  1. As a holder of a work permit etc for the last 7 years, it all expires on the 24th November. This is not a major problem as I now work in China. But, the company who controls my China operation is based in Bangkok. Being a UK passport holder, I realise that I can get 30 day visa on arrival at Swampy, but are there any restrictions on the number of entries using this method.

I will be required to go to BKK quite regularly, but always entering by the airport not land border, each visit could last for up to 7 days. Can anyone see any potential pit falls here ? One possible problem could be not holding a outbound air ticket, this because the company buys all tickets in BKK.

  2. It definately sounds like a pressure problem. In my case the pump is set to 28psi, when the tank pressure drops below that the pump activates to reinstate that pressure. Almost sure you have a leak somewhere

  3. Same thing happened to me at a rented house in Prachachen, the kitchen was an add on and over the months cracks got bigger, doors wouldnt open, window panes cracked, but funnily enough I didnt hear any noises.

When I began to see daylight through the wall cracks I told the landlord that I was leaving. He then tore down the whole kitchen and had to lay new deep foundations and start again

  4. The government announced this afternoon that Bangkok will retain both airports for international flights.

However Don Duang will not be operated/ managed by AoT but by another and will be head to head in competition with Swampy. This to me is a good move and could shake up a lot of people in Swampy.

Can only be for the best in my opinion

  5. Talking of the FA Cup, i note the debacle of last year has not been rectified, this years FA Cup will again not be shown in Thailand according to Star spports adverts

  6. as a frequent business traveller in China, I chose my hotels very carefully. I now always use tripadviser, log on and check the guest comments on the hotel I am looking at. I dont know if the Citadanes in Bangkok is part of the Ascott group, but I stayed at the Citadanes in Shanghai and was very pleasantly surprised

  7. Thanks. Sounds like it is better coverage than in the UK!

What's the deal with that Heart of Goal show? I'd love to know what they are saying.

I believe you are more accurately informed by not watching it.

I find the mighty Ton Hom and her two muppet colleagues to be more informed than other so called experts pontificating on some of the other programmes.

Football Focus, what can I say, a bunch of never have beens who at most played in some mickey mouse league most fans have never heard of.

Dale Tempest, wasnt he on Star sport out of Hong Kong about 15 years ago?

What about the stroppy Jock that appears on European nights in the champions league, please let me know what teams colours he graced.

Yes give me Heart of Goals any day, turn down the sound and laugh, as you say you will be better informed by not listening to it, but still infinetly wiser than you would have been if you wasted your time with some of our friends from the profitable group.

The stroppy Jock as you so rightly called him, has graced the colours of the following clubs. Dundeed Utd, Aston Villa, Wolves, Everton, Notts County, West Brom, Rangers and Cheltenham Town. Been there and got the T Shirt i would suiggest.

Dale Tempest had spells with Fulham, Gillingham Colchester before moving to HK to play for South China where he still holds the record of being the leading goalscorer in 5 consecutive seasons, including a hatrick again Sao Paolo FC who were beaten 4-2 by South china..

  8. In the Philippiners I was a lover of Bangus, also called milk fish. I dont know what their real name is but I knew a filipina in BKK who used to go to Foodland every Saturday to buy this fish so they are available in BKK. These are fresh water and easily farmed

  9. It may have escaped the OP's notice that the Cebu Pacific flights Bangkok-Manila are also red eye flights and always have been. This has to be accepted if you wish to travel with a budget airline which Cebu are. Take it or leave it or spend a bit more to travel at a sensible hour. Its only a 2 hour drive from Manila to Angeles

  10. I realise that not everyone is technically minded, but guages etc are installed for a reason. If you know your car well then you should be able to hear and realise that when engine noises change, its likely that there is a problem. I cannot understand how, when hearing a change of engine noise, the car is driven on and a quick check of the guages is not carried out until its too late.

I also wonder how many drivers check their oil and water regularly. In hot countries with AC blasting the engine takes a hammering and unless the coolant system is full and well maintained a problem is just around the next bend. For the OP who stated that he had a hose leak after overheating he may be putting the cart before the horse. An overheating engine is likely to blow a weak hose. Its all down to weekly maintenance and being aware or its going to hit your pocket.

  11. Here in Kunming, where Motor Cycles are mostly banned, the population ride electric scooters and they are everywhere and equally as fast and dangerous as Motor cycles. yet they are classified as bicycles and as such no licence or helmet is required. NOW at night it is unusual to see even one with head or tail lights on - why because they say it strains the battery - nightmare, the number of near misses I have had in my SUV is scary.
