I have seen more than a few discussions on here about cheap calls abroad and Skype seems to come out very well. I am now in China and purchased a legal Skype pre Paid card (they are sold here by shops who also sell phone Sim cards)

Problem is I cannot find a way to load the card. Any suggestions, and if I can load it, would it still work in Thailand

My guess would be NO as you would have to buy direct from the Airlines at their prices.

What makes you think another Asian country will be better? Suggest you take a little trip to China, might give you a better perspective of what you have here in Thailand...

Dont and cannot accept your comparison, I first visited China in 1980, am now based in Kunming. Fantastic modern clean cities throughout China now and very easy to live as a westerner., totally opposite to the 80's.just to prove my point, I lived in HK 20 years, Manila for 7 and Bangkok for 7 and where would I rather be now CHINA

I also contacted Dream in Manila and was told that the reasons that these channels (ESPN, Star Sports etc) have been removed is because the contract has to be renewed and they are in the process of renegotiating. The lady told me (great to talk to someone on such a topic who speaks perfect English) that their customer service numbers have been inundated with complaints.

She assures me the channels will be returned but couldnt say exactly when

Kunming ius only a 1 hour 50 minute flight from BKK and has a Thai consulate

Oh dear just got back to Kunming after a week away. Was reading this and checked my Dream Package here, looks like dream have dropped ESPN and Star Sports ands replaced them with French and korean news channels.

Can anyone witrh Dream in Thailand support these observations or am I wrong

I really dont understand a lot of these posters who cannot believe this is a very strictly enforced policy with almost all airlines these days. Its a sensible and logical thing to do as it eradicates CC theft. To the poster who said China Airlines do not carry out this policy, you are wrong as it was this airline four years ago who bumped me as the ticket was paid for online using the company MD's CC.

Other contributors on here have also got it right, using a CC with a travel agent is acceptable to the airline as it is the travel agent who takes the hit if things are dodgy.

No way round this so accept it. For the op I suggest you dont put the lady through this ordeal, it looks very dodgy when Ms Somchai who is flying to China books in and when asked where the card is explains that its her husband John Smith who has paid for it, but we are not married !!

At some time you will have to purchase a single ticket and that will be expensive

Had the same poroblem once, no sweat found a shop to make a new one. If I remeber cost me 150 Baht, didnt report it as lost or any such thing
