slap in the head. I never see any seriously isues with in young couples, only when the guy cant control him self…or they better fly home to save there marriage I guess .

"The weakness of men is the facade of strength; the strength of women is the facade of weakness."

Why do you assume it's the man in your scenario?

To the OP, could I suggest to contact their Embassy, maybe they can point you in a reputable direction.

Thanks BKKJames. I'll tell them that. I don't want to provide details as I haven't told them I've gone to TV, a public forum, for advice. Alcohol is an issue and I've got info on support there.

If the Embassy can't help, perhaps check with the Chamber of Commerce from their country BritCham, Amcham, AusCham etc for possible ideas on where to look.

  7. This was brekkies today. 1/2 eaten already.

A flour tortilla, smeared with refried beans. Slices of TGM ham, 2 poached eggs w/ salsa sauce.

If this is not your cup of tea read my avatar.

Doesn't look bad there DC, with a little work on the presentation and the addition of a few cooked flies, maybe you can give Sunrise a run for its money :o

  8. No <deleted>. Ronaldo has been the best player in the world the last year. Everyone knows that. Nobody's disputing it. That doesn't exclude him from being the best diver in the world, either. Understand now?

Haha, touchy bunch you scousers are. Heaven knows Mr. Gerrard never dives. :o

  9. Normally I would say to go with the HD television with as many HDMI inputs as possible, but broadcasts in Thailand are no where near HD ability. Unless you are going to play blue-ray videos, there is no reason.

    HTH

Thanks, most have 2 HDMI inputs, I guess for Blue Ray? does anybody buy blue ray DVDs here?

  10. Get in line. I am involved with an international conference next week that is seeing 4000 delegates coming to Bangkok for 3 days. If this keeps up, the whole thing will get cancelled.

A friend of mine was to fly to Dubai tonight to exhibit in a big furniture show - not happening now....and so on and on and on. So many people being affected by this move - Thai and farang.

I hope the PAD realises it is they who will take the blame for taking over the airport, and the knock on affects it is / will continue to have.

Like I said before, either pro PAD or Government a supporter I am not, but even if they (PAD) win this war and force another election, they will be beaten again, and again.

  11. I just watched an interview on ASTV.....a man who had just come to join the protest...

He told his wife he wanted to come and fight for his country.....his wife really objected and wanted him to take her on vacation...

His reply was memorable........I am going to fight for my country.....if I loose a wife I can get another, if I loose my country I am lost.

In the PAD I find a lot of very patriotic feelings, they truly believe the country and Kingdom must be saved from this corruption.....They are not trying to take over the government, just have a just government (for the 1st time in a long time).

    :o:D

  12. You are correct, only need to buy a HD if your gonna get HD content which you aint gonna get in thailand but maybe the DVD man might say that his DVD's are HD ha ha ..plus dont ya need a HD DVD player to play HD DVD's???

Thanks mate, I assumed as much. It's kind of funny when a salesperson goes to me "this one HD, much higher quality" and I reply, "You mean we have HD broadcasts now in Thailand, which channel?" and a blank look ensues.

  13. Hi all:

Would like to pick your brains if I may. I am buying a new LCD this weekend for the house and quite honestly can't really see why I would go for the new HD models.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but HD is not available (nor likely to be anytime in the next decade) in Thailand. Therefore, with DVD's giving a resolution of somewhere around 550 lines square inch and UBC much lower than that, I am wrong in assuming the buying an HD LCD is overkill at this point.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

    James

  14. Seems us UTD fans are not the only ones who think highly of CR..hey stevie :o

Fernando Torres has today sung the praises of Cristiano Ronaldo, claimining our winger is ‘incomparable’ to any player he’s ever seen.

Torres scored an impressive 33 goals last season, yet Liverpool still failed to win anything. As a striker, he was still 9 goals short of Ronaldo, who played as a winger for the majority of the season, and recognises the class of our player.

“No-one can rival him,” said Torres. “He is in a class of his own. I have never seen a comparable player. What he did last season is incredible. No-one won this year what he’s won: Champions League, Premier League and Golden Boot. For me he is the best player in the world. A machine. Incomparable.”

  15. Not a bad game last night considering each team played to draw essentially.

However, I am getting very tired of Nani, who reminds me of park (no scoring ability) without the effort, stamina and skill. I think he will be gone in Jan - if not next summer.

  16. one can stay clean if he choose to dig the dirt , one can't be bright if he choose to alway walk the dark path ,

one jumping in the pool of blood can't come out clean .

if you dig you might get bury , if he walk the darkness you might get lost and if you dive in the blood you may be drown .

. sometime we know but is best we just know .

the one who lost most is not those that pay but those trying to afford .

Ok there Ta, I mean Socrates

  17. Very easy.

    It's Suegha.

Was wondering if anyone would mention him. :D

I agree. Suegha is one of the kindest, sweetest, members around. Always trying to be supportive and considerate despite the odds. Big teddybear (well tigerbear..er..yeh..something like that).

Edit: Oops Migs just came to mind too. I dont recall ever seeing her get mad, even when someone is making derogatory or cliched comments about Thai people she responds with dignity. As long as you feed her chocolate though...I suspect she will turn nasty if she doesnt get her chocolate supply on time.

I agree about Migsy, except when her team loses, which seems to be rather normal these days..sans last night :o

  18. This is all being done to stop the PM from flying into BKK???

What are the PAD gonna do next, block every airport in the country including U-Tapao?

Safe to say whether you are for or against the former leader, most people in Bangkok are now tired of the yellow mobs. By people, I mean those that actually work for a living.
